rb25det '78 280z

Recommended Posts

I've had this '78 since early 06 and bought it with an rb25 swap already in it and running. but it did need quite a bit of work here and there. Mainly electrical work . Since then it has gone through a few changes and ups and downs but i've kept it since i'm very attached. Two years ago aprox. i broke the rb20 trans that was in the car and bought an rb25 trans , then just recently due to a whole mess of work/home/financial issues i decided to jump back on it.

I recently bought a mckinney driveshaft, corbeau seat and bracket, and i'm making this thread to show the re-making of a car i love , even if it is rusty and crusty. On to some pix:

The motor shortly after i bought the car

What the car looked like before i bought it and before 3 major hurricanes hit back in 05(try to remember)

When i bought the car i traded the stock wheels and panasports for an ae86 corolla gts and bought epsilons for the Z

After i got man sized tires and lowered the car i discovered a lot of bondo and shotty bodywork and like any self respecting person woulkd do , i went crazy

Then got more creative:

By this point i had gotten a bigger intercooler fixed electrical gremlins, and lightened the car quite a bit...and did some cleanup here and there:

Fast forward to now:

Mmmmm. She is pretty.

I have two questions.

Do you plan on running an aftermarket airdam? (Xenon)

In the first picture, is the clear tubing the same stuff you get at home depot for water projects,

Or is designed for automotive use?

Just wondering.

I also like the stance your car has, very agressive.

I started to swap trannies, the speed sensor is well... a sensor not cable drive ,so that's out the window, it was a pain to put up the trans in the tunnel and bolt it to the motor And now the speed sensor unit hits the tranny mount , and on the other side the tranny itself touches the tranny mount...ugh. Any ideas?

Woooooooooooow... I've always wondered where this car ended up, I almost bought this car from the previous owner, I meet with him saw the car and everything. Made him an offer and he said to let him think on it a bit. Called back a week later said he got a better offer and she was gone. So I guess your the Lucky bastard that snatched her up, glad to see you've held onto her this long. I'll be checking back to see progress every now and then.
