Hey,
Just bought Nissan Quest studs. Went to put them in and they seem to need to be pressed in. Through searching I found zcarnut said in a post to buy rears, but I found that after buying fronts. But the only reason I bought fronts was because the Napaonline.com showed front and rears both have same part numbers, and the decriptions are the same sizes.
Anybody got any insight on this? The ones I bought seem sooo close its not even funny, but I quickly banged at them for about 20 seconds, then looked at them and figured I'd just press them in, it seems they are the right ones but brand new so a little larger.

Coat a washer in anti-seize and put it over the stud, then put a lug nut on and tigten it down until the stud bottoms. Repeat 15 more times. Done.

If the parts store listed the same part number, then I suppose so. The question is are they long enough? If so, then go ahead and install them.

You need to get the Quest rear wheel studs. They have the correct knurl diameter (12.9mm). The front Quest stud has a knurl diameter of 14.3mm.

The correct NAPA part number for the Quest rear stud is 6412785. The front is a 6412786 (different part number).

You can also use studs from Dorman. The Dorman part number is 98363:

Here is the front Quest stud (for comparison):

Ooh, yeah, well you aren't going to be able to put the front studs in with a knurl diameter that is that far off. It should be easy to see if you have the right ones with zcarnut's post.

Yes, those pictures help a lot. I will check to see if I got the right ones when I get home tonight. Thank you both.

OK, got the right studs... so far only 5, should have other 3 tomorrow. Drove them in with a hammer, went in nicely. Then had to grind away at the center of the wheel spacer from Pep Boys to fit flush against the hub (thanks for making sure I did that JMortensen) Then screwed the lug nuts on. I used some lug nuts I bought used on ebay. Look like normal nissan covered acorn, I guess... Kinda hard screwing some in, since they have to go through the rims hole and I think some of the wheel studs were off alignment a little so screwing them in must've put them straight. Oh ya, I bought new cotter pins incase you've seen the other post about breaking one. I'm nervous about driving the car now.... first car I've ever replaced every bushing under the car, putting on new struts and springs, ball joints, switching over to brakes, lug nuts, all kinds of new stuff... Nervousness.... any ideas on how to test? Take it slow to the shop for an alignment, then gradually build up confidence?

FYI: Dorman's catalog lists this info additionally: (also attached to this post as a PDF, only three pages long with the pertinent info for this post)

Z stock front stud : 610-240
13mm knurl
32mm long
10mm shoulder

Z stock rear stud : 610-320
12.83mm knurl
41.5mm long
14mm shoulder

THEN they list 610-403 as the 'overlength stud' for the 610-240!!

12.9mm knurl
45.5 long
15mm shoulder

Why do people keep asking stuff or posting on such old threads. Read the date on the last post. When 6 years old it is dead
The 70 240z is back on the road after 3 years.

More information = better.

I got the rear quest studs if I remember right, I think I just tapped them in and it went perfectly. If your having to smash them in theres is a problem as you have found out.

The reason I posted this information on such an old thread is that this thread was most closely related to the Dorman PN and extended 'oem' replacements. Most of the newer wheel stud threads that are out there are focused on ARP or Nismo studs, with only confusing information about OEM replacements.

I'm going to give those Rear Quest studs a try, it looks like the rear Z studs would work, but I like the fact that the Quest studs are closer on the knurl diameter. $1.70 at the local parts store. They have 260 in stock. Why would you need so many in stock???
