  1. 6 months, 2 moves and a garage (was working outside) later and I'm at it again! LOL does anyone know where I can find a downloadable service manul for a 95 mustang GT so I can figure out the wiring and vacuum lines?? thanks so much!!

  3. dear lord! i thought mid 80's nissans had horrible electrical problems! i keep hearing the same thing from everyone i talk to about this. oh well, not my problem anymore. i sure would of loved to have whooped the crap out of that thing for a good hour or three just out of spite for all the hard times it gave me! lol thanks for the help guys
  4. so the bad ecu was just the tip of the iceberg of all the stupid little things that were wrong with it..I sold it to the first sucker, errr...person that brought me cash. one less project out back to deal with now I guess.
  5. sorry i havent posted anything lately, been really under the weather the last couple weeks anyways, the firewall is getting cut out and the motor, steering, seats, pedals and really everything pushed back quite a bit. im not to satisfied with where its sitting. sorry, no pics right now, ill try and get some and get em off the camera...i seem to be short of time lately with this project and getting ready for a move
  6. yea, well fair enough...but much past that you might as well just dump some coin on a turbo. i mean, if you're gona go to that extent. sadly eaton nor does anyone else offer a larger S/C or air/water intercooler kit. oh well, maybe one day.

  8. no worries dude no, the vg30 WAS in my s12. it was a brand new motor from the factory approx 80k ago...spun a stupid bearing so i took it out and stripped it down. but the dipstick is on the passenger side. looking at the blocks, there's a whole on both sides for a dipstick, just ones plugged for whatever side its on. perhaps the W blocks all just used the high volume oil pump?! i dunno. from what ive been told this motor was supposed to be identical to the Z31 minus a few things to fit it in the engine bay, ie, manifolds. the accessories are all the same. why the crank is longer is beyond me..its got some fat a$$ washer on it tho to make up the difference. trip out huh? perhaps they moved the dipstick to hte other side due to a cramped engine bay..but i could of swore the NA Z31's i saw at the wreckers the other day had it on the passenger side *shrug* now, i have a W series made prior to 4/87 so its got the A/B series water channels..oh well sweet, ill have a look at that fiche later tonight.
  9. LOL!! you speaketh the truth my man..most S12 owners seem to be pretty young or mechincally UN-inclined from what ive noticed *shrug* actually, theres a guy somewhere back east selling a vg30et powered one atm
  10. well, the vg30et is stock factory motor out of my Z31 dude. i never said the same year motors..i made mention earlier of stuff changing, perhaps i was to vague as i meant thru the years. again tho, i have a W block and whatever the hell you'd call the one prior. ill take pics and post em if you like. also, the oil pumps on the two are identical..both motors are factory stock motors that came with the from the factory. also, are you saying the info in that link i posted is incorrect? or are you just referring to the same year motors? where's the link to this fiche at? that sure could come in handy..
  11. here's my V8 swap thread into my s12. i was looking at the UPS tracking thing last night and it looks like my coilovers will be in today. ill post pics of the install on that thread. also, im not to sure on the Z31's but i know that alot of s12 buts swap out to the s13 coilover setup. i believe it involves swapping the strut/coilover assy, hubs and tie rod ends.. ive never done it tho so i have no idea.
  12. dude...ive owned plenty of VG's, worked on them, done enough rebuilds, driven them hard and am fully aware of what they're capable of. i still have my Z and after im done with this im puting teh vg30er into it. read up on the S12 and how near impossible it is to put a vg30et in it unless you want to remote mount the turbo or push teh motor WAAAY forward...its JUST as easy to put in a V8 at that point. and this is not a hard swap to be honest..actually a relatively fun and easy one. and i can say that old skool pushrod V8's are a lot easier to work on then a single cam VG. hell, i can strip one down and put it back together faster then i can just strip down a VG..at any rate, im very aware of the potential of a VG..after im done with this project im putting my work back into the Z i agree tho, if you already have a vg30et...stick with it! its a great motor and relatively hard to kill, just way tight to work on in some places if your as tall as i am and have big hands lol
  13. here's some more pics. as u can see, the oil sump isnt finished. i wanted to wait till i got it in the whole just incase it was hitting the sway bar and i had to cut it back. in the pics i took with it hitting the sway bar, the motor actually sits back about an inch from there so its gonna be ok to weld up now another problem i ran into today was how to route the exhaust on the drivers side. as u can see, teh manifold is going to run RIGHT into the steering linkage. i have two options here, run a 71-79 cast manifold or move the steering linkage and toss in the header i jsut bought..guess which one im shooting for so im hoping to have the mounts installed sometime before the weekend and ill get pics up when that happens. also, id like to note how snug and nearly perfectly the T5 fits in teh trans tunnel..also how near perfect the location is for the shifter its like it was meant to be! ha ha!! i currently have a hurst shortened shifter installed. it looks like im gonna have to ditch the single big electric fan that came with the donor car and put on twin/narrow electics as with the accessories its gonna be snug. i have some concerns with this block. when i pulled the heads off i noted cooland in the combustion chambers. same as in the oil pan, however the headgaskets arent blown..i REALLY hoped i dont have a cracked/leaky block. im sending it for a pressure/uv test next week. that aside the block is in AWESOME shape! the rollers look to be brand new, there's still cross hash marks from god knows what, etc, etc...only bummer is the main and rod bearing are shot out bad enough to make me have to send the crank in to be turned. no biggie i guess. i had planned on a bottom end rebuild anyways. im still looking around for a new set of heads and cam...havent found what im looking for yet. also, i scored a lead on a detriot locker for 250. please pardon the crappy welds on the oil pan..i was having serious speed and voltage problems with the welder the other night. i had quite a few blow thru's coilovers will be in tomorrow or weds so ill be installing those and some new poly bushings. enjoy motor fitment: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 [/url] the disassembled motor: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 oil pan: 1 2 3
  14. check out these guys for your coilover needs click i had a set on my old 84 turbo s12 and i loved em. i just bought a set for the front and rear of my SE s12 (the one thats in the middle of a sbf install posted in the ford v8 section) oh yea, they do make coilovers for the rear..its a special order so you have to call and ask for them. its not listed on the site. fyi, the s12 (turbo and VG model only) share the same rear end as a z31. i think my front and rear set cost me 430ish shipped included CA sale tax and shipping. they come with eibach springs with the rating of your choice

