Amadeus
Hope no one's posted this link already but I found these articles out of Racecar Engineering to be very informative and thought someone here would as well. Racecar Aerodynamics
bjhines
I appreciate the link. Interesting but it's just a tease. The pictures are fuzzy and useless. near zero data. Even the color plots can't be referenced to a number because the pics are so blurred.
Amadeus
True it's a little blury but I can still make out the numbers on the graphs. If I could justify paying about $170 for a year subscription I would.
JMortensen
I had a subscription and stopped after one year. If you're into understanding the theory behind formula car engineering RCE is great, unfortunately it doesn't often translate well to what most of us are actually doing. McBeath also wrote a book called Competition Car Aerodynamics and most of the stuff in the articles is reprinted there, along with a bunch more. It's worth the read. 260DET
I have McBeath's book and it certainly is an interesting read. Its a bit patchy as far as being applicable to our Z cars though, the rear aero on items like wings and spoilers is good, the front aero on items like splitters and undertrays not so good. Most of it is specifically formula car related, it would have helped me more if it was more general and DIY orientated.
