  1. wow and i thought i knew how to take a compression test......that is great info, i always wonder about mixed results sometime thankyou for the education:icon7:
  2. kinda waht i was pondering due to the consistancey. fyi thotal must be wide open for acuate pressue test!
  3. warren said it well, their is a lot of stinky on this one. is compression consistant across all the cyn?
  4. cool now i know how scuffing i will need to thaxs
  5. hey braap, my bro has told me that roughing the intake before fuel gose in keeps the gas from beeding on the surface. I guess from small vortecs. Not to rain on the parade.
  6. I can fine this on the net, but faster asking you guys, arnt the injectors for n/a the same for turbo as far as impedance goes? I got some arizona new turbo injector and my 83 na injecs are leaking.
  7. O.K. on this emf problem people have, distance from feild is very important. is it difficult to keep maxium distance from the feild and the low current for everything else? I mean plugs on one side of car, electonics on other side. unless running distrubuter. beiing a low volt guy i never run with power even though its leagal, cuse those that right the rules dont get it. since i have not done an inastall yet i have had a z for many years so familar with lay out.
  8. I would go with v3 for support and cost, just my 2ct
  9. ive been reading this site for about 2-3yrs. I WILL do megasquirt on my 83 280zx. The reason i have not is cuse my wife keeps haveing kids:shock: . Any how nothing ever works for me the frist time, or sec, or thrid,,,,,,,but that is how i became head engineer for my company. I have a shop that would make people drool, machiist, dyno, and help, but no time or money, so i hope some day to join the ranks of those that have fought and won with megasquirt, congrats on your love machine!
  10. though that was extensive research when you say heat soak at what temp/ or dose it not change anymore, at what temp. I can say this that even though it was a hand and slow change, shop air kicks butt ie cooling welds. sooooo if manifold is at 230 and air is at 150 across sensor me thinks there is enough isolation to see a temp of 150 to 170??? at the sensor. now it will depend on the speed at witch the air is moving across the sensor. if you can measure manifold temp and look at sensor temp under different conditions you see the diff. without a supercharger or turbo your air intake should be very cool. mabey wrap the intake? Is your fan mabey pushing air out instead of in? This is just my 2 cents but i have worked with cooling quite a bit in computers. also you would have to ceramic coat inside and out side of intake manifold.
  11. being a cable guy there are varying shielding amts and size of coax. the cable is excellent at passing RF and pwr. you will need to have the inside conductor exposed as little as possible. the out side conductor is the shield is steel brad and alummin foil. take that to ground and make sure you do not short inside to outside conductor with even the smallest piece of Brade. if you have to extend Brade use small stranded copper wire, it is superior RF ground! make sure ground is quiet other wise you will have even a worse problem:). good luck
  12. I dont want to read everything again so at the risk if being reduntant, do you have a fuel pressure gauge?
  13. me think your right any flex of that shaft could cause power loss as well as premature teeth wear and bushing failure, thanks for the pic, it made it super clear. By the way i assume that all of us push rpm needle higher than granny would!
  14. If no one will say it I will.........it is a absered subject! Being a former sonar tech on a trident sub, trust me leave the subject to the military. You just put you money into your homested and go to diy forums. Thanks though cuse it was funny and also, banning is freedom of speech as well i just hope iam not on the recieving end:shock: . ado
  15. Talk about strange, being a cable tv eng you might not get a new ip due to cashing on the newer cmts. Any how replace all transitors with vaccume tubes, strap the huge contraption to your hood or roof ....your choice, and toe around a generator(also equiped with vaccume tubes) and you will be safe from emp!! No offence but i would be more worried about other things more than a sunday drive.
  16. Thanks linec that is perfeeect!
  17. I fried my fusable links to i ve got a 83 280zx can you give me specifics on your fix including what wire goes where and part no on fuse block? It melted my enclosuer as well. Me thinks it was the stero and electic fan that did it in
  18. ok, would not a restricter slow respone? Also you would not get any more vacumme then what the engine is giving you?? With breaks you have a greater suface area to give you an increase on vacumme i believe due to hydralics?? Am i off base here or did i not read correctly:rolleyesg please advise.
  19. maby put your v3 in for trouble shooting or permant to stay out of trouble?
  20. it probaly dose a better job at grounding out the rf, or magneticly protected.
