  8. You might have trouble squeezing that in. I had to shave a corner off the motor mount in order to fit mine and my runners were no where near as long as yours.
  9. Attempted to get her running yesterday, fresh gas & oil, new plug, replaced some old fuel lines. Usual story of my life no spark! The ignition system is a Motoplat which was made in Spain during the 60's-90's. The good thing is there is a lot of information out there on these since they were used in tons of dirt bikes at the time. My quest for speed continues.. Walbro Carb Looking very F1
  10. Thanks guys, it will be slow going since my projects seem to be building up on me lately. Not sure if I want to get it running with the triples or get another set of stock carbs. We shall see. Until then it's nice going in the garage and seeing two 240's
  11. The story goes a co worker asked me if I knew anyone who wanted to buy a go kart. I've dabbled in some kart racing before at various indoor tracks and loved it. I said I may be interested but in the back of my mind I was thinking it was going to be a junker. He didn't know what kind it was or much about it at all, just said it was 100cc and it went 95 mph, just wanted it out of the garage as it was taking up too much space. I went to check it out and was shocked. It was a completely legit racing kart from what I thought looked like something from the 90's. Naturally I picked this bad boy up and began doing research to figure out what this thing was. The chassis is an Emmick "Cobra" which has been making carts since the 70's out of Sacramento Ca. I don't think these are made anymore since the owners have both passed on but I can't confirm this yet. The motor is a DAP T50 2 stroke 100cc. DAP motors were made in Italy during the 70's and 80's to combat the popular Kawasaki KT100's. The DAP T50 is supposed to be virtually bulletproof. The kart ran a year ago and I'm currently draining all the fluids and giving everything a once over before I attempt to fire it up. Really excited, this thing looks very fast. When I was researching the DAP motor I found out that racing legend Ayrton Senna had raced DAP motors/karts. He also said that kart racing was one of the purest forms of motor racing there was. I was looking through some pictures of Senna and stumbled upon pictures of him racing in a battle against Alain Prost in 1993 and noticed how similar his kart was to mine. I'm not sure if that was someones original intention to build this kart modeled after Senna's but I think it makes it twice as cool now!
  12. I figured the rebuilt engine comment was BS but it looks pretty fresh to me, cam still has lube on it.
  13. I spotted this 73 240z on Craigslist that looked to be left for dead in a dirt lot 15 min up the road. The pictures and description were vague as expected from Craigslist. It said something to the tune of "Needs restoration, has rebuilt motor, will need to be towed, asking 2k". These were the pictures: Obviously to the trained eye this Z had some decent money put into it at one point. I met with the current owner who didn't know anything about it. She said it was her husbands who is no longer around, and it hasn't ran in 3 years. Upon closer inspection I noticed it had a 2.8 block, e88 head, Ansa exhaust, 6-1 header, larger front sway bar, rear sway bar, strut tower bar and the interior was full of parts new and old. I got her down to a very nice number and made the deal that day, got the clean title, and the registration was even payed for and on non op. The car was registered to them since 1978 so I would assume they were the 2nd owner. Here's some pictures the day we picked it up. All 4 tires were flat and they aired right up and held which made getting her on the trailer easy. This cars nick name should be the Black Widow.. I've killed quite a few already, and that's the only reason it's not in the garage right now. Need to bug bomb it! The car was loaded with extra parts inside. And the money shot, triple Mikuni 40's. Found rebuild kits inside the tattered glove box. My original plan was to part the whole car out and make some easy money but the more I got into it there was a lot to like about this one and it's begging to be brought back to life! It does have it's fair share of surface rust but I haven't found any areas that are bad enough to scrape the ol' girl.. This video came out a week after I bought my car. Same color, same wheels, same location, and left for dead!
