  1. My race team and I have decided to paint our '91 Honda CRX ITA car before next season. I don't personally own the car, but I do autocross it and work on it a lot. First of all, what kind of paint is best for a racecar? I was thinking that single stage urethane paint would be best, but I've heard that BC/CC is easier to apply. We're looking for a durable finish that will be able to withstand duct taped on numbers. Also, the car may need to be repaired at some point seeing as how it runs with those a-hole Miata drivers in ITA. The car will be painted gloss black, BTW. Also, someone a long time ago decided it would be a good idea to put a big checkerboard stripe on the car in thick crappy paint. Also, some of the OEM paint is chipping off on the bumper cover. All of the paint stripper chemicals say that you can't apply them on plastic, but it would sure be a PITA to sand the bumper down to bare plastic. Would stripper work okay on a plastic bumper cover? The plastic mirrors have that yellow paint on them too. How should it be sanded? It looks like the doors have to be taken down to bare metal since they are covered in the crappy yellow paint which is peeling off. I tried using 220 grit and an orbital sander on the sunroof panel. It works good, but I'm wondering if this is too harsh. Should I try 320 or 400?
  2. Yep, I know the Honda D16A6 has that setup. The Chrysler 3.5L V6s are also like this, IIRC.
  3. Here's an old commercial from when it came out:
  4. My dad just picked up some Sears Craftsman 2 ton jackstands and...wow...they are pieces of crap. The welds are rough, there's burn-through, and the less said about the paint, the better! Made in China, of course. Didn't Craftsman used to mean quality? Anybody know where I can get some decent 2-3 ton jackstands? I know some of you were raving about 24,000 lb jackstands a while back, but my jack probably doesn't go up that high and not even my 2+2 weighs that much.
  5. Yeah, there are no copper washers at the brake lines on an S30. They have inverted flare fittings (not bubble flare). You can pick up some Japanese metric replacement brake line at any local auto parts store in various lengths and bend it yourself.
  6. There's nothing wrong with Hondas. I loved driving an ITA CRX at Blackhawks Farms Raceway this summer. It definately handles much better than my Z.
  7. Wow! I can't believe all the misinformation in this thread.
  8. I have not seen any proof that slotted or crossdrilled rotors do any good. They're definately not worth the money. You'd be better off buying a Z31 rotor, Modern Motorsports spacer, and vented S12+8 calipers.
  9. I tried to add sound deadening, but my car is so leaky and insulation traps water. The last time I camped out at the track, I had to throw my sound deadening in the trash because it got so wet!
  10. I have 6.5" Kenwoods under my quarter windows and 4" Pioneers on either side of the center console. I'm not really happy with the sound system. It's pretty hard to hear over my L28ET.
  11. I plan on cutting out the fenders when and if I get Sportmaxes so that I don't have to worry about them banging on the lip.
  12. $400 shipped for a set of 16x8's is cheap! I don't think they look that great, but the price is unbeatable. You could get it that low with sectioned struts and MM coilovers.
  13. Does anyone know if MSA's ZG flares will fit the rear of a 2+2? I think there may have been a thread about this, but the search engine is not "2+2" friendly. I think a shaved rear valance, ZG flares and 16x8 Sportmax 002's would make my car look 10x better.
  14. 15x6 1981 Turbo wheels with 205/60/15 BF Goodrich G-Force Sports. I repainted them their original silver color with Duplicolor wheel paint.
  15. I'm going to order some custom lines from Modern Motorsports. I almost got some stock 240SX lines from Agency Power, but if you use the stock brake line mounting points, you run the risk of wrecking them on the E-brake arm. The 240SX brake lines also use a banjo fitting, while the stock lines have a female fitting. The Modern Motorsports lines get rid of the hard line on the passenger side, but you will need to modify the hard line on the driver's side.
  16. I'd go with Sportmax 002's if I were you.
  17. You may have messed up on the order. It is possible to send him money via PayPal but not actually order the parts. It just happened to me. I emailed him about it and everything got taken care of and they shipped the next day.
  18. I didn't think an '85 ECU needed dropping resistors. At least the '85 turbo doesn't. http://www.redz31.com/pages/fuel.html
  19. Nice body roll. Stock suspension FTL. My Tokico setup is better, but I still want something stiffer:
  20. The best song ever is "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. That is a fact.
  21. Thanks! I told my dad about this and I helped him pick out some Yokohama TRZ's for my mom's '99 Oldsmobile Intrigue. They're supposed to be pretty darn good and only $312 shipped with valve stems!
  22. At least my bastard child 2+2s will always be affordable. More for me!
  23. You can't get those here. The US 260Z 2+2 bumper didn't even fit close to the body. It needed rubber betweeen the body and bumper:
