the total width of the intercooler is 25" - at the top - or what I mounted at the top. That does not include the outlet tupes - just the plenums.... q

hey it's Q, as far as manifold pressure is concerned do we not experience the same problems with an intake manifold? That is why we measure the manifold pressure after the ITBs - across a balace tube - also where we take vacuum for things like BOV and brakes. Temperature is a bit of an issue - however since you are using atmosphere - through velocity stacks - i would suggest that the temperature is the ambient air temperature - and can me measured anywhere. I would not see the advantage of averaging. As far as stand alone systems go we all have our own opinion. I have tried to work with a Wolf system on an L28 and found it challenging - likely lack of experience. I went MicroTech for its compatability with the nissan sensors, sequential spark (no lost spark), and injector control. Along with integrated wideband. MicroTech is not without it's own challenges - but I find my car works well with the LT12S.

Rota RB 16X8 on 280Z??
fentin_fury replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
has anyone ordered these Rota wheels? if so how do they look? I hope the 16x8 comes out soon. q -
great car - very nice install. Great job on the website as well.

still travelling for business. I will be back on Thursday and the car goes in for rust proofing before storage. I will get the pictures taken then. q

Yes Mike that is how the oil cooler is mounted. All black to blend in - hard to notice from the front of the car. Q
-
will post some pictures of the rad, coolers etc. next week. Out of town right now on business.

I have the same setup and just spent sunday autocrossing - no problems. You mentioned you reveresed the outer race as necessary - I take it you are using the proper lubrication etc. and everything worked smoothly once back together. I am using the billet adapters - are you? One thing to check for would be to jack up the car and spin the tires - without the shafts in place. Make sure there is no visible deflections in the adapter - either up or down or in or out. They should run true! If there is visable deflection it is too much - in my opinion.

Need a picture of a RB25DET speedo sensor
fentin_fury replied to 240Z_Master's topic in Nissan RB Forum
Just an FYI - i am using an Autometer speedo (electronic) with the stock rb25 sending units. Works very well and was easy to calibrate. Measure 3.2 kilometres and push a button 3 times - that was it. Q -
Drew - I did use the 600 Venom injectors. No - I did not have them tested before installed. hmmm - something to consider once the snow is on the ground. The engine runs great - pulls hard from about 4000 - to 7000 (where I shift). No break ups - no hesitation - just some traction issues:burnout: I have left the boost set at 9psi while I get the tuning done. Still have a spike in the AFR at 2psi - will resolve that today - but the AFR trace is getting smooth. I'm hoping to be able to run 16psi on pump gas - no indication so far of any detonation - and with the 600cc injectors I am sure I can put enough fuel in. Q
-
No water injecftion - yet That is a surge tank and in front of it sits the fuel filter. Rather than baffle the stop 240Z gas tank I opted for a surge tank. Q
-
The mounts are Rick Wongs - found on this forum - and where the first things I bought. I used the toyota mounts as he recommended - gives you some adjustability. Very nice peices by the way - and they fit. Q
-
I used the original 240Z sending units for water temp and oil pressure. The autometer guages should come with their own sending units. It was easy to swap in the stock senders (bought a new one for the oil sender). Q

I am using a MicroTech Lt12S with ignition pack and their wide band O2. I don't know what you are refering to on the C clamp - sorry can't help there. Q

On the road and it is suppose to snow this weekend! some pictures From the rear Engine Bay shots Inside doing some tuning today - hopefully turning the boost controller clockwise! Q

I will get the sheet tonight and post the specs. FYI - I asked for and used a standard ring pack. q

I have driven the Z to work now for two days:) I am running at 9lbs boost right now until I get some miles on the new turbos - hope to increase that a "little" on the weekend. I must say the MicroTech Lt12S system I am using has proven to be quite easy to use - although not fully tuned - I am confident I will get there. The support at MicroTech however, remains questionable. I would recommend buying from a local dealer that will offer support. So I did get the car on the road before the snow - just. I will be doing some SOLO II stuff on Sunday - I'll see if I can solve the turbo lag by keeping the revs up! I'd like to thank this forum for all the information (useful) I found here - and I hope I added some. I'll take some pictures later today of the final install - plumming of the intercooler etc. Here's to 1.2 BAR!

Diamond pistons has made me a few sets of forged pistons for the L28 with a P90 head and 240Z rods. My design was a bumb up - with valve releifs - to increase compression ratio - however they do have the abilitiy to machine and surface on these you wish. http://www.diamondracing.net/ They have the correct pin height, etc. If you contact them and they can't locate their L28 info - PM me and I will give you the run numbers. it runs... It runs...RB26 and Mircotech

small update... no further tuning has happened although the exhaust system has been completed. I also ended up getting the billet CV adapters from Modern Motorsports vs. the welded units - I must say Ross was very quick to respond and ship the billet peices when I found a challenge with the welded adapters - thumbs up to Ross:icon14: Other challenges - some soft frame rail that is being repaired right now. I was a little supprized - I found this when installing the adjustable TC rods. Will be better than new now! Reversed the races in the CV joints and tore a boot - ordered new boots and they should be together this week. have to install some guages - boost, fuel pressure and a second oil pressure guage. I bought two sending units for my Ultra Light oil pressure guage and will wire it up to switch between fuel and oil. Also have to install the boost controller - picked up the turbonetics manual boost controller for mounting in the cabin - this could be dangerous! i hope to go to the strip on Saturday for a test run. I thought i would have the car on the road before it snowed here! Well i missed that when it snowed this week - unusual for Toronto. Cold air is dense though..... update next week Q -

that would be very useful to me. if you can get it - thanks in advance q -
Well the long awaited moment has happened. The engine cranked and fired. that is the good part. I am hoping someone out there can help with offering advise on tuning the Microtech LT12S. I adjusted the TPS and timing and they seem fine now. Engine runs much smoother. But man is it rich.... 650cc injectors and everything is black. Now I read good things about Microtech - and I purchased the LT12S, iginition pack and their wide band O2. What I find they are lacking is some basic tuning instructions. I don't have the hand held controller - but the laptop dongle interconnect. Things I notice that I find odd - the timing curve (map) jumps up to 30 by 2000 RPM - what should the timing curve of the RB26 look like? - the injector map - is flat and set at 0%. I am open to suggestions here, or a screen image. what is the difference between Matrix and Normal modes? Things left to do... exhaust, guages, get the alternator charging, 300 ZXT half shafts installed..... and tune. Q
