  1. LOL You Guys Here you go Les Stockton Wheel (209) 464-7771 Donna
  2. Opps... Hi Joel! LOL I recognized that motor of yours, but I didn't connect your handle. Sorry PS.... New update not using the StageV, but the R-StageVI. The rest is shhhhh..... Donna
  3. I think James is right on! High hp (and don't forget torque)can be made but it requires a system that is matched in all regards, cr, cam, valve size, cubic inches, rod length, intercooller, backpressure, tuning, etc. but most of all... cfm and compressor efficiency. All things being equal 1.6 cfm equall 1 hp. But only up to a point. Non-cross flow two valve heads don't make Supra or Honda hp levels. Think about focusing on your cfm requirement, where on your power band you want it and the limitations of your engines' breathing capability and charastics. High hp comes from the volume and temp of the inlet air, not just psi. In order to make 500+ hp you will probably have to give up some spoolup response under 4000 rpm. Talk to a pro, someone like Reed at Turbo Specialties, or the turbonetics guys. Tell them your goal and let them do their thing. James mentioned the euro spec t3. A friend of mine TimO is running a euro spec tangential t3 on a fully built 2.8 in a 240z with twm induction and a well tuned Tec II. His turbo puts out about 860 cfm at 18 psi with over 80% efficiency, spools to 18 psi by 3800 and pulls to 7,500 without any fall off. He hasn't put it on the dyno but this euro spec t3 hybrid spins the tires all the way through second gear and half way through third. My point being he had a pro size the turbo for his goal. Do it your way, make it unique, but consider talking to a pro about sizing your turbo. If the person doesn't ask about your cam, induction, cr, etc blow him off and talk with someone who asks the right questions and will custom design a turbo exactly for you. Good Luck Donna
  4. Very interesting topic..... I was surprised to see this stage 5 used so much in conversation. When Reed talked about it. I was like Huh? Never heard that one before. Question tho.... If using this bigger A/R wheel. Won't you have problems with air density? What I mean is... with all that whipped up air from the turbine becoming super heated and loosing it's density which means less oxygen which means less HP. How efficient is this? I understand an efficient high CFM intercooler would help, but is it enough? Donna PS.. James, I took your advice and plus, with the experience that TimO has with his new turbo built by Reed. You might say, mine should be here shortly. It was recommend by him. Since my new motor will be bummped up and running with TWM's. He put together a unit running the new stage 5 with his magic touches for high efficiency and fast spool ups
  5. Thanks Everyone for your input But this doesn't look good Hey Randy! I didn't see you at the show Number 2 looks pretty bad. Scarred cylinder wall on one side. This weekend the block will be pulled, so I can tear that down and see how bad this piston is. My RC's 550cc injectors are brand new with a blueprint flow sheet that came with them. She wasn't running lean at all before. Only thing I can come up with is... maybe I didn't have the quick disconnet on tight enough??? Maybe I bumped it while polishing up my throttle rail. Plus, I detailed the motor before the show. I only run Union 76 91 octane in her. I am running a K&N billet fuel filter too. I am wondering if this can be fixed, buy one new piston and a ring set, or will I have to go with a bigger bore on all six, or just pull my other donor turbo motor block and start fresh again. Darn it, Darn it, Darn it. You're more then welcome to swing on by. Donna PS.. How's that speed boat of yours?
