  1. I believe I need additional safety features in my car. I keep thinking I am going to eat my steering wheel. I have 400whp and 2480 lbs of weight.

I think the answer to my question is a roll cage and a 4 pt harness. I have been looking for a cage and Jegs seems to have several reasonably priced cages that see to meet my needs.

I know nothing about cages. So, in looking at the diagrams, the 10 point seems to have the best protection. The bars are 1.625" instead of 1.75" however. $370 shipped doesn't sound bad either.

I do not race this car, but I drive it hard sometimes.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

  2. Found that fuel pump wasnt pumping enough. Now have bigger fuel pump. It cruises along sweet. But when its hot the idle drops. And seems to be detinating when hitting boost. Any help would be appreciated

If it is detonating, that isn't a boost leak. That is too little fuel, too much timing, too much boost, too hot of intake or too low of octane gas. Your fuel is exploding too early. It could be that your timing is too advance. It could be that your intake air is too hot and the mix is exploding early. I would turn back my timing and or run premium gas. See if that fixes the problem.

  3. Anyone wanna redo my interior? I have it apart and am too lazy to do it. You must be in the midwest and capable. PM me. I am in southern indiana and do not want to travel too far. I need floor pans installed, seats installed, dynamat installed, one door fixed, etc.

  4. Hey my c34 with blacktop s14 sr20det in it was in getting checked out. Mechanic found that my fuel pump was only pumping 18psi nd it was leaning out. It now has 500hp bosch fuel pump. It runs better but hot idle is not good and seems to detinate when only just hitting boost. Ne ideas?

18 psi is not good for an injected engine. What size injectors are you running? Which turbo are you using? The stock injectors can't really handle any significant upgrades. The 550cc injectors are barely good to 400 hp. They run at 90%+ duty cycle.

  5. you sir, are amazing, thats the exact pump i have sitting on my bench. any problems running it with the stock fpr?

I run the same walbro pump. I have no problems running it with the stock fpr. I think most everyone runs a walbro.

  6. My loaded 240sx hatch weighs 2800.

My base 240sx coupe weighs 2480.

    Both have SR's.

    My 240Z L28 weighed 2320 with a half a tank.

240Z with an SR is still to be determined.

These were all weighed on the same truck scales so they may not be perfect but they always weighed the same.

280Z with full tank of gas and SR is 2480 with no weight savings other than bumpers replaced with MSA Aero III.

  7. Welcome to HZ! I have seen alot of conversions done with L shape brackets coming off the frame rails. I just happen to have an old set of 91 cams. I do have a word of advise. The 280Z might be too heavy for that engine. Most guys put these engines in a lightweight 240z's body.

LOL, my SR is in a 280z. It weighs in at 2480 lbs with no weight reduction other than the bumpers. I don't think weight is an issue. Besides the KA24 is a truck engine.

  8. Glad to see you have discovered the Nissan 4's. My little SR20DET is still putting down 400whp and getting 33 mpg. It starts without fail and the only issue I tend to have is occasionally, I have a hole in something. I daily drive it at 18-21 psi and it hits full spool at 2800 rpm. I have blown vacuum fittings off my intake manifold. I have also blow a couple of holes in crappy intercooler elbows. Other than that, changing the oil and adding some gas every now and then, it is maintenance free.

  9. This car was last owned by John Denver. He sold it to a person who put it on ebay. It was shipped but the shipment was hijacked.

Well, actually, I can't tell you anything about this car other than it is a bluish colored 510. Maybe you could provide some more information.

  10. Yea they are quite nice. I work on them myself. They have the superfast trans in them which shifting is down to 100 milliseconds. Sport mode opens flaps in the exhaust so you can actually hear the car now instead of the standard gran turismo and it also comes with a new powerplant. You outta drive one :)

I wonder if I asked very politely if she would let me take it for a spin? As you can tell, I live in a small town. maybe?

  11. Poor shot placement. The outcome would probably have been the same regardless of caliber. I was on a jury where the defendent was shot 7 times in a hallway with .40 HydraShok hollow points, at 10 feet, by two cops, who discharged 19 rounds total. The defendent looked a little worn down at trial, but he was alive and talking.

    Fittygot shot NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMES.

  12. Having owned various 1911's. I can say: DO NOT buy a Para-Ordnance. They eject poorly. Also, speaking of plastic guns, I have had the frame break on them. DO NOT buy a Colt unless you intend to do some significant work to it. They are great guns and I love mine after considerable tuning. Think of a Colt as a barn find Z. You are going to have to do a lot ot make it reliable. The Kimbers are nice especially because they have an external extractor. They are pricey though. I think you are on the right track though. If you want a $1000 gun, go buy a Kimber 1911. If you want a cheaper gun to shoot, buy one of the hordes of cheaper guns, the Springfield XD, the Taurus 24/7, or one of the others made to go out of the box.

  13. BTW, let me guess, it was a Para Ordnance that hit you in the face with the piping hot shells. I used to have one of those too. I also have one of those Colt Custom Combat Commanders. Believe it or not, it would not even feed ball rounds brand new. Feedramp was way too rough. It gets old sending guns back to the factory for issues which they shouldn't have.

  14. OK, I have a few guns, I admit it.

When I purchased my first .40, I went to a store with as many different brands as possible. I picked up every .40 and raised it to eye level as if to shoot. Point and shoot style. Believe it or not, the only gun that came up exactly on target each and every time was the Taurus 24/7. This gun was actually cheaper than most. Money was not an issue. However, this gun for me is an auxilary defense weapon. This is a little different than your purpose. I have run quite a few rounds through it with no issues. I have also owned several guns which feed poorly or eject poorly. I have not had that issue with this gun. I would suggest holding a lot of guns to see which ones come up on target, then shooting them.

I agree with your caliber choice too. I own virtually every caliber. I like the .40 because it is just a fun gun to shoot.

  15. I was daily driving mine until I broke my left ankle into pieces.

I have around 400 whp and the car weighs in at 2480 lbs. I get 30+ mpg and it will outrun most anything on the road.

My commute is 70 miles round trip and I have had no reliability issues other than blowing holes in couplers at 20lbs of boost.

I have put it up for sale in the classified section.
