  4. Welp, shes out of my hands now. Today i trailerd the 280 to the wiring guy's shop. the motor/trans is fully installed. I bought this car 2 1/2 years ago for 900 bux..from a friend... i had no prior knowledge of Z cars but i figured it would get me to work and get decent mileage... I had no idea i would build it into this monster...haha .. did all the body work, complete tear-down/assembly of the suspension, everything. Except spraying the paint and i oped out the wiring also 1 week befor the West coast Z meet in orange 2006 i blew the L28's head-gasket with nitrous.... i was pissed i didnt even go.. did not get my tee shirt that i had paid for either. This year im going. This is my first car that "ive" built. Sure ive had fast cars before but not like this.. Hi, my name is Andrew Reed and im an addict. heres a lousy picture of the car back on the ground after 11 months of being on jackstands. i later realized i had the camera on close up mode.. my bad I'm still planing on 8 point roll cage, rear disc then im basicly done.. well that is until something breaks! ahhaha cant wait to drive it, im going insane! Edit: total $$ so far.. 14k... my "EX" g/f just didnt understand but i understand. 14k for a car that will blow your mind.. priceless
  5. Thats what i was thinking too.. I guess i could just put the canister back on the wheel well and hook the line back up... but isint there a better way? i guess you just need a safe way to let off fuel vapors right?.. how about back to air cleaner maybe? or that would create vacume? the only thing i know would work would be to put back the canister... There's gotta be a better way. drew
  6. im running a SBC, i have the new fuel pump all hooked up, Feed and Return... now the small VENT line... what do i do with it..? was it coming out of the stock charcoal canister? im not useing a canister now so what do you carbed v8 guys do with this line? thx andy

  9. what dia gauge's go in the stock dash for speedo and tach? 5 inch? and the 3 small ones are 2 1/16?   10. I too have been thinking about budget EFI for sbc... I doubt that explorer elbow has the same bolt pattern, but i bet it could be modified. OR i had the idea of useing a carb spacer and welding a 4" 90~100 deg. mandrel bent alum tubing to it and then making a billet plate to bolt the TB up.. needs to be welded also... or wilson manifolds has two types of 4150 style elbows http://wilsonmanifolds.com and some 4500 styles below My plan was to use mustang injectors, mustang Throttle body, Team G single plane intake manifold with injector boss's welded in, for fuel rail you can use 3/4" brass hex, drill a hole all the way thrugh it and machine for injector spacing, and Megasquirt. There is some other odds and ends but i dont think it would be all that costly.
  11. what is the break-in procedure for a gen 1 SBC flat tappet cam motor.. its never been started, and i already primed the oil pump but thats about it. i plan on fire'n it up sometime this weekend thx andy
  12. hi, i was installing my holly fuel punp for my v8 and got a little confused. Since the car was EFI there are 3 lines going to the tank.. one on the top of the tank one middle one lowest whats what? also im going to run a mallory bypass regulator thx andy

  15. thanks for the replies, unfortunately i bought the motor as is.. i wish i had the cam spec's but was told it has "slight lope" and higher lift than one would think for a tq cam.. but i do agree that the intake need to be changed to a 180 deg. dual plane. What im regreting is buying the th-350. Ill be on the lookout for a 5 or 6 speed manual. Have you guys seen this n20 manifold? looks really nice http://www.noswizard.com/images//products/spider%20lg.jpg BTW: how much nitrous can a stockish low compression sbc take? 100hp?
  16. hello there, im almost finished with my swap, 280z, fresh .040 over mid 70's sbc, 8.5;1 compression, herbert torque cam, weiend X-cerator single plane intake manifold, TCI th-350, summit 2k stall converter, mallory dizzy and 6AL box, march serp. underdrive pulleys, alum driveshaft, stock rear end, 265 tire.... I really have no idea what to expect and/or if my combo of parts is even going to work... any thoughts? andy

  19. Well i was intending as using it as a Y-pipe. im running a v8 and was thinking headers into the dual 2.5" inlets of the muffler then Single 3" all the way back to a magnaflow, I was concerned about too much back pressure?