  6. I noticed a little white smoke coming from my breather from the valve cover. I pulled the spark plug. Did a compression test on all six. All reading very close together, except number 2 cylinder. (Down to 50 PSI) Pulled the valve cover to make sure my valve wasn't too tight. Nope, it was fine. Then we put some oil into it, Then compression came back up. What are the "other" Tests that could tell me different? Whether it's a piston or ring? My pistons are Ross's forged. Thanks for the replies Donna
  7. Sorry Everyone... I was really looking forward to going... But today just wasn't my day. Or should I say my ZXT day. Found a broken piston ring. Friend of mine confirmed my worst fear tonight. Next time Donna
  8. I have a question for you. My #2 piston -Total Seal Ring went bye-bye on me. Wet test confirmed my worst fears. What I would like to know from you guys Is what rings are you running on your highly modified turbo's. What have you guys stayed away from. My ZXT only had 7000-7500 miles on her. With no detonations or leanness per my EGT's and monitoring with the TEC unit. Donna
  9. scca, I think we need to trace this. I haven't seen it as of yet. I left you an email a couple of days ago Maybe you have been busy too. Donna
  10. Yes! I am also curious to hear more about this too Still waiting for Mr. Postman to come Donna
  11. Hey Rags! Yippee! Hehehe... I am not the only one running the TEC in a ZX. Question for ya. Have you done your tachometer yet? My FSM I believe is not right. Unless I'm getting crossed eyed! lol Instrument harness shows pin 322 Yellow for tach. But it will also show another 322 W/R for brake light on a different connecting plug for the back of the combination unit. When you follow the harness to the main harness (Green) grrrrrrrrrr... It shows up with the W/R as 322 What gives? I would like to use my stock tach. Me stock? Whats stock to you Oh what Joy it is to play with our ZTOYS! Donna
  12. Thanks Guys I appreciated your input What's this Randy? Your not going Rio Vista??? Can't you call in sick? Hey I'll call in for ya! Let me know when's a good time for you to swing on by. This weekend would be tough tho Thanks Again Donna
  13. My ZXT only needs to be smog if I was to sell her.(Small town country law) Smog once and that's it. Until they decide to change it in the future at some point. I'm not worried at this time That's what I'm trying to understand.. The crankcase, cam cover and PVC. If I remove the canister....what can I do about the fuel vapor line??? Donna
  14. I would like some of your expertise in helping me to understand somethings. I'm currently installing Tec into my 83ZXT. At this point, I am almost done removing items. I'm not understanding the use of the flame resistor from the valve cover to the turbo boot between the airflow meter. Also the vacuum line leading from boot into the charcoal canister. I would like to deal away with this boot. What's the purpose of these? Also, what's up with the line running from under throttle body into charcoal canister. Can these lines be eliminated when using a aftermarket EMS? If so, then will my vent fuel line still be okay ? Another question... Will my PVC be affected too? Thanks Donna
  15. Thank-You Randy... Can you find another new toy that you showed me today??? Donna
  16. Datto.... Shhhh I didn't mean too I must say it is kinda of fun playing with the BOV Hey Scot! Hehe another stuck in Lodi huh? What do you drive? Perhaps I've seen ya??? Donna
  17. Thanks! I'm also running the 60mm Big-Throat throttle body. That helped alot Thank-You Randy... Perhaps I can get you to come on up to Lodi some Sat. I buy lunch I have access anytime to a smog-dyno machine. It would be great for for us to get together. I talked about this with TimO and he's getting closer to getting his up and running too Hehe Z tuning day Donna
  18. Oops Sorry TimZ. You are running one. Question for you... What throttle body is that? And may I ask where did you plumb your IAC? Thanks Again, Donna
  19. Thanks Randy! This week has been kinda slow. I may just hop on the freeway and pay you a visit I really appreciate it. TimZ, I have seen your Z!!! Can I PLEASE have that intake of yours Seen some Very Nice set-ups that can be done with these fun little L6's. Are you using the IAC with your TEC? I've talked with Tim O and he's not going to use it. Now I need to think where it's gonna go. Donna *Ahh...the joy of learning*
  20. This Tec will be going into a 83zxt daily driver. I want to keep my A/C (Sunny Ca.) I'm trying to get everything ready for less down time. This unit didn't come w/IAC when I purchased it. And this question has been lurking in the back of my head. x() Donna
  21. I have a question's for you TEC-2 user's Anyone of you using the IAC with your set-up? I'm currently running stock intake and as it sits now it use's the stock air regulator(two wire)and AAC valve, vacuum control valve, plus it feeds to the FICD. Can I remove it all and have a cleaner intake with IAC for TEC? Or do I have to keep that mess on my intake manifold? I sure would like a cleaner looking motor like some of you fellow Tec user's Open to suggestions..... Thanks, Donna *Boy is this a learning experience*
  22. Now you guys are scaring me with the Wintec. I just upgraded my Tech. from a DOS program chip to Wintech chip. Donna
  23. If someone could help with this question. I would appreciate it I searched the forum and didn't see anything to help me out. While comparing the RC-PL8 550cc injector to stock. I noticed that the RC tips are about 1/4" shorter then the stock injectors. Will this cause a problem due to the shortness? Or I'm I going to have to find a slimmer o-ring? Everything else fits perfect and looks the same. Thank-You, Donna
  24. To be honest with you... I upgraded my wires along with doing the spark plugs. (Also raised the boost) I do have a friend that used the NGK-R then swapped to Denso's Iriduims and the dyno showed an improvement. Denso's Iriduims run @ 13.00 a piece. I thought I would give them a try at half the cost I've seen how Splitfire's V breakes off. NGK's are the only one that works well with the Z that I have found. Donna
