  1. I believe Cody mentioned to me he used a RRFPR like the cartech one in MSA. When he had stock injectors in his Z. That way you could squeeze out as much gas as possible with stock injectors.
  2. I misunderstood I thought from your last post you mentioned running 2 02 sensors. But you said "2 gas sensor". Nevermind.
  3. What would be the benefits of dual 02 sensors? Possibly stronger signal? I guess if located in different locations; could give a more accurate combined reading?

    Sanderson CC2's

I've been there; go for it! Good luck! We are with you!
  5. yo2001 Do you have a website (or a sales outlet) for "Vortex". I did a search engine and couldn't find them.
  6. Right on Tim! Don't fight gravity. Less of a chance of starving engine of life giving OIL. Which in turn would not allow proper circulation of turbo. And we know what would happen then! burnt bearings
  7. WOW! That is one deadly looking turbo/wastegate! Can't wait to hear how she runs installed! Hey Jeff I also got to say, you have got a really nice website!
  8. If you keep stock injectors on your 280zxt then RRFPR would be the answer(it would max out your stock injectors). If that is the case then you could also check E-bay. They have ones from time to time. Now if you are going to install larger injectors with your mentioned mods then you would want to buy a Adjustable Fuel press. regulator vac. indexed 1 to 1 (as compared to RRFPR 4 to 1 thats 4 psi. to 1 of vac.). You can buy a AFPR from Jegs for around $114 to $129. Len
  9. If you have a Napa auto store. They sell the heavy duty T clamps you normally see on the web for $4 for $2.60.
  10. In the last month I've seen 3 to 4 P-90 (one p-90a solid lifter) heads on E-bay. They sold from $75 to $125. Right now in this space in time the Datsun 280z/zx/zxt are sleepers! They are cheap to make mucho mas power . Don't know what I could say a few years from now when all you lead foot hot rodders (me included)use up all our cheap parts!
  11. John I'm very interested also. I have a stock 280ZXturbo. I'm sorry I don't know the offset. But I'm sure it would be the same at anyone who has a 280zx or 280zxt. Please let us know price of what you are speaking?
  12. Well if the # match then don't lose any of the original stuff. But you can always turbo another engine for awhile until time you need to market it (if you ever do).
  13. I read that last sentence. "maybe might turbo it tho " If I'm not mistaken those cars are only about 4 or 500 lbs. of an increase in weight of our Z's. So a V8 with a turbo WATCH OUT MOMMA! Hey if you can turbo that P/U of yours this will be a work of art! I've got a confession to make; sometimes late at night. I wonder if my Lt-1 belongs in a 240 or maybe a Nova/1st gen Camero. I'm sorry must a been a brain fart! I keep on thinking of work invested as compaired to resale? If or when the desire fades! Dammit! sometimes I hate the fact my parents taught me common sense! I'll get over it!
  14. On my NPR (14" high by 29 wide) I had a long pipe one side which I cut back to within 4" of I/C. I didn't need to do any welding. I did have to do cutting on radiator mount on either side to allow the pipes to go thru. There would be no way a person could use existing holes in radiator mount to fit pipes thru. It was tougher but I did route the pipe that ran from the turbo to I/C across to the Passenger side then ran I/C to TB on the driver's side so cooled air from I/C wouldn't get hot traveling across radiator. My 2 centavos
  15. If you are 48 years old and above I'd suggest the 2 5/8" gauges. If you are younger you can still see well enough to read the 2 1/16". Also the more gauges the better. Who needs to watch the road when you have awsome gauges to look at . Seriously if you are turbo you need an A/F gauge. I also like my oil temp. gauge so I know if I'm running to hot in the summer to coke my turbo by shutting down the engine to soon. In Oklahoma I would never remove any air conditioning I gotta be COOL when I drive my Z!
  16. Well as you move on to a Mopar board somewhere. Remember us friendly Z folk over here. Check in once in awhile. For old times sake! Hmmm! L28 Turbo Cuda!! YAH BABY!
  17. Oh man, Oh man bring back my childhood. I remember cruising mainstreet seeing a Hemi Coda (a later year think around 68/69). Those bodies are light. Your gonna have a blast with that. Now parts are going to be more expensive dealing with a mopar but hey that car will be worth it! Congrats. "13 hours away" where will that be?
  18. I installed a 4 wire. It really didn't improve my fuel mix at startup. All the 3 and 4 wire has different from single is a heater that heats up the 02 sensor faster to get readings sooner. (grey-signal, black- ground, two whites-ground & keyed positive). Personally I have gotten better readings from my A/F gauge. Probably because you have a better ground which you are tying in your 02 sensor. I would think what you are talking about could also involve your temp. sensor.
  19. Hey Doug If you got the time and gozongas then go for it! I'll have that bottle of Pinot noir waiting when you get it done . Len

    Downpipe???

