  1. Got a box of gauges with my parts car. They look good, but do they work? We know the clock dosen't. What voltage do I need on which gauge to see if they are any good? Thanks Dale
  2. Thanks Spotfitz, where do I get this titanium metallic? Is it a spray can, or from a paint shop?
  3. I thought I'd better up date this in case someone else found this with a search. Yes I've got big arms and the metal door frame was cutting me wrist. Lucky thou the three slices were below the big vein. Blood just trickled out instead of squirting. Thats when I did a search on this site. Next day I found the right way. Reach in the door keeping your arm parallel with the ground. Once your arm is inserted to the lock end of the door, swing it up and there's the nut. Don't worry about the cuts on your arm, the grease on the window reg is at that level and the scabs slide right by. After reaching the nut, a few four letter words are in order. Remove arm in the reverse way go to the work bench and get the right wrench. repete the above and your mirror is off. No need for the BFH. Hope this helps someone.
  4. EVAN, one set was painted while still on the car. Where the peices overlapped the color is more of a gray or dark silver, not the BBQ black that's on them now. It's dark, but not quite black.
  5. I've got a couple of the rear tail light panels that I was going to paint and sell. They all have been repainted a flat black that isn't very nice looking. Was wondering what the paint code or color they should be painted. Have a car that I'm putting epoxy primer on, so i thought I'd strip them prime them at the same time. Thanks.
  6. Hey thanks guys, It will be nice to get it cleaned out before I weld. Just taking off the drip rail from the door opening back. (At this time. things might change.)
  7. Just about ready to close the quarter window in for my GTO. My vella rossa rear tub dosen't cover that area like the other kits do. So I've got to remove the rain gutter and weld in the window. Using a 1"x1" post at the door edge. Just wondering where the lead seam is on the roof. Sure I'm going to find it when I grind it down to weld, but just wanted to know before hand. Thanks.
  8. Hey XCE, that is a close copy of the Ferrari 250 GTO Here is three sites to check into about them. I'm building one right now. http://www.reactionresearch.com/velorossa.html http://www.thunderranch.com/gto1.htm http://www.zcarkits.com/ Hope I did that right. Lone, you've got a sick mind......I like that.
  9. I use a mild buffing compound. It cleans my plastic gage lens on my burning outfit that I forget to cover. Use it on windsheilds, and even my glasses. Just make sure it's a mild compound. Some of the chemicals above in the other posts will melt the lens.
  10. after all I've done and I can't get the stock mirror off. Read posts that say raise the window, that blocks the opening in the door. Can't reach from below. The BFH on my work bench looks like the next thing to try. Please help.
  11. Looks like MSA IMSA flares and MSA front end plus a lot of craftmanship. Looks good.
  12. Don't remember how I came across this but It's in my own backyard. If he's not a member he should be. LOOK.http://www.beaversprings.com/profile/dgrubb.html
  13. Thanks Speedracer for that site. And if John Washington is out there, let me know and I'll help on the gtorr site any way I can. Got the scanner, got the time, let me know. Thanks to all the guys that e-mailed me. Thats where the GTORR would come in handy.
  14. 240zinPHZ Please get pics. and steal the v-12(lol). I saw them race at the Glen in 63 I think.(shows my age)
  15. The metamorphous has begun!!!! What I need now is the help of anyone who will let me pick their brains. Like to get people I can e-mail so not to take up the forum space on such a limited subject. Be nice to fined out the different ways problems were solved. Got my front end on tonite, but have a gap at the base of the windsheild. (Don't have my Stable Manual yet). Tomarrow will be the rear. have to cut it. It's a Vella Rossa. Anyone wants to help E-mail me and send Pics. Thanks.
  16. Thanks Speed, but it would take a hump the size of the Rockie Mount. Base of the front carb is about level with the hood. Plus stacks or air cleaners.
  17. Thanks guys,Did a search and reality dealt me a slap to the face Speedracer talked about air cleaner probs on his GTO. All my planning and designning I forgot the carb clearance. Not even close. My front carbs would be clear out of the hood. Main idea of the GTO was for the nice lines of the body, and I won't mess that up.(FOR SALE one Jag V-12 with tranny, ECU and extra starter $800.00)
  18. Would a six inch incease to the frame between the firewall and the front crossmember be worth the trouble? With the Jag V-12 the axle center line is about 22 inches from back of engine. Move it to 28 inches you have 3/4 of the engine behind the CL. When I build my frame it will not be a big deal to add the extra inches. Cut the interfenders about 2 1/2" infront of the firewall and add my 6 inches and reinforcements. I've done that on 4000hp locomotives, I'd more than likely over kill on that. It's the GTO 250 body that makes me nervous. Compound curves and all. Add another vent while I'm at it. Back to the main subject. would the weight shift be worth the work? It's about 680lbs 34 inches long.
  19. Hey Rickey, got pics? I've got 4 or 5 pont setting a round and an empty spot between the frame rails of my roadster. Have many problems? It should run like a bear. Tin Indians forever. Jens, to much money to change cranks, to big of main dia, Only one out of 500 people could tell the differance between the pont 350,400,428, and the 455. The 400 in a street car like a Z will make more than enough torque to spin any tires.
  20. The fifth number in your VIN on the dash will be a K if it's an Olds, and fitting it will be a Z if it's Pont.( that's for 1977)
  21. Make sure it's a Pont. GM started putting Olds engines in the TA at that time most auto trans had Olds and the sticks had Pont.
  22. Make sure it's Pont 400, that's about the time they started putting Olds 403 in the T/A
  23. Thanks Blue, How bout the TC brackets? Can I move them outwards with causing problems? Will make some much needed room.
  24. Pont v-8s were all the same size, little bigger than a chevy sb a little smaller than the bb. Weight wise same thing. It's basicaly a tweener. think a 77 is about 225hp. but great bottom end. Will respond to some simple mods and make good HP while still being streetable.
  25. I'm building my frame rails out of 2x3 .120. Then they will be placed to the outside where the flange is now on the frame, that opens it up by 2" between the frame rails. Now here's the big question, can I move the TC brackets out? If I loosen the two bolts on the rod it moves about 1 and a half inches, I could then move the brackets 1 inch outwards. Gives a lot of clearness for the starter on one side and oil filter on the other. Oh yea I speaking of a Jag V-12. Found some webers overseas and after Christmas I'll be getting them. Think this swap is now a go. Now is Blueoval out there? what about moving the crossmember forward? Would it help? I'm just building a driver with GTO body, not a racer.
