Is that the color or the primer?!

So much suspense!

wheres the video to go along with it?

Yeah' date=' that's just the [standox'] epoxy primer.

I'll probably make a short video from the paintshop. Hang tight ; )

I have to get my wide angle lens back in order to film properly as well.

Lots of more work to be captured on film, so there'll be more videos

coming along. Not to worry ; )

Yeah, I know it's not smooth as a babys bottom - it will be though =)

... And yes - the fender flares will be chopped off eventually and custom

made metal flares will be installed in their place. But for now it's heading

for bondo. FOR NOW. I promise : )

Guest ON3GO

why arent you doing the flares now while its the best time to do it???..

also question on the battery tray.

i see its tack welded all the way around it, and i can see that theres little non welded gaps between each weld and etc.

how are you gonna fix that to make it look perfect and smooth?

everytime i did that and tried to smooth it with filler you can just see the filler and turns out like crap, i always had to sit there forever and tack in each hole and then grind it down, then fill it to a babys bottom.

care to share?

looks awesome btw!

Thanks Mike! :)

The reason for not doing the flares right now is that I want either a custom

made rear end or that of a Skyline. Either way - I want to model the flares

once the new rear end, and the wheels I want to use, are in place in order

to get the correct width/design of the flares.

The battery tray welds (along with all the other welds/seams/etc) will be

covered with Plastic Padding body caulk/putty/whatever-its-called(?) then

smoothed with a brush and (sooner or later) recieve a couple of layers paint

on top. It won't be 100% smooth, but I don't really care about looks under

the hood since this car isn't built to be a show car : )

Here's a picture of the products that will be used for the undercarriage.

plastic_fantastic.sized.jpg

The stuff in the back labeled "body special" is a thick/rough elastic paint

that'll protect undercarriage/wheel arches/etc from stone chips, etc.

"Forgot" to remove the old "trolley" wheels before paint. No worries though.

More paint later on - once they're gone.

Sent off, back home. Currently installed in the rotissery - waiting for the

caulk/putty/yada-yada-stuff-to-keep-moisture-dirt-etc-out-of-the-welds-and-seams : )

Hi All, I think the product you are after is called "Seam Sealer" the one I have used is made by 3M and it comes in a can or in a tube, you can brush it on from the can, or squeeze it on and use your finger (I knew there was a reason they thought me finger painting at school LOL)and it works great most car manufacturers used to use this to seal the body panels after spot welding to stop moisture/water from getting between the panels and rusting them out?

Check this link out http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_marine_aero/automotive_aftermarket/node_GSWMS8NB1Nbe/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSLPLPKL4Xge/gvel_6DTWTJQPBBgl/command_AbcPageHandler/theme_us_aad_3_0

Quote from the 3M™ website "Seam Sealers"

Easy to apply sealant that is used for sealing interior and exterior autobody joints and seams. Applies easily and can be smoothed to a featheredge. with a wet-finger/and Sets to a firm, tough, rubber-like water resistant bead.

Aside from posting the annoying "any updates"

I would like to say once you complete hugo i will torrent all the movies for easy downloading.

Mull you are a inspirtation to Many people This has got to be one of the most popular Z projects in a good while

My Car started out with a dead engine and many other problems but after watching your videos i eventually decided to start doing work on it myself

Now i have a new old engine and im very happy

Also Sort of Misc But you mentioned having a truck and that it wasnt performing at its best and you had to drive slowly home. That truck fixed yet? i noticed in the newer videos the original truck magically disappeared. What happened?

Thanks alot : )

Great to hear about your formerly dead engine! Say "Happy birthday" to it from me will you :)

The truck you're talking about is pretty much fixed since a couple of months.

I rented it from a friend who does'nt live nearby. In addition I prefer transporting

the bare metal hull in a covered truck as you probably understand : )

The weather is a bit sketchy from time to time during spring here.

In the very first video when the thing started and then stalled... I laughed so hard I almost spit my drink on the keyboard.

That's what hooked me into watching the rest of your videos.

Thanks for the update. Cool video, as usual.
