That still probably outperforms a log style manifold

Heat on, but not always getting heat

You guys are thinking too hard about this. Id put money on low coolant. -
I bought my 240z with the wrong window :(

I found some pictures of other regulators and mine seems to be bent a bit. Im just gonna bend it back to see if it fixes the angle. Just gotta wait till we get a little change in this weather...The garage is fricken cold right now. -
But then they wouldnt be able to charge $20k to replace it

Heres some pictures I took today showing my fitment problems 1) First picture shows how the window looks with all rollers attached. A little off ehh? 2) This picture shows how the car was, and what I assume was done so they could seal the window. You cant see, but the window is all the way up. You can see the arm with the rear window roller is about 2 inches above its track. 3) Full window shot 4) The measurment from end to end on the rails, Im seeing 16 9/16" which is closest to the 16 5/8" shown on the Zparts pictures indicated it is a 70-75 window. -

Ill take some pictured of it tonight and get them posted up. Talking to a local guy he said you can tell which door you have by the door beam in it, but not having seen the inside of any other 240z doors I dont have much perspective on whats big and whats small. The window is a perfect fit in the door, and sealed up without any leaks. It just seems to be the angle of the roller tracks that are different. -
Baby jesus cries when you mix beer with tequila... Well, at least your wasting crappy tequila with crappy beer.

You're right, that definitely doesn't sound like the easiest way I know its a long shot, but it would be great if some people had pictures of the window -
My driver window never went all the way down and seemed to have a lot of play on the back side. I pulled the window and regulator out and checked everything. The only problem obvious was that the rear window track was off. I put it back together, this time with all 3 tracks connected, and the alignment was way off. It now tilted forward about 20*. After scratching my head for a while it dawned on me that the window may have been intentionally left off the track to get it to go all the way up. Ive found through some searches that their was a different window for 240, 260 and 280 z's, but also read something about possibly having a door from a different model car as well. Is their any way tell which window I need. In one thread zcar had mentioned cataloging the differences but nothing shows up.

Yeah, I meant using the Gran Gala instead of the Cointreau and Grand Marnier. Its only ~$20 for a 1/5th and came as a recommendation from a liquor store owner here. When we first started drinking margaritas we tried a couple tequilas that were in the ~$20 range like Sauza, but the small jump to the 1800 made a massive difference in flavor and smoothness (is that a word?) I have had a couple better margaritas, but they were made by a friend who bar tends at a Mexican style restaurant. It was their version of a cadillac margarita with their house margarita mix and Herradurra tequila made extra stiff. Its kind of making me drool a bit right now

Combine the Cointreau and Grand Marnier into just 1shot of Gran Gala and I absolutely cant tell the difference. Also, for margarita's Id rather use 1800 Silver cause it costs half as much and is just as smooth and flavorful. I think patron is over-hyped and over-priced; while its good its not really much better than the 1800..well at least in the silver. For sweet and sour mix, the best ive found is Bone Daddy's top shelf margarita mix. I found it at safeway and its unfiltered appearance drew me in.

When I was looking up the head code (which id have to look at again cause I forgot), but the code was for a 75 so thats what i've been assuming the rest of the swap came from.

Thats good info , thanks.

Thats what I was afraid of. I guess Ill just drop the tranny one weekend and when I find out what it is see if I can get it locally quickly. Any tips on what will give it away obviously other than just measuring the disk itself?
-
I have a 73 240z with a 2.8l and 5speed from a 75. The clutch in it is slipping and with my other project I can afford to buy a better clutch. What disc should I be looking for? The auto parts store was saying something about a 75 2+2 and a ZX, each one having a different clutch diameters. Being a 240z newb, Im not sure which to get. I want to be able to just get a disc to swap in (just a quick $50 fix) until after I finish my SM DSM, then I can figure out what I want to do with the car.

Updated pics.. cleaned her up, installed a new air dam, new tires

You really should get some kind of front bumper in there. Even if Its just a bolt in round stock, if you get in a wreck youll be happy you had it. Other than that, looks pretty sweet -Dallas J -
Its easier to build higher power on pump gas with a lower compression ratio, higher boost, on a bigger turbo. But upping the CR does have advantages like off boost power. Makes daily driving it much better. -Dallas J

Boost pressure is actually just a measure of resistance to flow. Ask someone with a mustang what happens to the Supercharger boost levels when they change to an aluminum head. Hint, it drops because their's less resistance. So really when youre talking about boost on one engine, its doesnt nessessarily mean the same amount of airflow as on another engine. In the dsm world we dont really talk about boost pressure, we use airflow in either lbs/min or grams/rev. This gives us a more accurate estimation of what the engine/turbo combination are doing. So why did I go through that? Well say an engine is at 20psi and running 36 lbs/min of air. That was good enough for my car to run 12.7. Then you add cams to make the car more efficient at a higher rpm, and the airflow rises to 40lb/min. Now I can run in the 12.4 range. The turbo is able to push more air into the engine, but it still runs at the same boost. What did that do to may intake temp? Well it depends on what the compressor map says. Youll get a shift to the right on the map because the airflow increases, but where was I before. If I was to the left of the peak efficiency island then my temp will go down, if I was already at the peak effiency then I might move out of that range, and heat will increase. If you just increase the boost, then you increase the heat regardless. But the rate at which the heat increases depends on where you at on the island. If youre running an L28et at 15psi I would guess you have around 30lbs/min. Look where that is on the map that thehelix112 posted. 30lb/min is way out there in a very low effiency place, so when you up the boost heat is increast alot. Higher temps actually decrease your airflow, so increase in pressure is negated by the increase in heat, and now you are at the same airflow, higher boost, but more prone to knock. A larger turbo may not even be at its peak island, so when you turn up the boost and it hits the peak island then your airflow will increase also. That is what you want. Ok, Im done babbling. I hope I didnt confuse you more. -Dallas J

That last example is kinda wrong. If the vette passed the line at 200mph and stayed there it would take 4.5 seconds to travel the 1/4mile, which is a good run for a top fuel car. So, it would not blow past it untill it hit the light assuming that the driver of the top fuel car had a perfect light. If he had a decent light of .550, the vette would be 15ft ahead at the end. Anyways, its still pretty cool. -Dallas J

Be easy with launching it, 90-early 92 had a 3 bolt rear end which is known for being weak. Anyways, nice find. I gots much love for the DSMs -Dallas J

Man, I love the color combo of your car. Very hot. -Dallas J

A new theory in my DSM circle is that the aluminum flywheels seem to dissipate heat faster than the stock steel one, giving us some longer life using a clutch not known for its life span. Anyways, I really like my Fidanza flywheel. -Dallas J

Maybe I heard wrong then. I just thought I remember reading on one of the subaru forums that the 03-05 STi wasnt functional. -Dallas J

The reason they dont quite feel like they handle great is because from the factory they have quite a bit of body roll. So they feel like they may be too soft, but the numbers dont lie. As for AWD, does 1.6-1.7 60 foots on street tires seem fun? I sure feels bad *** in my 95 Talon.. Both cars are extremely capable in auto-x and road racing, but the Iron block of the Evo will take much more abuse than the aluminum block in the STi. Hehe, one more note. The ricy wing on the evo is functional while the ricy wing on the STi is just dead weight. -Dallas J
