misturmoneybags
Will a 305 SBC with either of these two intake/carb combos fit under the stock hood of a 240Z? bjhines
That is pretty standard stuff. You can get short aircleaners and side inlet air-horns that will provide enough clearance for even taller setups.

jhm
Ditto what bj said. I've got plenty of clearance even w/ cold air setup, and my engine's mounted in the Scarab position. The JTR mounting gives you tons more clearance.
Pyro
I would avoid edelbrock/carter carbs. save some money and get better parts and don't buy the "kit". get a 3310 holley 750 for $251.00 get a regular rpm intake, edelbrock 7101, $141.95 get a drop base air cleaner 14 x 3. misturmoneybags
get a 3310 holley 750 for $251.00 Wouldn't a 750 carb for a 305 be too much?
GOTHALOSISM
Why a 305, and not a 350? After a while your going to want a 350 or 355 or 383, ect....
Pyro
Wouldn't a 750 carb for a 305 be too much? No. the 3310 is a square bore vacuum secondary carb. so 375 cfms on the primaries and 375 cfms on the secondaries. The amount the secondaries open depends on the air demand. so, could only open for an extra 100 cfm, if that is all the engine wants. a 600 cfm would work ok also. I would get the cheaper of the two (750 or 600). But the 750 will give you room to grow.
Zfan1
383 or 400 sbc is the way to go...
