  1. Well I went ahead and picked up a dakota digital box. But the tach still doesnt work. I removed the inline resistor, but now i cant find it. Could that be the problem?
  2. Sketch_hs says he used the stock 280z tach with his 1jz motor by removing the inline resistor. I tried this with two different tach wires coming from the 1jz motor and neither of them worked. Has anyone else done this with success?
  3. What needs to be fused besides the efi relay?
  4. What did you do about fuses? Did you use the Datsun fuse box? If not, what? Did you add any fuses anywhere? I'm also curios about the wiring for the alternator. Your thread has helped me out a tone with my swap. Thanks a ton.
  5. what year camry, celica, cressida? Or does it matter?
  6. Sorry for bumping an OLD thread, but I'm curious what you did for the throttle cable. Any one have an idea?
  7. I am creating this thread to help others looking for info on wiring a 1jza80 motor into a Z. I have been researching for a few weeks for this swap. When it comes to experience, the most I've done is put an after-market radio into a car. At first it was a little daunting but after getting help from "frankdms" on SupraForums, i began to understand. In the past two days I have been able to get the motor running. Feel free to critique what I've done and add your own info or ask questions. My vehicle: 1978 Datsun 280z My motor: 1jza80 w/ R154 To get the motor started and running, nothing else, you just need to worry about two plugs on the 1jz harness. IH1 3- (RED & BLACK) switched +12V **** EFI 9- (GREY) switched +12V ***** IGSW signal from ignition 10- (BLACK w/BLUE STRIPE) ***** Starter signal 14- (BLACK) switched +12V ***** Ignition coils and injectors EA2 1-(BLACK & YELLOW) constant +12V 2-(BLACK & ORANGE) switched ground 5-(BLACK & RED) switched +12V You need to use a 4 lead relay. Since I'm not keeping the A/C, I reused the 280z A/C relay: EA2#1 goes to 30 lead of the relay EA2#2 goes to 86 lead of the relay EA2#3 goes to 87 lead of the relay Lead 85 of the relay goes to a ground. That is all I have for now. I keep this thread updated as I go.