I've got both a vg30 (w block) and vg30et taken apart and disassembled sitting on the shelf. notable differences are the dip stick location and size (just a plug on the opposing side, movable), cranks (longer snout on the W block), rods (pressed fit vs. full floating), pistons (same as before as well as a cup for lower compression on the turbo) and plenums (the manifolds are the same however). from what I understand there are a couple different cams in the vg30e(t) however these two mic'ed out the same. physically they are of the exact same dimensions though. I've been told twice now the oil pumps are of different volumes however I have taken both apart, ran em thru the solvent tank, inspected them and found no differences. I gave the vg30et exhaust mani's to a friend and never compared the two so I'll assume you're right
  16. ah, ok. well, i dont have a set of headers at all so thats not a big deal. i had planned on sorting out the exhuast when the motor was mounted in teh whole...speaking of which, my buddy just showed up. time to do another trial fittings with the modified oil pan, YAY! lol
  17. nah, it came off a 95 GT. the guy said it was a saleen (had everything there except the correct motor, i guess i should change my sig) but he was full of B.S... i actually got bored at work today and wacked my oil pan apart and put my sump up front. ill put it on tomorrow when i wake up and give it another go in the car. hopefully i wont have to modify the bloody thing AGAIN! LOL so whats this i hear about the explorer heads being a good bang for your buck head upgrade? also, does anyone have a pic of a explorer pickup? i sure would have to make a pickup too!!
  18. as in I need the sump to be as far forward as possible. the pan that's on there has I guess u could say 2 sumps...not really, but theres two 'bumps' as u put it with separate drain plugs and the pickup is in the rear. I need my sump and pickup in the front to clear the steering rack and subframe. actually, I think I found a few online thatll work..worse comes to worse ill make one or something but I'm quite lazy and would muuch rather buy one instead! lol
  19. no lsd just yet. my primary concern is to first get the motor in and running. I'm considering doing an s13 rear end swap just to have a better selection of aftermarket parts as parts for these things are scarce...that and trailing arm + negative camber + torque = clouds of smoke! lol one step at a time. I'm going to a machine shop tomorrow to get a price on having the crank turned and the block/heads inspected for cracks and leaks. ill post pics of the motor when I get home tonight (posting from my PDA lol) again, thanks for the support guys! also, I'd like to add that this guy is real cool and has been a hell of an inspiration for me and this project: http://www.racesilvia.com
  20. dude...i get more luvin here then i get on CS12 and the DSM forums. i think its cuzz, umm, im not surrounded by kids! ha ha seriously tho, most of the import scene are so bent over turbo 4's and just hate 6+ cylinders (especially domestics which is just dumb if u ask em) its rediculous. at any rate..i got the motor out last night and stripped it down to a bare block. i found quite a bit of coolant in the oil pan and well, everywhere. the head gaskets were a-ok which scares me. im gonna have to get my block checked for cracks i guess. also, the bearings were pretty shot out. the crank is going to have to be turned down. other then that it looks great! the cyl walls still had cross hash marks from god knows when, no cupping on the top of the combustion chambers, bolt TQ's all seemed about right, etc.. ill see about posting pics later tonight. does anybody know of a good/cheap place to buy a front sump oil pan and pickup? i also need a reasonable narrow sump, meaning, i cant go to far back from the front of the engine as it will hit the subframe then id have to cut and weweld it. depth is not an issue. thanks in advance
  21. lol, it was a joke. i pulled the motor out tonight and stripped it down to a bare block. im gonna have to send the crank in to get it turned and replace teh main and rod bearings. other then taht it looks good. ill post pics later. it was a long day (not car related) and im quite buggered. tony: yea, ive been a big s12 fan for a while...i think i bought my first one back in 98 or something and i luv em. im a big time Z fan as well, but the s12's are a dime a dozen so i dont feel bad having my way with them and ♥♥♥♥ canning them oh yea, it was an SE, so it had a VG30 thanks for the support guys!
