hey in case you guys wanted to know my brother in law finally got his cobra up and working correctly after several years of work, roller cam that was suppsoed to be a tap cam, meatal shaving ate the engine:rolleyesg , etc. Any how he weighs in at 2400 pounds, 351 nascar block forged everything, ceramic combution chamber, arp bolts for everthing,8.5 compresson, twin turbos! Automatic tranny, those new m/t street slick (wow), duel calipers all the way around. slotted and drilled rooters big,etc, etc. Any how he is dynoed in at 805 rwhp, running only 19psi, the turbos are capable of over 30psi!! So take it out to the friday night drags and eats every thing in sight, modified motocycles, actual drag cars, really bad. He ran one pass and believes he broke into the high 8sec. 6800 rpms at the end in 3rd, three speed. assuming 160 to 170 mph!!!!!!!!! GOT KICKED FROM THE TRACK! Any how i so goes life just wanted to tell you guys i will try to get a viedo posted sometime. PS he dose not have ms cuse we did not know about it at that time:cry: The porche will:) By the way, the ride is actually a little scary, yes i said it iam a little scared, but what a rush!!

I know on computers they will ground seial and ethernet ports with fingers on the computer case, when you put the mother board, as well as on the board where yours is not. Maby if you ground the ms case and make sure the serial port is touching the ms case that may solve your problem for now, but it is strange, maby their is a grounding issue in ms its self someware else? This is not gospel but its an idea.

just for the record sake that is not the same thing. Never Never up a fuse, or keep repacing a slow blow fuse!!! Sensitive computer electonics suffer. soorry but maby iam in a bad mood but if he is willing to continue to replace fuse and kept triing things fry sizzzle!

iam interested in this post as well, my friends dad has a 86 911 wide body and we are completly rebuilding the engine and want to use ms on it. ps what a weird engine had to take pics during breakdown.

the 25 uf is a rf ground, it grounds rf not power, that the stuff that grounds the noise that can cause you problems.

Since i dont have the money yet to get megasquirt for my 83 280zx, and i had to use the car money to repalce96 saab turbo auto tranny, my z did not pass emmisions. just being able to tune it a little can get me through. it would be a great tool for many different things and not the huge cost!!!!!1

ok here is something else, always ground as close as possible to gear being install. someone told me ground at the battery is best, not true, i did a powerful stero taht way and i cause serious voltage drop, i used 8 awg wire even. did the short wire ground no more probs. also, at least for natrual gruonding systems ie ground rods in earth, to much grounding can cause a ground loop, hence voultage on ground, do not know waht causes this, but i have seen it frist hand in our cable tv headends, just mounting the ms with a metal body with screws can cause a prety good ground. dont know if this helps, but you know more than i so i figure anything might be useful??

i believe that when the alternator starts its charge voltage gose to its highest point. if there is a short i may become apparent with the extra votage needed to short. different alternators, but same battery? can a z run with batty diconected? just off the alternator? disco the carge lead from alternator to batty at the alternator, i think i will still go into charge mode but into nothing and see

i know this is dumb, but cheack your fuel filter, that or maby you fuel pump cant keep up cuse old?

putting in a higher rated thermostate can help with keepiing the car cooler.... i know that sounds crazy but rv"ers do it all the time.... the reason is that once the tremostat opens all the way it can not regulate the flow through the radiator, hence hot coolent does not have enough time to cool in the cores. i did a 195 on my z with a cam and headers and never cross the half way point on my temp gauge again... i denied this for a year before triing and now iam convinced and it cheap!

hey i sorry, my turbo rebuild may come sooner than i thought, and i was makeing inquires in the stock inginition side, wondering if ms will work with it for spark and dweell with a turbo.

i want to go to turbo later, my friend has a porche turbo 86 911 and lots of pipeng he will let me have for cheap. so ihve been tring to find out if my distrubutor will work under this senerio.

sorry, to do spark contorl with the ms useing distrubtor with the car and not go to the gm modual since my dis has dwell....is that better?

i just found out that my 83280zx dose have dwell it can not be ajusted though. can i do spark conrtol with this and ms?

ok i been reading every day everything you guys have written. i copy bunch of stuff to note pad. now here is my stupid question,, initial can i put in ms and not have to screw with inginition at all?? and use stock tps? i have a 83 280zx. also my wife saab has coil paks can ms contorol that? cuseit seems to be computer controled

for what its worht my bother in law has a ac corbra kit car with a 351 winsor nascar engine and a fast system. he could not get it to run worth s*it for 8 mos. broght in specilist and tons others to get it to run. ended up being physical timeing on the crank trigger had to unbolt it and move it forward on hole. now the timing still is not quite right but the car pulls like a bithch at 11 psi boost and approx 700 hp. yes it is cablable of 21 psi but it all ready scarcs the crap out of us. in his set up you have to lock the distrubuter from advacing so the cumpunter dose the caculattions for the advance
