  1. im running 34 degrees total timing on 91 pump it happens full throttle, and part throttle @ highway speeds. Im pretty sure its the distributor because during grid lock traffic today the tachometer was going crazy just sitting on idle. This would be the 3rd distributor replaced this year which is getting rediculous.
  2. ive tried everything but i still get bucking when more than half throttle. I had replaced my ignition cap and rotor, wires, plugs, coil... i dont think it could be vapor lock or anything fuel related because when the car starts to buck, the tachometer goes up and down all over the place.
  3. Castrol Sytec 10w30 Full Synthetic (all year round)-SoCal hmmm am i a lil bit too thin of oil? seems like everyone else is pretty thick
  4. Hey guys, i just put on my n42 head on my f54 block and im a lil worried that im not getting oil to the valvetrain. This happened to me before back in march when i installed this head. Since then i had the head checked out and repaired. Now i have installed one of the older type head gaskets 77-78... i didnt see any significant differences between this and the newer ones (F54 81-83). My head has both internal and external oiling, but when i started the car (without valvecover) i could not see oil flaring up like i would with my p79 head. To those who are running bother oiling systems, at idle are you getting any visible oil when running at idle?
  5. i have a 2.5" exhaust with a dynomax bullet muffler right after my header... after that its all piping to the rear. It sounds AWESOME:icon46:

    no more go

sounds like maybe your clutch flipped up the ghost:sad:
  7. right now im in another pickle... when i placed my driveshaft onto the car, it seems to be an inch off... i can bolt it onto the diff flange but slip yoke will not sit flush onto the transmission sleeve. there is about an inch or so of space available. My question is, would it be safe to run it like this? I got the whole package from garrett76zt (tranny and driveshaft). He has basically the same setup (r200 rear, l28 engine) yet it came up short? I dont think there is there is a difference from the 72' 240z and the 76 280z from the transmission to differential.
  8. is there a specific car that i could find this at an automotive parts store? Most people who work at autozone or Kragen wont know what im looking for unless they plug it in the computer ...
  9. well first i asked the guy at NAPA for a 1977-1982 Chevy Caprice... turned out there were none available so i told him that i just needed a general motors transmission mount and was lucky enough to have one available. Unfortunately i dont know what car he looked up for or if he just looked it up under the car manufacturer GM.
  10. Author: pallnet Date: Jul 28, 10:56pm Slot the stock Z tranny member and mount the GM mount to the tranny. It all goes together with no issues. Did this today!!! no problems whatsoever... i think that this should be included in a KA tranny conversion sticky one of these days. It makes things less stressful. Thanks jon
  11. pallnet from zcar.com suggested that i buy a bone stock GM transmission mount and that it should be perfect to use with my stock tranny crossmember. By the looks of it, it should work perfectly but has anyone else on this board gone this route?
  12. right now im in a pickle... ive searched all over the net trying to figure out how you guys were able to install the tranny mount and i have no luck. Ive also slotted the hole of my original tranny crossmember in order to try and move it a tad forward, but its still too short. Any help would be awesome... jon

  15. I had the same thing happen to me when i went down to San Diego to have my cam reground. I told them i wanted a .495/290-290 and they suggested i take the .488/284-284 However i called them the following day and told them to grind it to the .495
  16. i would choose the Falken Azenis RT-615 hands down
  17. very nice set i would be interested in a group buy
  18. VERY NICE...im looking to do the same (ITBS) and fuel injection. What kind of kit is that and where can i find them?
  19. try running it without the o2 sensor. I know my z ran better without it for some weird reason. I guess it throws it into a limp mode and runs richer.
