  1. Scotty I thought your times were good! Dial it in! But your Differential is talking to you? You running a R200 what gearing? Hope its not the worst case senerio. Fingers crossed, good luck! Len
  2. Did you change your timing since this happened? Reason why I'm into this subject is because last year I had that problem too. I really don't know what fixed it for me. Since I changed my afm to turbo boot redid connections on temp sensor. Installed new injector connectors. adjusted my timing. Re soldered all the splices I had where ECM ties into harness (I did that because sometimes car would run ratty accelerating till I wiggled plugs connecting my ECM). Good Luck Len By the way my Idle is real low when air conditioning on but bearable. Runs fine with air conditioning off.
  3. Boy your fast I just edited my post and you had already replied!
  4. Jersey Don't know what the weather is like over there in "Jersey" (didn't do that on purpose) but when this happened was there a temp change? Did it get warmer? Meaning less oxy in the air causing car to run rich? Just a thought. I know at the dragstrip with all the carbon monoxide in the air, no wind. My car along with a few others run richer. Also I tried removing my vac. booster on top of intake that runs across to idle control for my air conditioner. Outcome;bad idle. I then reinstalled it. But I have air conditioning; so you may be able to run your car without it.
  5. Yea I remember the discussion last year when someone mentioned that he knew from a reliable source that the sensors will be made really scarce. I guess it happened! So looks like wait for AEM to come up with a display to be compatable for L28 turbos. What do you think about the quality of those $30 sensors. Will they be as good as the $150 units that a person (if lucky enough) can find on some honda's at a salvage yard?
  6. What does "FJO" standfor? Do they have a website? Cost?
  7. you could possibly do it except. With those hi compression heads, pistons; you won't be able to use much boost. Also your AFM is smaller than a zxt. I really think you would have much less problems if you could find the EFI off a 280zxt. That way it would be all there and just have to do minor tweaking. Better yet get the whole engine while your at it
  8. Thanks for the reply Warren. The Tranny on the 300zxt was shot otherwise I would try to stuff it all in. They sold the car anyway.
  9. I really got a kick out of GUS and his hot 12 sec. Dodge Caravan! I bought the same device from http://www.dawesdevices.com (to lazy to build it myself) Along with his Air/fuel gauge. works fine for me. Around 15 psi plus you may need to either add a washer or streach the spring a bit to add more boost. Good bang for your buck! I even bought my ultraflow muffler because of his muffler test. Really happy with it! When you guys showed part of his website. I then read he died. Really sorry to hear. He was great guy!
  10. Since the damage is already done. I'd just wait till you get your engine installed then see exactly the angle to be welded/clamped.
  11. check if your getting enough powerful spark. (remove sparkplug , ground sparkplug see what you got). Alot of times your coil etc. are not producing enough spark(white not yellow) to ignite.
  12. From other post looks like a twin turbo will fit a 240z. I was wondering how hard fitting a 84 300zxTurbo in a 280Z and can a 280z or a 280zx tranny match up? If that doesn't work can the 300zxT turbo dished pistons/ rods fit in a L28 engine if engine could be bored out to 300zxT size? I have a chance to get a 84 300zxT car (tranny is bad) and I do have a 280Z car, thought it could be fun to change it out as mentioned above.
  13. Thanks guys! I rebuilt my drivers side caliper along with new pads and rotors last year. Also I have the clips top and bottom of pads. I remember a plate next to the inside pad but don't remember any plastic spacers. But I really think Its just gotta be the pins/bushings that the the bolts that hold the calipers on is just worn (what the little rubber boot goes around). I will pick up set of 4 at O'reilly's tonight for $6.90. If that isn't it then I hope its not the hole in the calipers that the pin/bushing goes into. Cause that would require rebuilt calipers ($29.90 each). I try the pins first. Len
  14. Racer and David I finally learned to download my Digital camera on my PC although I can't seem to figure out how to post on Hybrid. So I will send you guys an E-mail. Len
  15. On my rear calipers on my 280zxT both sides can be juggled when I shake them. Even though they are bolted on tight. Is there such a thing as bushings or even the bolts that mount them wearing to the point to cause play to the point of making them rattle. BTW I rebuilt the rear drivers side last year and no such thing came in the package. Its hard to look cool driving down the street or out of a parking lot with that clicking sound.
