hmm...anyone want to trade a rear sump for a front sump then? i need a front sump for the S12. its hitting the bloody rack and subframe! grr
-
i thought you guys might get a kick out of this. there's NO V8 luvin on the S12 boards, kids... before stripping the car 1 stripping the car 1 stripping the car 1 the donor 1 the donor 1 trial fitment 1 trial fitment 1 trial fitment 1 trial fitment 1 the donor is a saleen badged 95 ST stang (5.0 with a T5). i picked it up for a smoking 600 bucks! hell, he even tossed in a saleen wing and some other parts! hello ebay! HAHA at anyrate, the motor came out of the stang easily enough. last night was the trial fitment of the 5.slow. it went fairly well minus the oil pan hitting the rack and subframe. im gonna have to get a pan with the sump up front and a different pickup for this to work, no biggie tho.. that aside, it fits in the s12 very well. hell, the bloody motor mounts look like they're going to line up! im not for certian and WONT be till i get a new oil pan. i could mod it myself, but i REALLY cant be bothered oh yea, id like to ad that the placement of turbos for the TT kit they make for the 5.0 WILL fit. it places the turbos where the airbox and battery once sat. ill post more pics later. im gonna go fiddle with it a bit more today and hopefully get some pics that dont suck (it was dark out, shot with my camcorder) the VG30ER will go into my Z31 now i guess.. among other mods to the car, poly bushings (on the rear, still working on teh front), just orderd front/rear coilovers and tokiko illuminas. im still researching what i want to do for braking power. i know i can get brembo rotors for cheap enough and hawk autocross pads for 100/corner but im researching fitment of Z32 calipers and rotors. oh yea, this s12 is an SE so it came equiped with the z31 5lug hubs and brakes..not the wimpy brakes and 4lug hubs of the other models. it also came stock with a stiffer sway bar.. i hear without to much modification you can fit an s14 sway bar in and an s13 rack (need better adjustable tie rods)

dude...you rock! thanks a million! trial fitment of the 5.slow into the S12 is tomorrow..yay!
-
thanks...but i try and avoid chilton and haynes manuals at all cost.. always try and use a proper factory service manual. i need full wiring and vacuum line scematics. well, the wiring is what im REALLY concerned with, the vacuum stuff i can figure out. thanks again!

hi guys, i aquired a 95 5.0 stang this last weekend for next to nothing and need a FSM for my motor swap...mainly just for the wiring aspect. does anyone have any ideas where i could get one? ive always gotten my manuals from http://www.phatg20.net/, but they dont seem to have any domestic stuff to speak of. thanks in advance!!

word. im working on a SBF project right now (among other projects)...yay! vids like this keep my spirits boosted on my project clicky

cool, thx for teh tip. im beginning to notive (dsmtuners). i'd post on dsmtalk but ive been banned for pore grammar, LOL!!! anyways, it looks like the ECU is shot out. i went to check the caps to be sure as all the sensors were checking fine (and i do mean ALL of em) and found that someone had been in there before. it was butchery too...they must of had the soldering iron at 850!! looks like they burnt the board in one spot (under the 47uF cap) and put some makeshift jumper in using the material you'd cut off when u put something onto a board..well, that was loose and hitting stuff. umm, yea. it needs to be replace. but the DSM has just been put on teh back burner as i picked up a 95 saleen mustang this weekend so ill be playing with that for a bit, yay! thanks dude! ill PM ya if i have anymore problems

im not sure if you would want to go this route, but a KA24 should bolt straight up to those motor mounts. im not to sure about the trans though, id guess probably not but thats pretty easy anyway. dont get me wrong, i have much love for the VG but the KA isnt a half bad little motor. it revs up really nice and takes well to bolt ones...but VG TQ for the win!

in my S12 i get around 16-18 in the city and on a good day about 24 on the highway. this is socal tho so people tend to haul ass on the freeway and ive got a bit of a lead foot in the 'ol 200, so that im sure doesnt help either

awesome, thanks mate! im doing a full top to bottom rebuild of the VG in my S12 for cuzz of this blower and have discovered a few things: both my pressed rod/pistons and W rod/piston set i had lying around were no good...dammit! my S12 spun a damn rod bearing a while back and i decided to fully rebuild teh motor while i had it out. anyways, it spun it REALLY bad and i dont feel like using the rods or crank now, granted i could probably get em turned, i figure while im in there i might as well jsut get new ones. anyways, i had some pressed fit from a turbo Z on the shelf but they have some wicked pock marks on em and i really wanted to maintain my 9-1 compression ratio. that leaves me up ♥♥♥♥ creek hehe. anyways, i found a set of new rods on ebay for 120 (w series) and i guess id just need to get some pistons for it. FYI, SE S12 and 85' Z31 cranks are not swapable..the accessorie bit of the crank is a grip shorter ont eh Z31.

what about pistons tho? what can I fit to those dett rods? do you happen to know where I can get some forged pistons at that? thanks in advance
-
yea, i was looknig at a set on ebay and they look similiar..but im not one to make assumptions oh, thats a clean Z u have there btw
-
does anybody know if i can use the pressed fit rods with the floating pistons or will that pin not fit? they look to be the same OD but not to sure without actually pressing them out. also, where abouts can i find a decent price on forged rods and pistons or does anyone have a set for sale? i didnt see any listed in the 'for sale' section or on ebay, nor could i find a place that sells them via google. thanks in advance.

