  1. I hate to be a naysayer, but after building a project Z only to have it eaten by rust, I have to say, scrap the project now and find a better Z. I just recently bought another Z. I had to have it shipped from Oregon. It is as rust free of a Z as I have seen. I paid $2200 plus $950 shipping. It was so much better of a deal than trying to start with a rusty Z. I didn't want to listen to anyone last time and I spent $12,000 on my Z before I ended up ripping it to pieces and parting it out. Lesson learned.

  2. Thanks for the quick answer. I had Arizona Z springs last time and they worked well in my V-8 Z. This time, I am going the Datsun route. I put in a bigger clutch, etc. I am sure by this time next spring, I will have replaced the motor with a turbo motor. That is if gas prices don't get too out of control. I found the whole Illumina package new on ebay for less than $500 which is what the Arizona Z springs and regular Tokico's would have cost me.

  3. OK, took my car to the local guy with a garage. Here is the problem he is having. I know nothing about springs.

Anyway, I got the Tokico Illumina package with springs. The springs are considerably shorter. He says that since the springs are shorter, they will twist or pop loose whenever the car is jacked up or on a lift. I can picture what he means. The shocks stretch a lot farter than the springs are long. Does anyone understand what I am talking about? I am sure that this is something simple, but my mechanic doesn't know and I know nothing. Please help.

  4. OK, I am switching my tranny from 4 spd to 5 spd. While I am at it, I am going to throw in a clutch. Do I need anything other than this clutch kit:

  5. The weatherstripping kit is the one sold by Strictly Z. I paid $240. I am willing to sell it for $175. I have never opened the box.

Everything needed for the ZX brake conversion is included. I want $350 for the ZX brake kit. I will include: 1. The loaded ZX calipers trimmed to fit behind most aftermarket wheels. 2. Rotors 3. Mounting bracket for calipers. 4. Hard brake line on caliper 5. Stainless braided brake line for car to wheel. Let me know. Thanks. Lewis.

  6. OK, here is what I am selling. I am parting out my conversion. This conversion was done right. If there is anything you need, make me an offer and I will respond. Anything that I don't sell will go to ebay. Thanks. Lewis.

So I got this car built then had frame rust problems. So I bought a 1977 280Z with a Stable Autoworks Ferrari GTO kit sitting on it. The car was set up for a sbc but the drivetrain was removed. I was planning on moving everything from the one car to the other, but I think I bit off a little more than I could chew. Between the body work to complete the GTO kit and moving everything over, I am looking at 100+ hours of work that I don't have time to do.

I also have a spare 1972 240Z with a good engine, good SU carbs, and a 6 to header. I bought it for the wheels, but the engine is great.

So what do you guys think? Should I bail? Is anyone interested in any of this stuff? Could I get out with my shirt? I have over $15000 invested and I know I can't get close to that, but do you think that I could sell some of this stuff? Anyone want to buy anything? Anyone want to do some body work at a reasonable price? Maybe I could just pay someone to finish the body work on the GTO kit... What do you guys think?

  8. I am losing patience. I am thinking about selling my sbc Z, my stable kit sitting on a donor, and a junk parts car. The stable kit is sitting on a nice donor. It has been fitted to the car waiting final bonding. The donor is a 1977 280Z. The car did have a 400 sbc in it. It used the Jags that run mounting kit. I will entertain any offers on the kit and donor. I also have a 1974.5 260Z with a 355 sbc in it. The sbc has edelbrock heads a chrome powermaster alternator. A $300 griffin 1.25 inch radiator, etc. All the best stuff. It also has a polyurethane bushing kit, partially installed, and a new door/window/taillight gasket kit. The frame is kinda rusty, so i was going to move everything over from it to the stable car. Let me know if anyone is interested at lewismaudlin@yahoo.com. Thanks. Lewis.
