  1. I'd like to see a pic of both. Unsprung weight is a very very good thing to shed. For a street car... maybe not, but for an auto-X car or a road course car, get them.
  2. Very nice! I did the same thing, but on my 86 turbo Z31. I used a Greddy type-R wastegate. You're right... it is like a chainsaw. Downpipe (sorry about pic quality) Wastegate I used a 1.75 inch hole saw, and cleaned everything up with a die grinder. The dump tube is SS, but the feed tube is mild. The downpipe/exhaust is SS as well. I was lucky enough to have a TIG handy. Your mig welds look great. I can't mig to save my life, but tig is another story . I welded on a V-band flange on the turbo, and had to make a filler piece for where the internal gate flows into the exhaust, so the turbo has SS welded to both cast and mild. 6 months of getting it to 1500F and back to normal temp and no cracks. I love that holset. BTW, the wire loom has not melted, but I wrapped it as well with header wrap. Good to see some fabricated parts look so clean. Very nice setup.
  3. I would have been arrested for trying to run away with that Twin Turbo 8. Imagine someone running as fast as they can with that, then trying to drop it in their car to get away faster-ME! That RB engine was freakin sweet too... dry sump, big bore, ITBs, and braided stainless everywhere. I want one.
  4. Should be sweet when finished. IT already looks good. Fill in the opening for the stock muffler/tip, and smoothe everything out. Bada bing.
  5. MSA sells the MAF for $200, but they can be easily found for around $50 on Z31.com. An 88 NA or T ECU goes for ~$100 on Z31.com as well.
  6. I use sch 40 when making exhaust manifolds for that reason... it's a little less likely to warp due to heat. What amperage do you run your machine? I never run higher than 65 with sch 40.