Well, spark seems to be good. If they go out it would just give me little to no spark correct? or would it be firing late? I cant personally say ive ever had one go out on a car i owned.. Sweet, ill give that a go. For whatever reason, the ECU was not hooked up when i recieved the vehicle..it was sitting on the passenger seat. Perhaps I should just get an EBAY cheapy ECU just for good measure adn see what happens. What strikes me as odd is that the longer i try to start it the better it gets...it'll sputter longer if that makes any sence and try harder to fire. After about 20-30 minutes of this it will fire and the longer i keep it running the better it will run. it never really does run RIGHT tho, just thought i should add that in there tho.

Awesome, thx guys! Im getting WAAAY more help here and on club-s12 then on the DSM forums..haha! classic Oh, and on a side note, ive been warned: "Dear premo-s12, You have received an infraction at DSM Forums. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=151099176 Reason: All Other Violations ------- Please use proper capitalization in tech forums. Thank you. ------- This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire. All the best, DSM Forums" I actually got banned from one of the DSM forums for bad punctiation or something lame like that..i know my grammar isnt perfect but i try. i dint think a warning or a ban were in order tho! lol

i wonder if my VG30e equiped s12 should be called a 300sx or my ca18et equiped ones should be a 180sx?!?! lol

hello. thanks for the help/input. ive already checked for vacuum leaks and it was alright. yes, it has that solonoid by the brake booster and under manifold pressure (as the manual says) i have proper vacuum goin to teh FPR, checked that already as far as the MAF goes, thats what i want to know: which pins i use to apply 12v to the unit and which ones are for my output voltage. thanks for the help dude, REALLY appreciated and on the code flashing, it doesnt give me a check engine light if the MAF is unplugged which according to the service manual it should.. im at a loss dude!
-
an 85', are you sure it wasnt a ca20e or ca18et? its called a nap'z motor, but its not the Z block...unless u had some funky swap goin on or something. the cut off for the Z block in the 200's was the s110 in 83

cuzz DSM owners sure as hell DONT!! sorry to post this here but ive posted it on several DSM sites and they're absolute idiots..that aside, here's my frustration. i got a s13 convertible a while back for free, i already have 2 so with that making 3 i put it up in craigslist and had this guy want to trade me a 1992 mitsu eclipse AWD turbo. sure, why now?! ive never had one and it had a freshly rebuilt 4g63...what the hell. what the hell is right! this thing has been a f***cking thorn in my side for to long now and i dont get ANYWHERE except frustrated with these ppl and their HORRIBLY vague shop manual. now, i have a proper mitsu shop manual, not a chiltons but there is more or less no flowcharts on diagnosing problems (unlike awesome nissan shop manuals, yay), no descriptions on how to bench test sensors, etc, etc. i suspect a bad MAF, but it doesnt say how to test the damn thing, just what it does and where its located?! wtf i know where its located and what it does. so the deal went down like this, this guy had it, drove it then thd trans went out on him so he installed a new one. he couldnt figure out how to hook up the transmission linkages for 6 months (LOL!!) and decided to get rid of it. now, he swears it was running great up until the trans went out adn i dont have any reason to doubt him as he seems like a pretty straight fwd guy and i still keep in moderate contact with him to this day...so it is possible he stuffed something in teh removal of the trans (3x cuzz he couldnt figure it out) but who knows. another thing i found odd was a few vacuum lines were taken off: well, not vacuum but intake. the hose to the bypass valve was off and the valve cover breather hose was off. i replaced those and went to fire...nothing but a sputter. crank, crank crank and after a while and a few battery charges i finally got it to fire. i had bad spark (cracked coil on cyls 1&4) so i replaced that coil. i also had bad plug wires as they were missing a few connectors, so i replaced those and the plugs. im still in the same boat as it runs JUST the same. i checked base timing and ignition timing when i managed to get it to hold an idle for more tehn 1 second...good! i checked fuel pressure coming into the rail, good! i checked compression, way more then good! the thing that struck me as odd tho is that the damn thing runs just as good with or without the MAF hooked up but the manual doesnt give me any way to diagnosis it or pinouts to bench test it or a diagram on wire pinouts to teh ECU, etc, etc..im dying here! naturally the DSM guys dont know jack aside from check the fuel pump fues, so i thought id give this place a go. again, any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!! hell, to make things worse, i was talking to my smog guy (he's a good friend) and he cant even plug the damn thing in to his computer and has just as much info on the car as i do. said im just as good off as plugging my voltmetre into the pins and reading the morse code (not joking) that comes out of the ECU when it registers a problem, which its not. oh yea, here's the link to one of the DSM sites i posted on. again, im sorry for posting this non z-related stuff on this forum but u guys are A LOT more helpful then these guys have been
-
ah sweet! thats what was in my s110! damn that thing was WAY fun on the dirt roads back home, it just loved to rev and rev
-
so with all the weight of the VG, where abouts do you rekon you'll be sitting for curb weight?
-
nevermind, i found what i needed. i knew it was somewhere, couldnt find it tho clicky
-
minus the intake, the crank, rods, oil pump, a half dozen sensors, different O2 sensors, the block changing, etc, etc...hell, the damn dip stick is on the other side... i need specifics
-
they're the same right?! i remember reading somewhere a while back that they were identical but dont recal for sure. my primary concern is with the cam(s)

**applause** looking good!