  16. Glad I read your post SoM. From the input of you, Guy and Greimann. If I ever blow up my 280zxT engine or tranny for that matter. I've got hope to install my 1996 Lt1/T56 (sitting on the floor of my shop) in my 83 z. Sounds as if I can still use drivers side exaust manifold (off 96 lt1)that could possibly clear my rack and pinion power steering (of course without that big Cat tied directly to drivers side manifold. I would hate to do it but all the work I put in my zxt interior/frame etc. its nice to know there can be life after turbo/engine/tranny malfunction..... Now if I got your input right. What if you guys used the power steering setup on the later (83) z. Out of a salvage yard and installed it on your earlier zx's. Would that do the trick?
  17. the 70 firebird (really 70 1/2)was the first year of the 2nd generation body style. The rear has like three slits about 8" long by 1" together on either side. The formula hood has two long snorkel scoops (2" by 10" wide facing and starting at the very front of hood sloping down to nothing tward the windshield. I swear I am gonna learn to use my daughters digital camera real soon so I can take pictures!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Hi Guys I'm currently doing father son bonding with my 15yr. old. We are getting his 1970 firebird ready for paint. Last month I found a Fiberglass Formula Hood at a swap meet for $45. Which is great since haven't seen them on ebay for less that $300 (add $90 shipping to that). Well at that price we need to do Fiberglass work. I talked to a guy at a Body/Paint supply and he asked if it was same type fiberglass as a Corvette. I didn't know I thought all were the same. He said a Corvette uses a "SMC" fiberglass. Which is NOT the same as regular fiberglass. Do any of you know what type fiberglass is used for the stock 1970 Firebird Formula Hood and also the Rear fiberglass panel between the tailights? I know this is not Z related but "hey yous guys are my buds". My family you know what I mean? There is sooo... much wealth of information on our site. I figure why go anywhere else? But then again I could be wrong Len
  19. Really happy for you Tim. Time a little good luck and happy Z things happen once in a while to make life complete. Keep it up buddy!

    Sad day

HUH? Hang on a min. guys! Let me put down this erotic foldout pic. of Julie Andrews in the "Sound of Music" (you know the one don't deny it, where she's in that sexy maids uniform.....Her hills are alive!!! with .....I forgot the rest......mmmmmmmmmm). Oh yea where were we? On HybridZ reading a very informative post started by Scottie concerning performance. My generation always swore by "STP" If somthing doesn't work right put a little STP in it! Nowadays someone done named a rock group after that stuff!
  21. Don't need it unless you are running air conditioning. then its nice to up your idle to allow for added stress on engine caused by creature comforts. Len In Oklahoma you'd be thankful you got it!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Thanks for the information on the sprayguns. I'll check into those Advantage sprayguns, DeVilbiss to for that matter. Spirit, you don't realize this compressor is part of a larger grander plan! ITS MY DESTINY! But seriously I've had this in the works for sometime. Its more than a one shot thing. I've got plans. Yea I hear that Metallicar. I'll be explaining that for the 6 hour drive to Littlerock AR. for my son's Sub regional soccer tournment this weekend!
  23. Thanks Tim for the address. I will drop him a snail mail. I guess Tomahawk doesn't have access to internet otherwise he would be here with us.
  24. Yea! Last night I sat in a chair infront of that big beautiful yellow compressor drank a few beers. Made some compressor sounds! Life is good! Until I went into the house and explained to the wife why I really needed to spend $629 for a compressor when I already had one (my 1 1/2 hp campbell hausfield portable I've had for 17 years!). When we haven't installed the oak flooring we talked about. .......:oops:But the money is there to do that to! They don't understand. I'm sure glad I make the money in the house. So I don't answer to anyone except myself! Which can be tough sometimes. I'm harder on me than anyone I know! Otherwise life could really be uncomfortable!
