olie05, i think the comp ratio is in the low 11's. the delorto's are 40 mm with only 30 chokes. yes the chokes are too small but this is what i had on the L26. i have not tuned the carbs at all with my new combo so i'm sure it will only get better with some tuning. I'm new to z's and have a lot to learn but am enjoying the ride!! I am certainly not a purist but i am sure having fun with this little L motor!

I just wanted to share my latest combo as a whole bunch has been written about the mn47 maxima head. The motor is a low mileage L28 with flat top pistons, ported mn47 head, delta 280/460 camshaft and delorto triples. This combo replaced a stock L26 with the same delorto triples. Although i only have a couple hours on this combo, here are my thoughts if anyone is interested. 1) The power difference is huge over the stock L26!!! Night and day!! The drivability is also much better because of the increase in low end torque and throttle response. 2) The mn47 head and L28 flat tops with full timing (35 degrees) is certainly doable with pump gas with a couple caviots; 93 octane Chevron pump gas and I cleaned up the chambers. I flogged it for a while and then checked the plugs with no signs of detonation. Ran it hard, ran is soft and no signs of detonation. I intentionally lugged it in fourth and fifth gear at low speeds and it did detonate. I never drive it like that, but it will detonate if you lug it!! 3) the 280 cam is very streetable with great response down low and rev's strong up high. I'm unsure of rpm because my tach is not acurate. If you want a rumpity idle, go larger! (should have taken jmortensens advice on this one)..... 4) I bought this car three months ago and have spent waaaay too much money on it but I love it!!! I really enjoy the web site, i read it everyday!! thanks

i've tried searching for the baddest n/a L engine on this site but no luck.... i'm new to z's and i love to dream so who has the baddest (most hp)..... in my newbe opinion, i think anything over 250 hp - 275 hp is very stout but i'll bet there are guys out there with much more!!!! thanks

i just had the same problem from mine... the accelerator pumps were leaking which are located under the carb. now if its leaking from the ventura tube, that is another story. good luck

that is exactly what i was looking for. thanks a bunch!!

Has anyone purchased just the headpipe (from MSA) that connects to the stock exhaust manifold? if so, does it hang low or does it tucked under the z pretty well? my z is pretty low and i don't want to scrap the ground.... i searched with no luck and can't seem to get a reply from MSA. thanks

Rebird replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
IMHO, car looks real nice... I would certainly think the money is about right as well..... if i were in the market, i would call him to get more info. Am i the only one that would pay that for that 240z... errr... 260z? -

any pic of "slotting the strut tower"
Rebird replied to Rebird's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
twoeightnine, nice threads.... great info from all!! since i don't have coilovers, i'm guessing i will only be able to "slot" the struts 1/4" or so??? front strut = slot towards the engine (decrease pos camber) and rear strut = toward outside of car (decrease neg camber)... thanks -

Rebird replied to Rebird's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
thanks olderthanme..... i'm going to try and slot the front and back a bit just as you said. it doesn't appear that it will take much movement to make a difference. thanks for the info and good luck on your z!! -
Wow!!! those caps look great!! just placed my "full cap" order............. thanks

any pic of "slotting the strut tower"
Rebird replied to Rebird's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i do not have coilovers..... i did lower the car and i'm in the process of getting the wheels to sit better before i align it. the rear tire is toe in pretty far so i guess i'll order some offset bushing.... not excited about a rough ride though..... maybe i'll just bite the bullet and install some rear control arms. that should fix it and still have a nice ride...? is this correct? thanks for the input!!!! -
i have read so many posts on slotting the strut tower for more camber but i have yet to see a pic of the "proceedure" completed.. does anyone have a pic handy? also, am i assuming correctly that this can be done just on the front as i don't recall any mention of slotting the rear tower. if this is a stupid question, please excuse.... nubee..... p.s... i love this site!!!!!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

those cars are very impressive!!!! i must say, i really do like the thin 240z bumpers.. front and back!!! thanks for all the pics.... 240yoke, what front air dam do you have?
-
Ha Ha.. I would love to see current pics of some z front ends without the bumper...... i searched and found a couple pics but i'm sure they are quite a few of you that don't run a front bumper.... thanks!!! p.s.. i have an early 260z and my bumpers are fried!!!

Why are my rear tires moved forward?????
Rebird replied to Rebird's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
after checking out some of your pics, i think it may be closer to normal than i first thought. since i just lowered my car, the wheels look a bit crooked... do i have to get camber plates to correct that or is there another fix? thanks again!! -
