Had a day off Monday after Christmas so I was really able to get the Z into official project car mode. Kinda sad to think that I most likely will not be able to enjoy this car next spring/summer... With help from my uncle, we dropped the exhaust, and then the driveshaft. After that, we dropped the fuel tank, followed by the rear suspension/brakes/diff as an assembly. I also took out the rear tail lights and all side markers. Thanks for looking. I'm off again next Monday so I plan on having more updates.

Having a Little Fun Before Putting Up for the Winter
S30Mark replied to CruiZZZin 78's topic in Non Tech Board
Very nice! Thank you for knowing how to do a proper burnout. What engine? -
My amazing GF got me a brand new 130 amp MIG welder for Christmas! That thing is going to get a workout as soon as I get a tank of Argon. I also have a couple 3 day weekends coming up, so I will hope to start tearing down the S30. I need to work on the ZX drive ability issues now that it starts and drives. I still have the single-wire oxygen sensor so I'll need to get a 3 wire and wire it into the Z31 ECU setup. I think I have a couple small vacuum/boost leaks at the injector o-rings. Hope it runs good after that. I guess only time will tell....

Woooooooooooooow! That color is amazing! Let's see more pics of the cage... And I love that you shaved the emblems on the pillars and the side markers.

IT'S ALIVE!!! Z31 Turbo MAF/ECU/Crank Sensor/Coil/Igniter was a success. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders...

I'm interested. I'll most likely buy two.

I like your style My car does neeed to be lower... And your car needs to be higher! Haha.

I popped the valve cover off the L28ET last night and verified timing between Cam/Crank/Distributor. Everything seems perfect. Tonight I'll go over all of my wiring for the Z31 MAF/ECU swap. I'll also add die electric grease to all important sensor connectors and throw in a freshly charged battery. I may either replace the plugs or clean the current NGK's as they seem to be pretty fouled.

Well I had planned on getting a new hatch seal which never happened. It didn't really help with the fumes, but it did help with the noise. Ricer4lyfe!!1111!11!!!!ONE!1 Yea, there was one time when I started the car after a few days of hard rain and I hear a noise like rainfall for a few seconds. I get out and walk to the back of my car and the ground looks like I shot a water cannon out of my tail pipe about 10-12 feet. Pretty stupid I know.... Haha

Congrats on your Speed Hunters FB Wall photo! I love your style. Keep doin what you're doin:) S30 and Camaro on FB -
I guess I'm going to start my project soon. I have a 74 260Z and I recently picked up a 83 280ZX turbo donor car for cheap:) So far I've been messing with the ZXT trying to get it running. I did the Z31 ECU/MAF swap and still cannot get it running. I'm getting fuel and spark, and engine has good compression. Next I'm going to check the timing. This thing has me stumped and I'm very close to tearing everything out of the S130 and going with MegaSquirt. Best case scenario would be for me to get the L28ET fired up and running decent before I pull it out of the donor car. Anyway, on to the pics of small things I've done up until now. Bougth it from Tennessee. It barely ran, and had no brakes. Rebuilt the Weber DGV's and replaced the rear brake lines to make it street worthy. Replaced tires so I could run all 4 slotted mags. Removed the fuel tank so I could remove the rear bumper supports. Cut a coil off of the rear springs for a slightly better stance. Installed a boso pipe:) Picked up front turn signals and a MSA front spoiler so I could replace the 280Z spoiler that came on it (now for sale, PM me). Bought a 83 280ZX Turbo 5 speed as a donor car. So far I'm in the process of getting it running with Z31 ECU/MAF before I pull all my parts... Now the Z sits in the garage waiting for some much needed attention. I'm sure I'll spend plenty of time out here this winter:) Thanks for looking!

Well, I needed an exhaust and I didn't want to spend any money on it because I knew it wouldn't be on there very long. I'm about to begin the tear down process to start my long project. Figured I'd at least share some pics. Here's my friend Jon welding up the pipes that I supplied. (Extra piping and old intercooler piping from my other car, notice how some sections are painted black? Haha) Hope you like it, or not, I don't care really because I liked it:)

Cool, thanks, every place I've looked they've been closer to $200 or more.

Title says it. I've had my ZX master ready to go in since last summer but my booster is leaking (vacuum), so rather than install the master and remove it to install a booster I'd rather do it in one shot. I'm looking for a booster in good shape (no major/deep rust). I'd prefer one from a dry climate zone or one that hasn't been sitting in a parts car for 30 years... This is going in an early 74 260Z, 4 speed. I'm located in Cincinnati, OH and I do have paypal. Let me know what you have and how much you want. Thank you.

Replacement Options for stock combo switches
S30Mark replied to HCS01's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I'm interested in this as well. I will not be running wipers on my car, so I'd like a modern Nissan headlight/turn signal switch. That would be much cooler than having two seperate switches when I could have one to do both functions and eliminate the wiper switch. -
Awesome! After riding in a friend's Wilwood equipped B13 Sentra SE-R at the National Nissan Convention at Mid-America I knew I had to get them. This will probably be the first major mod to my Z.

Carburetor woes.... Help me out?
S30Mark replied to S30Mark's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks. I've also heard a lot of complaints with these carbs and I'm looking for more of a "set it and forget it" type setup. I've already been through the basics and then back multiple times. -
Carburetor woes.... Help me out?
S30Mark replied to S30Mark's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks everyone. I'm going to look deeper into a SU rebuild. I swore I saw an exploded view and they looked pretty complicated. I don't hate the DGV's, but like I said, I've messed with them over and over again and it seems like any significant change in temperature causes them to act up. At idle the front carb doesn't even do anything. Runs on 3 cylinders at idle and sounds kinda lopey like a tractor. I think maybe a 4 barrel conversion is more than I want to spend. -
So I have dual Weber DGV's and I'm kinda tired of them. They refuse to start in the cold, and they seem to be tough to tune. When I got the car it would run but wasn't driveable. I rebuilt them and got it running fairly decent but it seemed like the front carb wouldn't provide fuel at idle. Anything off idle was pretty darn good. I'm just looking for some advice. I'm not really worried about making a lot of power. I'm more concerned about reliability/driveability bang for the buck. Do I? A) Keep the Webers because I've already rebuilt them, and just continue to tinker w/them until I do an engine swap in the next 2-3 years? B ) Get a 4 barrel conversion? Seems kinda pricey/hard to find used ones? (I like this option because it seems like the most reliable.) C) Get some Hitachi SU's and hope the rebuild isn't too expensive? Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated. Yes I've researched... Thanks.

Nissan Technician The car that got me into the import scene was my uncles Z32, slicktop 2 seat 5 speed. Taught me how to drive a stick in it when I was 14 and I actually did pretty well

Speed is relative... John Force thinks all of our cars are slow. -

Over the weekend I had some young girls (18-20ish ) hollerin at me. They rolled the windows down as we're drivin ~20mph and yelled that they love my car. It's not much to look at, but it does get attention -
I could live with 14-17mpgs in a Titan because the VK56DE has gobs of HP and torque. They never cease to amaze me. What I can NOT live with is 14-17mpgs in my XTERRA that can't even get out of it's own way...

Yea, I always love when people say, "Man, those cars are fast!" I always think, no... not really. I'd get waxed by some mini-vans:) I was pulling into a parking space and 2 guys walked by and one said, "260Z! I test drove one of those when they were brand new.... It was fast!"
