  2. yes tuning is crutial to the response of the car. When i turboed my 02 civic si, i had turbo lag between the time i installed it and the time i spent on the dyno. I normally would have full boost by 5200rpms before the tuning, and after i had full boost @ 3800. This was done using a Turbonetics T3/60-1 turbo. This thing was enormous for a *eco* vtec honda 4 cylinder.
  3. is there anyone around North County (San Diego) that has installed their megasquirt? I am having trouble connecting from the computer to the ECU. I really need to get this car going and was hoping someone might have a stimulator i could borrow to see if the ECU is messed up.

    12v source

    okay for the main relay i have it connected for the (on) position on my ignition. I also have the fuel pump relay in the same location for #86 (yellow)on the relay. Is this correct or is MS suppose to be connected to Accessories? I know its a dumb question but i still cant connect to my MS unit with my laptop and im trying to work out some way to get it to work. yes i realize it would be easier to just buy a stim board but if anyone could help me out without using it would be great. I dont have 75 bucks spare for me to buy a stim.
  6. Please anyone from San Diego or North County Region, would you please help me out with my damn megasquirt. I cant understand why it is not working. I bought it assembled and have double check all my wires and connections. I still cannot connect to my ecu and i know i have a straight through db9 cable. Any thing would help right about now. PS i have read through http://www.megasquirt.info and posted in the forums. I need someone local to please help me in person.
  7. when the car is on the (on) position... is the megasquirt unit supposed to have any lights on? I dont have a stim or anyone else with a megasquirt i know of around my area so i dont know what its supposed to do before cranking. My megasquirt unit is getting 12v to the wiring harness but i cant tell if its the box or if its my connection to the unit. I bought a serial cable from diyautotune.com so i know its straight thru. When i have the key on (on) the MS warmup light lights for about 3 seconds then turns off. Is this normal?
  8. i had the same problem and i decided to start over with the wiring... im waiting on my ignition module and havent tried since. I would get the red (warmup) light on for like 2 seconds then it turn off. I couldnt even connect to it with the laptop.

  10. i read in the sticky that d8 has to be shortened out... has anyone installed an already ASSEMBLED ms-unit without having to do so and working out okay? I bought mine assembled and im a bit weary about messing with it.
  11. i received my megasquirt V2.2 but was sent with a complete wiring harness for V3.0. It also came with the V3.0 external wiring diagram. Should i follow that same wiring diagram or follow the old 2.2 diagram? I have an l28et with an 82' Dizzy... also do i need to add any resistors to my dizzy connections? Ive seen a couple diagrams with a 1k resistor. this is how my dizzy is connected. black = ground white = to MS pin 24 green = not connected red = connected to ms 12v wire
  12. okay well i checked the 12V wire leading to megasquirt and it has a current. My problem is i cant log into megasquirt with my laptop. Also the led lights on the megasquirt only turn on for 2 seconds right when i connect the negative terminal on the battery. The light turns on and the fuel pump turns on as well. I have no clue what could be wrong, has anyone had this kind of problem?

    Starter

    I have just swapped my l28et into my 240z that had a 81' NA 280zx and i cant get it to crank over. It sounds like the starter is stuck. Is it possible that since the na flywheel is 225mm, that the 240mm flywheel is too big for my starter?

  15. file the rings down, you want the end of the ring to be evenly flat... some rebuilders round off the sharp edges but very lightly.

  18. a friend of mine wants to turbo his subaru automatic and wants to know if megasquirt can work with it. I know his ECU controls his tranny, but he wants full control over fuel and spark. Is there a way he would be able to do this?

    IAT Sensor

    i know this maybe a stupid question, but could i just use any IAT sensor with megasquirt? I plan on pulling one from my old honda and was wondering if it would work...
  22. i know this might be a long shot, but do you guys think this might be too big for the ol' l28et... Its a GT Journal Bearing turbo...
