Strockerz I ordered the 660cc injectors. Should receive them today I hope. Once in my hands I will be able to comment on their first impression - but not their performance. Q

HOw much have a spent? More than planned:shock: Rough estimates only - but here we go... R32 Rb26 and 5 speed RWD tranny - $1750 R34 long block $5500 Turbo rebuilds $1800 Microtech LT12S, Wide band O2, coil pack driver - $2500 Drive Shaft $400 Motor mounts $250 Gasket set $240 N1 water pump $225 Timing Belt $30 Intercooler and piping $400 Exhaust $650 Injectors $550 fuel pump(s), fuel filter, serge tank, pressure reg, 240Z tank mod - $1000 Cage in car $2500 New guages - tack, speedo & boost $450 New Clutch, flywheel $500 oil cooler and plumbing - $200 oil pan, pickup, oil pan mods coatings - $240 other stuff - lsd, R31 turbo half shafts, adjustable T/C rods, 280Z stub axles (modified for R31T half shafts) I could go on and on - as we all know. - and there will be more. Q

I also looked at Pwer enterprise injectors - however I found a number of individuals who told me these injectors performed poorly in RBs due to their length - or lack there of. I have gone cheep and ordered some Venom injectors. If anyone is interested I have eight or nine Mazda injectors (550 cc) along with a set of stock RB26 injectors. I'll keep you updated on the Venom peices once I receive them. I will also update on the Microtech LT12S once running:icon14: it is getting very close...... should have plumbing of intercooler, oil cooler and intake done this week - then wait for injectors while completing exhaust, moving battery to back (surge tank in old battery local), installing 300ZXT half shafts, new guages etc.... Maybe two weeks+. q
-
Before I get told - I did search. I am sure that many of you have upgraded your injectors on your RB series motors - I am looking for input. Ebay has a host of injectors for the RB26 - some quoted as new - such as the VENOM - but Stony's comments worry me. Anyone else with VENOM experience? I have six 550cc Mazda injectors - but have decided to go new - and get them ASAP (of course). Around 600-650cc would be great. Any comments or contact info appreciated. Q

Here are some shots of the cage - added some weight but I think it will be worth it. this is a shot from inside the wheel well. One bar come from the cross member behind the dash to the TC rod mount (one on each side) and as shown above two to the strut towers. behind the seats the donor RB26 - this one rolled around on the boat all the way over... The newly received R34 from RB Motoring - with the rebuilt turbos recently attached - rebuilt turbos with larger compressors (30%) and some porting. another shot of the turbos and new plumbing intake getting cleaned up and ready for assembly...

SS autochrome fitment (or lack there of)
fentin_fury replied to Kennysgreen280zt's topic in Nissan RB Forum
I purchased a set of the inexpensive HKS knock offs on ebay. A few comments... The bolt pattern although close - was not exact and required some work to attach to the turbos. The turbo flange was neither stainless nor straight! 1mm of in both X and Y. Two holes in the turbo flange needed to be filled - I have no idea what they were for. The welding looks adequate but where the two pipes meet required some clean up - otherwise very restricted. They are on and in place - but they are not bolt on. Q -
Recieved the engine from RB Motoring along with some spare parts. Looks excellent - today I will pull of the pan and inspect the bottom end, change the oil pickup and install the new pan. That should tell the story. Once the Microtech is installed and running:icon14: I will let you all know the outcome. I am slightly curious to figure out the sequential spark, ignition and timing. I do have one question for the knowledgable masses here - anyone know of anything special about RB26s with blue valve covers - or is this just a Cusco bling thing? q
-
Slow and Rusty - that will be the next problem - Greg will be to busy. He's built motors and setup 3 240's this year that are running in VARAC. That all takes time. Q

