  1. I have a 1990 infiniti m30 with new brakes, struts, bearing ect. in the suspension, I am in the process of going through the suspension of my 79 datsun, I was wondering if anyone knew if I could use the parts off of the infiniti on my datsun, I read on f131club that the 280zx stuts make the m30 sit higher, i was thinking the infiniti parts would lower my dastun, but im not sure about the fronts, and the brakes, they are much bigger on the infiniti, and i would love to change them over, I have a set of 16 inch wheels and will be ordering spacers very soon, I have both cars now, will be tearing down the infiniti soon in prep of sbc swap, already test fit engine, looking for a solid axle to put in rear, and suspension parts for the infiniti, everything is being gutted out of the ininiti, so I have all those parts at my disposal
  2. been a while, thought i would bounce this up one more time, the engine bay of the m30 is closer to a 240sx engine bay?? would i be looking in the wrong place then, should i look on a 240sx site?? i know that a lot of 280zx parts and 300z parts fit the m30 in one way or another, a little more info would be appreciated.
  3. i have read up on f31.com, most of the people there are into boosting the six and suspension stuff. i want a v8, when i brought it up there they immediatly wanted a nissan v8, i dont want to deal with the wiring nightmare of that. a sbc with a carb would be a very nice starting point, what i want is to know if the engine bay is close enough to a 300z to do the swap. i ahve read up on a few of the 300's with the sbc swap and thats the way i want to go. could someone who has seen the engine bay of both chime in?
  4. i have recently aquired a 1990 infiniti m30. it has the same engine as the older 300z, vg30e i think, it smokes and the tranny is junk, i was wondering if anyone had any info on this car. im very interested in swapping in a 350 because i had never seen one of these cars before i got this one. from what little info ive collected this car has a very similar layout to the 300z. could someone offer some info or point me in the right direction, ive looked at a few m30 boards and havent found anything, from what i gather this has never been done i would love to be the first.
  5. Why would you put a Caddy 500 in a datsun? I dont really see how the car could handle all that torque. i have a full size chevy with that motor and when you rag on the truck, the whole frame twists, not a lot wut it does. i ant see how a 2800 pound car could handle that engine, and the car could never hook up with 500 pounds of torque, you would just end up spinning the wheels. im not trying to critize, i just think that for the cost to reinforce the car, to get the engine and tranny to fit, to build the rear end up (solid axle??) and to buy the engine and tranny you would be over the cost of a 350, lt1, maybe ls1, and you would have more useable power with the smaller v8, and less broken parts, the 500 eats full size 3/4 ton truck parts.
  6. i spent a lot of time looking around at nissan/infinity transmissions to replace the slush box in my 90 m30 nissan is a parts bin company, the transmissions in some of the trucks, up till i think 97 were the same as the 300z tt if you look around you would be more likely to find the truck tranny cheaper, im not sure about gear ratio's. on another note, the engine in the m30 is the same that they used in early 300z , do you think a sbc would fit in that??