Yea Cody; I've been reading about your pain and suffering (your leakey headgasket ). If I had anything to add I would. Just hang in there. I'm sure you torked the Headbolts in the correct order, to the right ft. lbs. Then awhile later after running engine you retorked them. That's all I could think of. Wish you luck. Times like this a person really loves working on Z's
  21. Alex Thanks for the input. I was just thinking (which gets me in trouble sometimes) . I realize injectors are rated at 2 bar (43lbs) just didn't know if the Mustangs had a different lower operational fuel pressure. With this AFPR I am thinking maybe lowering fuel press. just a tad. Trying to find a medium between lowest output without being so low to dribble injectors (not allow proper atomization). This comes from my old Carborator way of thinking. Carborators are not as exact, they dribbled at times, but they ran alright. Anyway I don't want to lower fuel press. so low as to not get full benefit of the 370cc. output (or max output at WOT). Oh yea; I thought about a RRFPR (4 to 1)with my old 260cc stock injectors's but then I didn't think they would equal what the 370's would put out at WOT! You know the need! MORE POWER! Nathan I love the way she runs now. She is rich, but not that bad. Starts, idles, runs fine. I just know she is rich and that in itself bothers me . As we have discussed over the years I'm hoping to maybe lower press. (as you say 36 or maybe 32 or 34psi.) to possibly find a better medium (along with adjusting AFM) than what I currently have. I agree PITA but at times we all have that playing with our Z's . Anyway I've read alot of talk on the subject (I could be wrong. If so; somebody chime in)but I haven't read one thread of someone actually dialing in the most Max performance (while not losing all around performance (right mix at normal operations)while still using stock computer. Its a dice toss I'm gambling $114 (FPR) that something benefical will come out of this. Its really not a gamble. I will need this FPR if I decided that I really, really needed (and could afford $850) a SDS at a later date. I know you and Tony went one step further with a 300zxt computer setup. Which sounds like a great cheap way to allow more adjustability. I afraid I'm not that electronicly gifted along with the fact its hard to find at the salvage yards around here.
  22. Hey Storm I don't know what 350 HP feels like. Never had mine on a dyno. So can't say. I do know with the mods you mentioned my car runs dam fast! Really gives Mustangs fits. Suprises everyone who ever rode in it . I have a stock turbo. I also went with 370cc. injectors. What Cody and randy are talking about is controling that large of injectors (440cc. that's pretty large). Sure you can run then in your car. But you will be running pig rich all the time except at WOT. I'm doing that with my 370's. You want to have the best of both worlds. Thats what a 1983 computer really can't do. You can squeeze out more HP with a well tuned engine as compared to just throwing gas in her. Along with smelling alot nicer . I personally feel without a modern engine controlled (like SDS). I'm pushing my max with 370cc.'s. I'm hoping to lower my fuel pressure a bit at normal operations with a Adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Along with keeping the ability to shove bunches of fuel in engine at WOT . Without a stand alone engine controller (as compared to a 20 year old computer). Anything larger than 370cc.injectors I don't think you can dial in for an all around preformance upgrade for your car; and be happy with it . But hey; you can put in those 440's with all those mods and you would be good to go if all you want to do is go 1/4 mile. But getting there you'll be a stinky mess!

    280 z spec

Of course that "2700 lbs. including driver" is that after Thanksgiving? Possibly after Christmas that figure of "2700 lbs." could increase! Causing Higher ET's. Maybe we should put in a reccomendation in site development for a catagory Called "Lower 1/4 mile ET's thru the HybridZ weight loss program!
  24. I'm familiar with 280zxt fuel press with vac. disconnected at idle runs around 38psi. Does anyone know what fuel pressure the 370cc. svo injectors would normaly run? I'm guessing about the same. They just need to put out more fuel to run those 2.3 liter 4 bangers. Am I right?
