  1. I wonder how many people have used the automatic bellhousing with a hydraulic TOB setup? If anyone?
  2. Easy way to do this. On an electric pump, jump the relay to turn it on. It just needs enough fuel to be past the reserve portion of the tank, a 5 gallon gas tank is MORE than enough. On my 280zx, my reserve is right at a gallon or so before it starts injesting a little bit of air with the fuel, but all you need is enough fuel to fill up to the baffling. Don't worry too much about it, just if the fuel pump sounds like it's running dry, pull the power offa it.
  3. You're definately gonna need more fuel. a 255 lph pump runs out of juice right at about 425 hp worth of fuel, especially if you have a rising rate fpr to make up for small fuel injectors. BTW my math skills are a little rusty, so bear with me. Your 42 lb/hr injectors are good for 448 hp at 80% duty cycle, so they'll be maxed out on anything more than 5.3 psi (based on stock efficiency numbers of the engine, i have no way to account for the efficiency of the new cam), so... yeah. Look into a new fuel pump definately, and possibly bigger injectors.
  4. Ok, while I figure out my power supply, I might as well think about safety. What I am considering for my 280zx is this: Halo Bars Dash Bar Harness Bar Extension Bars (to rear wheelwells) Cross Bar (to tie the rear suspension upper mounts) Diagonal Bar (behind driver to passenger side wheelwell) (for some reason I feel torquey) Now, here's where my issue is. Redline Time Attack doesn't let the cage penetrate the firewall for the limited class cars (hot street, street tire class) What I was thinking... to kinda loophole the rules would be the dash bar being welded to a 4"x4" plate at the corner, with a 4"x4" plate on the other side of the firewall to meet the front wheelwells, and a small diagonal to where the hood latch is. Think that will be stiff enough to handle a lq9 with a twin turbo setup? The engine will make conservatively 650hp on pump gas, but will twist the un-reinforced chassis like a pretzel. Ideas? Edit: BTW, this is .160 DOM mild steel tubing, cause chromoly will cost 3x as much to save... maybe 20 pounds.
  5. How much torque are you planning on installing in that engine bay?
  6. Here is the next question... Have you checked your new intercooler for leaks? I dropped a new turbo on my dsm, and didn't tighten down one of the corner clamps tucked inside my bumper all the way... turbo was screaming, yet I was only getting 15 psi at the manifold. two turns of the clamp, and I was boosting 35 psi (i too had thought it was the boost controller, so I had moved it up). Check for leaks around the stuff you just touched, then look around from there. If the turbo's yelling, she's producing airflow. The question is, where's it going? Edit: The simplest answer is usually the right one. : )
  7. Heh, did ya make sure the springs were in the perches correctly? Measure the bumpstops? Did the kit come with new bumpstops, etc? I had a car a customer brought me that rode like ****, and he had just slammed the car down, and it was popping on bumps and around corners. He had gotten some coilover sleeve things (ugh) and had put them on the stock shocks, without looking at the bumpstops, which subsequently kept the springs from seating. Long story short, quick run of a set of cutters and a heat gun, half the bumpstops were gone, and the car seated properly. (still rode like crap, but with stock shocks, whatcha expect?)
  8. Now, here's a question. Would the S14 rear subframe work better, since it's bout an inch wider than the s13? I have seen the s13 under a 260z, but our cars are a wee bit wider, and with the fender flares I personally have planned, well, y'know. Also, I've heard rumors of a 280z (not zx) with an R32 rear subframe under it, anyone can corroborate this?
  9. Heh, got a 1983 coupe non turbo, that I paid $1 (one dollar) for, replaced the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail, jumped her off, and drove her home. As good of a deal as that sounds, it is now sitting idle because I'm at a junction. It needs valve stem seals, so, naturally i'll pull the head for some sort of work, as it has 216k miles on it, so it will probably need guides, plane, gasket set... so then it becomes a .080 head shave, new guides, longer valves, spacing the head hardware... so that turns into a new cam... or wait, I got a p90 head sitting here... Well, anyway, for the 1500 bucks i'd throw into the engine rebuild, now i'm considering the v8 thing... but that's a cage, and a lq9, transmission...two td06-20g's... ugh, I can't make up my mind!