It has been some time since I began my project - and I have accumulated a number of parts - however I have been unsuccessful in obtaining an RB26 in decent shape. The first R32 I recieved had rolled around the container for what looked like the whole cross ocean journey. Little survived:fmad: - block is broken where the AC compressor was ripped off. The second engine - an R33 RB26 came and appeared to be in good shape. There was some suspect plumbing - the turbos seemed to have seen little use and the oil dump lines were wrong. Upon removal of the pan I found the crank scored on #1 and #6 with both rod bearings spun . This was returned to the supplier - in peices. I finally had enough and yesterday contacted RBMotoring who had an R34 long block available - with what they say has very little use on it. Looks good and will ship out today or tomorrow. Based on the praise on this site for the guys at RBMotoring I do not expect any problems. Stuff to date: Full cage in car (I should post some picutres of this) Intercooler Stand alone - Microtech Lt12S Wide band O2 Rb25 5 speed new clutch/pressure plate/lightened flywheel (12 lbs) Rebuilt turbos with larger comperssors (30%), ported, steel New N1 water pump - likely now available for sale New Nissan timing belt - also likely a spare New nissan CAS - for the R34 (ouch!) Ricks engine mounts Toys for Boys adjustable TC rods R200 with quaiffe 300 turbo half shafts 280z stub axles conversion flanges for above hks dump pipes New drive shaft - nice peice AND i'm still waiting for that engine..... I hope with the rolled engine I have enough peices to get the car on the road. It will be snowing here soon;-) Q

No VIN number - I'll be pulling pan, water pump, etc. soon. I was just hoping I could determine which oil pump to order - but it looks like wrench time to decide that. I will let you guys know what I find out. Thanks for the input. Q

Does anyone out there know what years the various R32/33 block casting numbers are? I tired searching our great forum - but no success on the block numbering system. I've read that some of the late model R32 blocks included the revised crank shaft - is that true? would anyone know when this change occured (based on the block cast)? thanks Q

I have been searching for N1 parts for my R33. If anyone out there can confirm the part numbers for the N1 oil pump and the N1 water pump (yes I searched our site - but little success) I will quote some prices. If my part number is correct it looks like my price for the N1 water pump is $242.00 CAD - delivered. If I get the part numbers I can list the prices I can get here in Canada. thanks Q -
It is 21 3/4" U-joint center to U-joint center, 29 7/8" overall length - the drive shaft that is. I don't remember the measurement you are asking for off hand - will check tonight. I am using the Infinity engine mounts and an R200. Q
-
slow n' rusty Yes I am having the work done at a shop owned and run by a good friend - and his name is Greg. Wish I had the time, tools and skills to do everything myself - but I don't. Q
-
I also had a shaft made up - all spicer parts inlcluding yoke. I am mating to a different diff however - and using a larger rear flange requiring use of Z31 300ZX LSD differential pinion flange on my R200.
-
Yes those are the dumps from SS auto chrome. They look OK - the welds are good and the material is fine. They will require some cleaning out on the inside - minor work with the dremel. The rad is Arizona Zcars. I've had it for over a year. Nice product.

This forum has been great! I appreciate all the information and assitance I have received here. I hope to return the favour where possible. Some pictures of the swap in progress.. Old powertrain gone - in with the new! some stopping improvements - necessary I believe Infinity machining motor mounts get put on the on the spare R32 - this engine is beat and I am awaiting delivery of my BNR33. Just using this engine to mock up exhaust, wiring, drive shaft , intercooler etc... Better than Christmas - the new drive shaft arrives! new down pipes - quality is OK - will need some work on the inside. I will comment more once bolted up and working Engine and tranny in place - begin some work on plumbing. Note: not the huge intercooler like I've seen on others here:shock: . This one will have to do for now. I am awaiting my MicroTECH LT12S, wide band O2, and larger injectors. Hopefully the BNR33 arrives soon!

I bought Rick's mounts and must say they are top quality - additionaly Rick was very easy to deal with. Quentin

thanks to you all:) for the directions. I have a few things to try now. I will check all components and also the spring direction. I will let you all know how it goes... Next year RB26.... but that is a different forum. Q
-
Intertesting - how can I see this? It would seem to me the shim pocket is very small - was it obvious once you knew what to look for? I will check tonight. I took pictures of the rocker arms - but I am challanged to upload them. I will figure this out soon. quentin

lash pads are set correctly - very time consuming and an individual basis. I am inclined to suspect valve float as mentioned - but I have no way to prove this. Tonight I am going to take some pictures and measure the spring weight of the lobe with the most wear vs. the least. As a test - what would you all think of adding a spacer to the springs? Effectivley increasing the tension? Thoughts? Quentin
-
Yes - this is what I mean by the backside - I thought about the spring weights as well - but I am running what is recommended. I will try a heavier spring weight. thanks Quentin
