  1. Hey guys, Getting ready to sell my turbo 240z (http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/51633-daves-racecar-project-240z/) in a couple of weeks and need to replace the front lower control arms and ball joints on her before she goes up for sale. Anyone got some lying around? Ideally in CA to cut down on shipping cost? Many thanks, Dave
  2. The dampers come in pairs. I used the same shocks front and back. Dave
  3. tamo3, I used the gland nuts and female sides that come with the the dampers. The females were ground down and filed out then welded onto the top of the strut tubes, this is Step 13, 14 and 21. Best of luck! Dave
  4. Docaam, I've never sat a VK45 next to a VK56, but I'd put money the latter has a higher block height, which I'd imagine would contribute to it's width. I was planning on running a megasquirt ECU, so I'm unclear what donor parts you'd need. Gatsby, Sorry to disappoint. The things I have left over are in the for sale thread http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/111846-vk56de-07-vct-8000mi-g37-6-speed-box-trans-adaptor-2x-hayabusa-throttle-bodies-2900/ but it's all sale pending. Dave
  5. I sold the project. But if you check the pics on the previous page, yes the engine (sans exhaust manifold) fit just fine. I'm confident I could've made it work, I still have the engine, so maybe I'll pick up another S30 chassis and go from there. Dave
  6. HK240ZT, Please forgive my abrupt response, I was not having a great day: not an excuse though. I have no direct experience, but if you were serious about doing this it'd seem to me a part of a much larger project, like building a car where it's important to be able to change wheels quickly. I'd assume the weight benefits to such a system are pretty negligible, especially for a street car. So it'd seem expensive, hard, and to vastly limit your choice of wheels, simply so you can could do theoretically do a 30 second pit-stop, and save a few pounds of unsprung. Dave
  7. If all you want is the "ultimate racing look" (first sentence, first paragraph of that link), why don't you just get a big sticker that goes over the lugs you have? Dave
  8. Looks great dude. You going to block up the front a bit? If that's gunna go 150+ I could see it popping the bonnet with that much of a hole in the front? Dave
  9. I am not overflowing with experience/wisdom, but I had good success tuning my L28ET using these: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/43865-tutorial-the-best-value-detonation-detectors-on-the-planet/ Sounds dorky, but it was very illuminating. I think the danger is this, your engine should not be blowing head gaskets (unless you are running L28E head gaskets on an L28ET engine? Did that, 3 head gaskets later... ). If it is detonating, and you replace the head gasket with a metal one, you're just making it more likely it'll snap some piston ring lands. The dumb earmuffs really help in at least knowing what is going on. Dave
  10. Based on verbal discussions I've had with John Washington of Reaction Research, he can do what you're looking for: 480.229.1831, info@ReactionResearch.com Dave
  11. Looks like a boy wire spool and a girl wire had lots of fun in your interior. Dave
  12. I know it's not strictly car related, but I need this done to make any more progress: I finished the wiring in my house box to run the new welder circuit: Dave
  13. Finished the panel box. Ready for me to get a sparky to come review the work before I flip it on: I know it's not the prettiest thing in the world, but as long as it works, and is safe, I'll be happy. Dave
  14. I just reviewed the tech doc on the full-race site: http://www.full-race.com/articles/efrturbotechbrief.pdf They sure look the goods to me. A lot of care seems to have been taken. If I ever turbo the VK56 I'll definitely be getting one or two of these suckers. Dave
  15. Yay done with this side: On to the panel box next. Dave
  16. Did some wiring on the 220v circuit I'm adding to the house to run my new Lincoln TIG: Will finish the 110v wiring up tonight.
  17. I'm still itching to make some more progress here. I wired up an outside 110v circuit this weekend with some friends which was fun, so I'm feeling more confident I can finish the wiring on the welder circuit and then get a sparky to come look at it and sign off/tell me what to fix. I finished wiring in the 220v outlet, and almost done with the GCFI 110v companion circuit: Then I just need to do the circuit box and good to go. Dave
  18. I think both PMC and HowlerMonkey need to post pics and details of their respective 2000hp+ builds, as whilst I don't doubt they can both back up those claims, without proof (which I'm curious to see regardless), this thread could as well be two 12yo's arguing. Dave
  19. Wow that last clip is a bit scary. I'm no expert, but are you sure you shouldn't be running in a faster group? Dave
  20. By shred do you mean like disintegrated? That's amazing. Are they hyperflex ones or OEM or what? Time for some custom spin alu ones perhaps? Dave
  21. Nice! Sounds great Mike. Can't wait to see more. Looks like you had the track to yourself? Dave
  22. "3M clear coating" as in a paint, or is this a new-fangled thing like this: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Scotchgard_Paint_Protection/Film/ ? Dave
