  1. First of all, I would never run the standard pads in the front. I'm going to run R4-S up there no matter what. I've run my car on track several times and I know the value of good pads. I used to run Hawk HPS up front, but the rotors just weren't good enough to keep the temps down. I always had standard Raybestos shoes in the back too. They never really got hot. This 240SX setup is still 10x better than my old drums no matter what pads I run. It can't be worse than it was before! I realize that brake proportioning via friction materials is less than ideal, but I am on a budget and my rebuilt 240SX calipers came loaded with normal pads. Frankly, I probably will just bite the bullet and pay $60 + $40 for the prop valve, but I don't really want to.
  2. They won't be weak no matter what. I want to use the stock proportioning valve if possible, so I don't want too much rear brake. I know the S12W front + 240SX rear guys can't get enough rear bias, but the S12+8 is different. I definately don't want the rear locking up.
  3. How do we get a 240Z bumper to fit on the back of our 2+2s? I know there was a thread about this before, but I can't find it because the search engine doesn't get what "2+2" really means.
  4. They remind of '81 Turbo Snowflakes. I'd have to see them on a car.
  5. I'm trying to decide on brake pads. I have S12+8 vented calipers in front and S13 240SX calipers in the rear. '84 N/A 300ZX rotors all around. Stock proportioning valve and a 7/8 master cylinder. I want Porterfield R4-S in front. Should I keep the stock pads in the rear or go with R4-S's there too. If I kept the stockers, I could save $60.
  6. The 82-83 280ZXT distributor can be made to work with the normal L28 oil pump shaft.
  7. Everybody knows about the 280ZX, Maxima, and 240SX rear caliper swaps, but I was wondering if it was possible to do a 300ZX rear caliper swap. I think I could get Z31 rear calipers much easier than 240SX calipers and I'm wondering why nobody has mentioned this before.
  8. Loud pipes save lives. I'm doing my part...I have 3" exhaust on my car.
  9. Yep, the weight difference of a 2+2 is not the difference between a fast car and a slow car. My '76 California emissions car was really slow. It was still slow even with the turbo swap. It didn't feel fast until I added Z31 ECCS and finally got the the AFRs/timing right!
  10. I was 15 when I got my 2+2. I would have taken the Mustang too. When it comes to a nice new V8 Mustang or a slow-as-hell brown thing from the 70's the choice is obvious. I went with the latter option, but only because I couldn't afford the former.
  11. Yeah he must live in or near Kalamazoo, Michigan. It's a small world!
  12. That's a 70-72 240Z bumper, not to be confused with the 73 240Z bumper, which sticks out farther. Some people say the steering feels lighter, but I didn't notice a difference. Why would he have pics of my car? Is he perhaps on kzoorice.com? BTW, IIRC, the 2+2 is 12.2" longer at the wheelbase which I believe makes the car a bit easier to handle at the track.
  13. Turns out I just got S12-8 vented calipers with Z31 vented rotors. These use the same pads as the solid rotor S12-8, right? Are Hawk pads available for these or do I have to get Porterfields? Also, does anyone know if they are narrow enough to clear the 15x6 '81 ZXT snowflakes? Which rear brakes would be the best match for S12-8 calipers? 240SX calipers, 200SX calipers, 280ZX calipers?
  14. The spring rates on the 2+2 are the same in the back, but stiffer in the front, IIRC. The Tokico kit is probably less than ideal, but it works. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/springs/index.html
  15. This 2+2 haven sure is nice. We don't have those coupe elitists saying things like "No offense dude, but your 2+2 is the ugliest piece of crap I've ever seen in my entire life. I prefer the coupe model."
  16. I have this kit on my 2+2: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKICO-HP-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-NISSAN-260Z-280Z-75-78_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQihZ006QQitemZ160158794214QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Don't listen to what you hear about how it doesn't work for 2+2s. I've driven this car a couple different racetracks and it handles great and sits level. In hindsight, I should have bought Tokico Illuminas, but the HPs work fine.
  17. At least it's slightly better than the giant 74-76 go-kart steering wheel. When I paint my car in the next year or two, I'm going for this nice clean look. No more rocker moldings, thin bumpers, 240/260 turn signals, air dam, etc.
  18. Just installed a 240Z front bumper on my 2+2: It drops 40 lbs of weight, shortens up the car, and makes it look better, IMO. It looks better and seems faster with all that weight gone (placebo effect?) but I still need an air dam (the stock front valance looks odd with the new bumper) and some rubber strips to cover up the holes. Not sure what to do about the back. I don't think the rear one looks that bad, but it is 50 lbs of dead weight. Lots of new space for an Evo intercooler! Anybody know how to do a 240Z rear bumper swap on a 2+2?
  19. An 84-85 300ZX Turbo ECU is the only ECU that will work without changing the O2 sensor or reprogramming.
