garyneedsz
i have an 81 turbo setup in my 77. I am hearing this weird, "Whoop" noise coming from the front end area. Its not a fast pace noise. I am thinking that its the oil pump. has anyone ever heard of an oil pump going out, and making weird noises? I also had an N/A setup in the car previous, that made the exact same noise. The ONLY part i switched from engine to engine was the water pump, and that was brand new from MSA. also, they both had deleted fan clutches. I am hoping this isnt a bottom end issue. anyone have this "whoop" noise? btw, it occurs about once every ten seconds
proxlamus©
to be honest.. thats sounds like it could be the water pump.. I know you just got a new one.. but its possible the bearings could be bad.. get a cheap mechanics stethoscope and listen to the water pump on start up
garyneedsz
i did, the noise is pretty loud, and is the same loudness when i listen to the water, and oil pump. hrmmm. i wonder what MSA is going to say if i tell them i bought a water pump a few months ago and i think its bad? theres only about 75miles on it. NewZed
Run without your fan belt for 30 -40 seconds. That will take your water pump out of the picture.
