  1. Not yet...I am trying to find a stock tranny bolt so i can compare it to the one's i bought. The thread and pitch are right and they thread in fine...but they are not tight in the holes...I can take the bolt and put it through the tranny and shake it around inside the hole about a 16th of an inch. I dont know if the bolts are suppose to hug the hole through the tranny or if their is supposed to be a little movement????
  2. Thanks, After you told me about the engine stand i found the post you listed above. I just went and found them this morning.
  3. Yeah he lost them.... Dont take offense to this MomZ but how logical is it to search for engine stand when looking for tranny bolt sizes???? Im not new to Hybriz.....Ive been on the forums for several years...I just didnt ever create a user name....Anyway thanks for the help it will help out. My motor is a l28 w/225mm Flywheel, 1977 5 spd
  4. I recently took my motor to my builders shop with the flywheel and clutch still bolted up. I got my motor from his shop last week and the clutch and flywheel were in a box.....So i have searched everywhere i could think of and can't find the sizes of the following: Pressure plate bolts:???? Flywheel bolts: ???? 12X1.25X20mm Maybe these Tranny Bellhousing to block bolts: different lengths?? Please help!!!!!!!! I am trying to put my motor and tranny back in this weekend Thanks Ted
  5. Somebody needs to go do a few burnouts and calm down........I havent seen this much drama since i raced toy cars for bowling trophy's.....
  6. Hey cygnusx1, Our cars look almost identical
  7. Zeiss: A friend of mine is running 7:1 and has all the same components as i do and i love the way his car feels in Boost.........plus i would think detonation would not be as much of a factor @ 7:1 as it would be @ 8:1 18psi on the f54block or the n42???? So since i know the history and miles(low) on the n42 block i will run the n42 block, p90, 2mm, arp, and all the accessories stated above. My plan is to street tune with the wideband and go to the dyno for final tuning. The dyno is actually only about a mile from my office. At what psi of boost should i start to question the n42 rods??? I know of several people who run 18psi on f54 rods...but thats the problem...im not running a f54...so give me some advice here guys.........
  8. Thanks Cyg, Compression will be 7.1....w/hks 2mm & p90 on the n42 bottum end. As stated above either bottum end will be equipped with arp throughout. Megasquirt will handle the fuel & timing, Holset Snail, etc Maybe what i wrote above was confusing but the list above is what i will run on the temporary block
  9. Thanks Drax & Piper, I have found threads about the block itself but i cant seem to find any info on the rods from the n42 block....I was told a while back that all l28 rods were relatively the same rod???? Ive been searching for two days and have not found any definitive answers yet concerning the rods. I have total confidence in the block, but the rods are still in the grey area...
  10. im at a stand still at this point with my turbo set-up.... I need to know if there any differences in the strength of l28 rods specifically between the n42 block rods and the f54 turbo rods. Heres the deal...... I am building a fully forged bottum end but it will have to take a while because i have other more important priorities that i need to take car of first...so i will have a fully forged bottum end but it wont be for another 4 or 5 months..... Let me start by giving you my components(which are all in hand or in the mail) to give you a better idea of where im headed: Holset, 440cc's, megasquirt, fmic, tial 38mm wg, hks 2mm head gasket, p90 head, n47 intake, msd 6al, etc, etc Either bottum end i use will be outfitted with ARP heads, mains, rods options: #1 Very used f54 block with questionable cylinder walls new bearings, arp, light hone , leave stock pistons and rings option #2 11 thousand mile n42 bottum end this bottum end has been bored 20 over and has new pistons, bearings, etc, etc Option 2 is a very good n/a motor (runs like a champ) but will it hold up to 12psi on the street? I would rather use the n42 block because i know it has great compression, good bearings, good pistons and rings, etc and not have to spend the money on the f54 since the bottum end will only be in the car for a maximum of 6 months. But will the n42 bottum end be a strong as the f54 outfitted with the same hardware? or is it a huge concern at 12psi (dont think so) any and all help would be appreciated. Ted:D
  11. I happen to have an LT1 for sale cheap....If thats the route you decide to go..
  12. Initial purchase of car already painted with Panasports etc. - $ 6k ZZ4 & T56 from donor car (after the shell was sold) - $1500- super deal Cage assembled and painted $ 600 Brakes to stop the v8z - $ 650 Coilovers to compensate for the extra weight - $600 Autometer Gauges - $575 JTR kit - $1100 Driveshaft - $200 Framerail modifications and bracing - $100 (material only) M/C and hose etc. - $300 So that puts me @ $11,625 so far and the motor and tranny are still sitting on the floor next to the car....... The conversion car above was the nicest z I had ever seen when i bought it. Its was painted and completely rebuilt before i bought it...so i payed alot for it because the work was already done. The reason i was willing to pay so much was because the owner had hundreds of pictues (2 shoeboxes) throughout the process and all the receipts. It has brand new interior, dash, paint, undercarriage was powdercoated as well as undercoated, wheels, seals, etc,etc..........As nice as the car was with the I6 it was just too slow. A totally opposite build would be my dads 280z..... LT1 and th350 - $1100 Car - $350 (great body bad motor) Solid axle w/machine work - $700 Springs - traded a old amp for them - $0 Dash- aluminium- $50 (material only) Cage - $500 Wheels - $200 Procharger - $1200 (had 25k on it) N2o - $400 (used but complete) which brings it to: $4500 Gauges - $0 (good friend) You have to take into consideration that all the fab work for the axle mounting as well as all the labor to install everything is being done by me and my dad.
  13. As a few of you know im building a 327 for my Z and have asked several of the v8 guys for advice....I was having a shop build the motor in the begining that i was not 100% comfortable with so i picked up the motor and took it too a very well known builder in Houston to finish it up. I got a call Friday from the new builder and was very sad when i hung up. My crank is cracked as well as my heads.....I have spent about $1500 on internals(that can be returned) and was going to spend quite a bit on machine work....So today i ran into an old friend from the racing days that i have not seen for a few years. We built his Monte Carlo about 4 years ago and installed a brand new GM H.O. 350 (NAL-12486041summit) motor and a brand new t56...The car is a 1987 ss and was reliable and fun. So after a few minutes of talking he told me that somebody stole the radio out of the Monte and hasnt driven it since(3months ago) because his wife gave him her old car...02Mercedes....(must be nice)........After talking for a few minutes he told me he would like to sell the car since his hot rodding days are over and he doesnt have the room for it in the garage.... How much..........$2500.......and i can have it.......which i think is one hell of a deal since i know what he actually paid for all this stuff and helped him put it all together.......The motor doesnt leak oil or smoke or anything else....Runs strong....So i am tempted to go this route and put the motor in the z the way it is and not modify it at all. I can get the car built and running and always pull the motor later to do a cam and heads. I was just wondering if it would be wiser to use the newly aquired 350 and t56 the way they are and tune the car and complete it in a relatively short amount of time and MOD later....or mod now since its out of the car.........Modding being cam and heads????? After getting deep into the v8 swap i am starting to think that the motor is the easy part and i should focus on all the other things that need to be done before building a real high horsepower motor..... Any thoughts guys?????
  14. Do you want to sell the t-56 ??????
  15. post the pics please!!!! I need to figure out how to set it up also. Texas is way too hot not to have A/C. Any pics would be appreciated.
