well im assuming from the tech details that it can push 1274cfm, and i assume that is at it's max speed of 16k rpm, which i wouldn't' go near. So if i were to say spin it at 1.3 crank speed, it would only spin the blower to 9100. I dont know, im just throwing numbers around

Hey guys, just a few questions and a little bit of self reasoning here. Okay, I've decided I want to supercharge my engine To be different(and I like the idea of a low rpm power band). Now, I had originally purchased a M90 to undertake this with, but I've since started looking at twin screw superchargers instead. I've considered getting a whipple charger but from what i've seen they only sell as small as a 2.4L supercharger. If i were to use such a large supercharger on a 2.8, Could I underdrive it to Get a desired power output and not adversly effect power delivery? Would doing this turn the car into a "pig" to drive around as the charger is saping a larger amount of power for a certain boost level? Would doing this have a similar effect as a very large turbo used in the same instance? Any help would be cool, Thanks! Aaron

yeah, i wish I'd known back when i bought the car. Right now I've spent a LOT of money getting a L28 built to a spec capable of the power im chasing. Maybe I'll consider the change when i get bored of the L28 and want something with a higher margin for power improvement. In saying that, if you can PM me the detail I'll pass it on to my Z mechanic and he can properly inform his other customers about this revelation. Aaron

How are you getting this engineered? This swap is deemed illegal under the new DOTARs rules for displacement/weight. If it wasn't I would have begun this swap 2 years ago, as that was what i intended to do to mine until I read the rules that came in around the time i brought my 240z. So otherwise, im eager to find out if you get this licensed, as it would help other get one shoe horned in if someone else has been allowed under the new rules Aaron

i'll put my hand up for a pair of these also

when it was rebuilt all synchros and bearings were replaced. I wasn't really pushing it that hard, was probably about a 2800rpm down shift...while under brakes *sigh* thanks for the help. It only moves a great amount in every gear except the straight up and down gears, so the gears on the left and right of the shift pattern.... in those gears they are lucky to move an inch

Hi guys, I was driving to work today and when coming up to a corner I down shifted into Second and BANG, it pops out of gear. I was wondering what i could have broken inside the gearbox to cause this as it now does it any time I try to use second while slowing. When applying power it does not pop out of gear. It's a wide ratio gearbox. Also, Is it normal to have about 3 inches of possible movement of the gear stick while in 1st, 2nd, 5th and reverse? Gearbox was rebuilt about 10000 KM ago and im running a turbo'd l24(not a lot of power but nice) Thanks Aaron

Is that for forged pistons?! Frank, if you end up getting these pistons could you let me know your specs and cost? I was having trouble finding any custom pistons for under AU$1000 down here. I'd much rather a piston to suit my engine. And I'll probably buy these rods as well and see how nit all goes. I already have a BHJ damper on order and had intentions of getting everything balanced while it's out of the engine also.
-
Hey guys, I was wondering if these rods fit in the too good too be true basket or are they worth taking the gamble for? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-L24-L26-L28-MAXIMA-260Z-280ZX-5-139-H-BEAM-ROD_W0QQitemZ360014976605QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360014976605

I've got these on my car running a r200. They seem good but i havent really leaned on them yet but we'll see in the furture with my new engine, I had the money at the time so I thought i'd splurge. Bought 3 sets with a couple of other guys nearby and i think the price came down US$100 a kit. Nice kit and simple to install.

a heavy pedal doesn't bother me after the car i last owned, what i'd like to know is how it grabs, is it all on or can it be slipped a little so it's a little more easier during traffic and those sort of situations. In the end i dont think it'd matter much but it would be nice to find a clutch that isn't all on as soon as it grabs.
-
how's it grab compaired to a normal clutch, a lot more harsh?
-
Hey Roostmonkey, Could i please get that quote for 2 to Australia 6061?

No More Clutch Type LSDs!!!!!! (Nismo, Power Brute, etc)
Vindicare replied to Savage42's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah I have a KAAZ unit in my car currently and I'm not sure what's causing the noise or whether its just looseness in the drive train somewhere, but it make all sorts of god aweful noises when the LSD is trying to lock up lightly. Alternately, the sound goes away if you drive it hard enough (inside wheel can be heard slipping). I'm in the process of having a CV conversion as i did know that i had some dodgey uni joints.... and a sheered axle retainer? at the wheel side, and have yet to drive it since converting to the larger 260z axles? Anyway, all stuff my mechanic has told me, but eventually i intend on also changing to a RT diff mount to see if that has any effect. Hopefully that will be the end of my saga with this unit, but i may have to change to something else(mechanical locker). -
Intercooler Piping Routing Under the Car- Pic
Vindicare replied to ktm's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Do you think there might be room for 3" piping? Doesn't look like it from the pictures. -
Sure! here it is. He never got it dyno'd from what i can see(i also asked a while ago) He guesstimated it to be around the 300hp level unintercooled. running 12 psi i think over running the charger some. m62 i think it was http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117342

