What Wheelsize witout zg fenders?
Tyler replied to RaGnaR_RattmuFF's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thank you! If you can get a chance to verify the backspacing, that would be great. I don't want to buy wheel spacers that are either too big or too narrow (Too expensive of a mistake). -
What Wheelsize witout zg fenders?
Tyler replied to RaGnaR_RattmuFF's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks for the info. I have considered some ground control coilovers. Keeping my eye out for a good deal to cross my way. So with that 7mm spacer, that'll bring you to a +3 offset? Also, do you know what the backspacing is on your wheels. I'm guessing my subzeros may not fit. I measured the backsapce- 6". What's the max backspace on a stock suspension 240z compared to one running ground controls? -

I'm still confused as to what wheels will fit under a stock suspension 240z. What are the specs for the stock wheels? That way I can plug that into the offset calculator and see if these will fit. I tried fitting on some rota subzeros: 17x8 +45, but of course it hit the suspension (running stock springs). I did a rough measurement with a tape measure and it looks like I need about 1.5" to clear. The measuring was really quick just so I can get an idea. Anyway, anyone running similar spec wheels? What size spacer did you use? How close to the suspension are you? Also, using your 8.5 with a -6 offset plugged into the calculator http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp it says: Inner clearance: 45mm LESS Outer Position: RETRACT by 57mm So does that mean I would need a 45mm spacer to have the same position as yours? -
2001-2005 sentra se-r rotors on 240z Front Brakes
Tyler replied to Tyler's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ah, thank you! I didn't know that. I guess scrap this idea. -
It's so weird that my car across the country has the same fabric upholstered. Only difference is mine has black vinyl backs. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.

2001-2005 sentra se-r rotors on 240z Front Brakes
Tyler replied to Tyler's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Would it beneficial to have the extra surface area for heat dissipation? I'm wondering this because people use the very large 300zx non-turbo rotor with 240sx calipers for the rears (the rotor is huge in comparison). -
Since I have some toyota 4x4 4-piston calipers and 300xz vented rotors with spacers in my possession, I was a bit curious as to what other rotors would work. I have sitting in my garage stock size front vented rotors from my 2002 Sentra SE-R SpecV. They are 4x114.3, same hub thickness as the 300zx with spacer, butare a bit larger in diameter. The 300zx rotors are 10 3/4" across and the sentra rotors are 11". Has anyone tried using these before? Any other measurements that need to be taken to ensure proper fitting. I may try to fit them when I do my swap to see if anything can come of this, but I'll end up using the 300zx rotors since they are new and cross drilled and slotted.

Invaluable information! Thank you for the time and effort.

Do I need a new BMC?
Tyler replied to crazyoctopus's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'm not sure if it is the mc or anything, but you can buy a rebuilt one from autozone for fairly cheap and turn that one in for the core. -
Looks just like mine. Are the backs vinyl?

I tried my banjo bolt from the 240sx caliper and it fits a vented toyota 4x4 caliper. Double checking the other end- is it a female 10mmx 1? How about angles? Fronts and backs the same? Also, I messaged an ebay seller and he sent me this link. Custom SS Brake Lines So you can choose any size fittings, angles, lengths, and finishes.

I was wondering if anyone has switched over from having a 240sx rear caliper brake conversion to Toyota 4x4 vented or vice-versa. Deciding whether I should go with the four piston setup all around or go with the 240sx in the rears and 4x4 up front. I will of course be running them with a 15/16 mc and a proportioning valve. Thanks

Now that's just not fair! I want my garage to look like that. Blue would be my second choice.

Orange- so lovely! Right now I sit with a white z hoping one day I'll wake up and it'll be orange.

I always thought those required the 220v outlet. Interested in the outcome.

I have both toyota 4x4 (vented) and 240sx rear conversion kits sitting in my garage right now. I too am a bit confused as to the interchangeability of the brake lines. I have the banjo lines that came with the 240sx and tried fitting them on the 4x4 and it seemed to take a bit of pressure to get it threaded (maybe due to build-up/paint). I didn't want to strip anything so I didn't try it all the way. Any definite answers?

For those w/ rear disc conversions
Tyler replied to xShodaimex's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Anyone with the 240sx rear conversion from silver mine motorsports care to share their instructions? I bought a kit used and need a little guidance on the parking brake extension. Thanks! Tyler -
Man, you over paid! I'll tell you what- I'll give you $350 since I'm such a nice guy and take it off your hands. In all seriousness, you got one heck of a deal.

1972 Tripple Webers Cranks but wont run
Tyler replied to Tyler's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Problem solved! (Night) + (Pre-workout energy drink) x (frustration) = not a thorough enough inspection of all wires. I missed one little wire underneath the ProMaster ignition- the positive lead to the ballast resistor. I felt like such a dope (yet relieved) after hooking that little wire back and the car firing up so beautifully. Thank you random Z guy whom stopped and helped me test fuel pressure throughout my entire system at 11 at night while I was stranded on the side of the road! -
Well I finally got the carbs synched and running great- the car just died on me! Info on the car: L24 Tripple Weber 45 DCOE - 36mm chockes - 145 mains - 195 air Mallory Unilite/ pro master Electric Fuel Pump FPR set at 3.5 psi ____________________________ I was driving and the car just died. I pulled over and tried cranking it. It turned over and didn't sound like any battery problems. I gassed it and then it would rev up really quickly and then die. I could not get it to idle at all- just rev and then die. I checked the fuel pressure and it read 3-4 psi. I disconnected the hose after the electric fuel pump to make sure fuel was coming out while cranking it and it did just fine (looks to not be a clogged fuel line or filter) HELP!

That is exactly what I was looking searching for! Thanks!

Ah, good tip about checking to see if gas will melt the foam. *edit- letting it soak in some gas and nothing happening so far. Reason I chose the shop vac stuff is I'm guessing the manufacturer of the material knows that all kinds of stuff will be vacuumed up in a shop with all kinds of chemicals.
