  1. And what do euro tails for z's look like? Edit: Nevermind, I searched. I thought you had aftermarket, not oem euro. I thought you bought altezza style tails for the Z, and I didn't mind losing the investment I made in lunch to see what they looked like.
  2. I pulled the whole thing. Next week I start rewiring it. If you're not elbow deep in yours by then, I'll try to post back with anything I regret pulling.
  3. If you remove the back seats, what's the point of keeping a 2+2? Aside from loyalty of course.
  4. There is a nice yellow Z that I pass on my way to park at shea stadium every morning. It's parked usually at the same place, I guess the guy works somewhere on that block I'd like to ask if he's interested, but I don't want to walk around trying to figure out where he works and track him down, seems kinda creepy. If I happen to see him on the road i'll flag him down. Unless anyone here knows who he is... Car parks in between college point and flushing, across from the cement places. E-mail received, Thanks C Mike, hope you can make it down. I'm pretty sure I can get up and running for the meet, I just hope I pass inspection.
  5. Overboard meaning grinding 1/8 of an inch off of bolts, removing EVERYTHING not structural, and swiss-cheesing everything that is structural... You ready for that kind of commitment, and the possibilty of a crumpled pile of car if you do it wrong? You are also going to have to replace a whole lot of parts that don't need replacing with parts that don't necessarily perform better. Good luck with your goal. Keep us posted. You should also sell your 2+2 260z and get a 240z without the back seats. Also replace your v6 swap with a lighter motor too. If you're trying to go that low in weight might as well do a motorcycle swap while you're at it, At least then you won't have to worry about torque bending your swiss cheeZ.
  6. It's an 8 gallon. The dimensions and shape are great, I'd like an extra 2 gallons, but no big deal to me. V8 = No emissions for me. It's currently not tied into the car. I'm looking for some good looking fasteners to use. When I do I'm going to try to use 4 fasteners, 1 at each corner and run a bead of some silicone, or similar sealant. I thought about welding, but it's enough of a pain to take out how it is and if for some reason I have to take it out, I'd rather not break welds to do it. Yeah... $18/sf for aluminum, $11/sf for steel, And mine was rusty and free/sf from the guy who did my exhaust. A half hour with a wire wheel and it looked much better, then a coat of paint and it looks like I bought it that way. I know the 12 lbs won't do anything... Over the rear tires is still the best place for it if it has to be there.
  7. There are a few pics on the link a few posts up from below the cell. I priced out diamond plate aluminum... $18 a square foot. I started with 12 square feet. I can't see paying over $200 for a piece of metal to mount my $150 fuel cell.
  8. Thanks. I cut out the spare tire well. It's too much for a lighter gauge metal to span without welding in additional support (which would bring me close to that weight anyway. More pics for anyone interested: http://www.putfile.com/buymyavenger/images/143384
  9. So I spent the weekend putting more money, sweat, and chunks of my knuckles into the Z. Installed the fuel cell and a 25 lb sheet of diamond plate steel in my trunk. New Stuff 52 Lbs. Old Stuff 40 Lbs. Gained 12 Lbs. Before: After: Some more bodywork done:
  10. Damned mountains... They never look both ways before crossing the street.
  11. Awesome! Congrats on that. Even though there a few bugs, that must feel great!
  12. I don't eat full cakes in one sitting... But, I do see the point in that breakdown, well explained.
  13. Thank you, Much better revised version... submit it to wikipedia.
  14. No... it's not the point. It's like if I buy one of the two things that I want, then have to use it as a coffee table instead of putting it on my car. I know what the saying is supposed to mean. Like you said "you can't have it both ways. The cake scenario does not apply though.
  15. This one pisses me off: Have your cake and eat it too... What the hell am I supposed to do with it then... Stare at it? If i'm not gonna eat it, i'd rather not have the damned thing in my face.
  16. Whew just ordered a fuel cell and 8an fittings and lines. And an ez wiring harness Hopefully I'll save myself some time by not messing with the stock tank. Anyone need a stock tank, and a full course of tank treatment and sealer from por-15??
  17. I just took off work the entire week before the meet to do a last chance push to drive mine there. I can't do any location where we aren't within 50 ft of the cars at all times. I have no top, and no plans for any type of anti theft by the time of the meet. I'd love to make a few runs with the car at E-town though. How would the setup work for a group of us going there? How are the pits setup there? Could we all still park in a group between runs? TeamNissan, How's your car coming? I saw the project thread, paint looks good. Think you're gonna make it?
  18. I'm hoping it was in an accident and that was an amateur attempt at fixing it.
  19. Failed attempt at Perpetual motion?
  20. Doesn't matter much to me. I'll be there, whatever the date.
  21. Remote control car servo might be a good idea for the throttle. With that kind of setup you could make your "gas pedal" on your steering wheel or somewhere interesting like that. Edit: It would be very easily adjusted from inside the car, plus They are very quick and responsive
  22. anyone have a cure for "while i'm at it" syndrome? I'm trying to get mine done for this, but today I decided to shave my door handles and locks, so the only real progress I made was getting my hood primered.
  23. 2nd week for me, but only because it gives me more time. I'm available for either so don't count my vote. It's more important to me that the biggest amount of people can make it. Edit: And it's awesome to hear that you are staying. Definitely gives the club a stronger base too.
  24. All of the top kits for convertibles are ugly as sin and do not fit the lines of the car. My car and the other two that i've seen in person have no roof at all. That said, Anyone wanna buy a soft top???
  25. I keep my TT keyring empty because if I leave any other keys on it they hit my leg while driving. I was thinking today about how if I lose it no one will be able to contact me to return it. So: I printed out Reward If Found, and put my contact # on it. Then I cut a piece of tape to fit. I realize there are some downsides to this. Mainly that you could possibly get my address from the # and steal the car. Use at your discretion, just a tip I figured I would pass along.