Thanks mate, I searched and found a thread i remember reading and saved the pictures from ages ago, but i didn't really understand till just then haha. There's a thread where kjones put up pictures of the method he is using to run his supercharger setup, i went out and then had a look at the f54/p90 engine i have waiting to be lavished, but it does not run the same balencer that ken has, but then i looked at my l24, and it runs the same one ken does and all i need to find is a pulley, which i may just go get made up by someone...... but anyway, i might just buy a new dampner and hope i can find a way to attatch a pulley.
-
Hey Kevin, If you could find out for me that would be great. To be honest the v-belt is not up to the task, this other guy said it was slipping often unless it was really tight. but if you want to try that's fine. That's a very nice intake you guys have designed, will having the fuel rail inside not cause some bad turbulence?

The toyota unit is no where near as efficient as the eaton unit. Im pretty sure the toyota one actually has plastic rotors which limit's its longativity and it has the clutch arrangement because it is not meant to be run for long periods due to heat. There is a guy in AUS that used one on a RB30 and while spinning it at 70% of its max rpm(made 131rwkw) it produced a max of 5 psi(He is now twincharged with a m90 and a gt40? turbo, u've all probly seen his movies on youtube ). One of my friends is just about to put one on a draw through setup on a 179ci engine but am unsure as to the speed he's going to run it at. It's quite a popular budget blower, but only because it is reasonably cheap. However, over in the US i see no reason to not use the M90 as they are so cheap over there, i managed to get a M90 shipped to Australia for $300AU(the toyota units usually go for about that much over here), although they are not always that cheap, there is not a significant difference in the average selling price. I pose a question to everyone, how would i go about getting a pulley to drive this type of supercharger attatched to a crank pulley? It's something i've never really thought about or asked about before. I've been planning to go supercharged for a year now, but have onyl just recently(better paying job) decided to go quite serious about it with heavy porting and all the expensive stuff that goes along with the chase for power. thanks Aaron

Hey roost, Can i get a price on shipping for 2 to Perth in Australia post code 6061... you arnt answering your pms, i've sent a few. Thanks Aaron

Twin Charging: Supercharger Boost Q? - attn Frank280ZX
Vindicare replied to boardkid280z's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
sorry to point this out, but you are going to need a massive turbo to undertake this, im not sure if you've seen this thread from a australian car club, but a guy who's twincharged a rb25 is running a GT40 with 0.82 turbine wheel or something like that. Im not sure a t3/t4 hybrid could push the amount of air required for the supercharger to compress, making the turbo a bottle neck in the system. However i could be wrong and it is best to read the following link, this guy has completed this on a very reasonable budget and did all the work for it in his garage, except the tuning which was done by a local workshop. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=79101 http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=90589 Excuse some of the bable in the threads, most aussie sites arn't quite as informative as hybridz.org, and the particular car the site is dedicated to has a cult following of absolute dropkicks, there are very few who actually know and understand what they are talking about, and im not always far from that description. Afterall i did own one before the zed I hope this help atleast a little. Oh, and if you notice he has taken away the need for 2 intercoolers and run the turbo's outlet straight back into the superchargers inlet then it continues to the intercooler. If you search user's on that forum, warpspeed is another person who has previously taken on a twin charging project on a car where space is at a premium. They are both quite knowledgable, and are very friendly, and if they cant enplain it, they'll know where you can get the information you require. And hows that video from his test run on youtube sounds awesome. -
thanks for the feedback guys, its nice to get some clarification. for some reason my ip is banned from that web site. bit wierd considering i have never been there. the kit is good value, in australia there is not many options to find stock cv's off other zed's. one motorsport shop is charging about 1400 aud for recond cv's, whereas this kit could be had for ~1100 aud new.

hi guys, just looking for some knowledgable info on this conversionkit on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200090560956&rd=1

Sorry, can i ask a question, why do you have a radiator cap on top of your thermoststat MONZTER?
-
My god, finally something i can add that noone else has. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=79101 http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?p=1173164#post1173164 Oh and apparently if you go through the process's, that picture of that motor, apparently it would not be able to work. But think for a while and you'll figure out why.
