  1. Hey, my friend has an CLSD off a z31 turbo. He installed the unit after convincing him it was a good upgrade for his car. It was installed into a 280z. The differential when driven for a long time or on the freeway for some good amount of miles (like 20), the differential starts making some noises like loud clunks when turning. It even makes the noises switching lanes. In the morining or after the car has rested for a good amount of time, the noise is gone and car drives fine and clsd works. But, when some miles are put on it, the noise (loud) returns. I was hoping some of you guys can figure out what his problem is? I was thinking of Backlash, but not too sure. Inputs? I also checked Half shaft and traded him with mine and noise is still there, so im assuming thats not the problem.

    Thanks Hybrid.

  2. I have a rear chrome bumper. It's all dinged up. The FG bumpers are cheap and available, lighter. I really don't want to imitate chrome, but along those lines.

@Jimmy thanks. I'll look into that.

@Heroez, grow up. We all have different taste. Im not trying to cheap out. If it doesn't look good then I would try something else. Let me know when your z taste gets noticed, to me you just have a stock s30z with thin chrome 240z bumpers. Real taste you got there chief.

  3. Hi, I have some fiberglass bumpers from MSA and I like the availability and weight savings. My 260z which is getting most attention out of my 2 s30z is 904 white. A color I Prefer to keep since its in good condition. Anyway, I dont like black white color combo, I'm more of a white and chrome (or similar shine) type of guy. I have seen  the spray on chrome method which is really impressive, but its kind of expensive. I was wondering if anyone has ever powder coated chrome on their z FG bumpers or fiberglass parts or even spray can powdercoat? Powdercoat chrome and black chrome are available for relatively inexpensive prices for the powder.

    Thanks

  4. Installed Poly Urethane Mustache Bar bushings on the car and I do hear a little more noise coming from the differential as said in the number 2 point. So all cars that install Poly Urethane bushing on Mustache bar will hear a little more noise? I don't hear a lot more than before, but I can tell there has been a little more differential noise.

  5. Hi, I am looking for a stroker block f54 or n42 with Ld28 crank and pistons. Must be in good condition. Ready to drop in a head and go. I am in the Los Angeles Area. Let me know what you have and we can arrange something. If you have complete with head I will be interested. I already have manifolds and carbs. Contact me through PM or email me at brianzkills@yahoo.com.

  6. I actually got a copy a couple of weeks ago. I really like your car, Im going with same size and color rs watanabe but I fond it difficult that you are running 50 height tires when they look like low profile. Anyway glad to see your 240z in the mag. I like your cars stance and wheels. Well deserved to be covered.

  7. Hello hybridz, I have a leaking oil seal in front pinion. I called my local diff shop and they said they don't like to work on z cars (s30 specifically) because the driveshaft might be seized up due to a straight shaft to diff where there is no movement on u joints. A small conversation lasting a minute or so, but he said he can replace my oil seal. He wants the diff out of the car in order to fix it. Question is it even possible for the u-joint on driveshaft to seize up on s30z?

  8. My can grinder wanted me to use valvoline vr1, which has zinc included. I picked up my lash pads from another grinder and gave me a bottle of Elgin zinc additive. He told me it would protect my cam and can run with any oil. Even gave me some backstory of why zinc isn't used in brand new cars. I'm going to take his word since the can isn't that expensive, a lot cheaper than buying 5 quarts of vr1.
