  1. i believe it's the ground control coilovers, he is also using the 300zx 5 lug hubs with 2000 350Z rims and has the 300zx rear end (lsd). isn't lowered really low but to me it's just right. no rubbing issues on bumps or hard turns...i'll be doing the same before my big turbo upgrade. I'll probably make a post soon regarding all my ordered parts once they get here just to give people an update
  2. I'm not going to upgrade the turbo for now. I'm going to focus on my suspension first and then upgrade. I think this power will last me for a while. Riding in my friends Z with coil overs makes me really want go coil overs..It feels so good.
  3. It was shipped before i posted this...... But to the audio guy i had a question for you. Is a 13" JL W3V3 subwoofer too much for a Z? I just wanted one sub and didnt know if i wanted to do a 12 or 13.. I had 2 12" in my Lexus SC300 in the past (NOT JL). Thanks for the help
  4. Well for me, I made sure I thought about everything before I dove into it. Here's some the parts that I ordered to solve some of the issues.. Nismo N1 Water Pump Nismo N1 Oil Pump (N1 is crap compared to Nismo Oil Pump, HKS, Greddy, etc..) but it was affordable. All New Gaskets New Tensioner and Idler pulley (OEM) Nismo timing belt. PRC Dual Pass Aluminum radiator 16" electric fan with a thermostat As for the turbo I know they can run 10psi no problem (keeping mine at 10)...It's just that they have a ceramic blade so they can go only up to 11-13 psi before the turbo goes BOOM plus my engine is from at least a 98 so i'm not too worried. After the engine goes in I'm going to try and dyno my bad boy and see what it kicks out to the wheels...My body is in decent condition not the best but not the worst....funny thing is a while back I took my car to a drive through car wash....knocked off both my side mirrors...WTF!! then when i did my L28et swap, my front air dam fell off on the highway and got stuck between my wheels...another WTF. So no air dam now, just my 240Z bumper on there hahahaha. Dent on my passenger door...but besides that nothing really. TOTAL SLEEPER .....I've even had people laugh at me...but it was me doing the laughin after I left them far behind.. Lesson learned: Trying to show off with a pretty girl in your nice car can embarass you when you get smoked by a 30+ year old car with no bumper....
  5. I'm going RB25DET NEO . waiting for my boxes too lol
  6. I ordered a lot of parts for my car recently too...feels a lot like christmas.....Broke but happy lol...enjoy your V8 swap.
  7. I was wondering where can I find some HybridZ Decals? Especially like the one in the left corner where it says Engineered to be feared. This site has helped me plenty on my project and got me where I am today. I would love to throw some HybridZ decal on my ride and possibly my intake manifold where it's all polished up. Any help would be greatly appreciated once again. Can I make them with your guys' permission for my own use and not for resale?
  8. Umm..a little late to chime in, but Rob at Z Car Garage. If you are not sure who he is his car was featured in Import Tuner I Believe. The green Z. only problem is he's really REALLY expensive. but worth the price. or so I have been told from every Z person I have met. Here's a link to his site. http://www.zcargarage.com/ How expensive? Okay here's my experience. I called him asking to do a L28et swap in my 75 280Z. I was going to provide a donor car which had the engine, tranny and everything else. He said swap was going to cost at least 5000 but this was a year ago.
  9. SWEET....now time to look into angles of the pipes so can order them..know any good place that have aluminum pipes that can be welded? polished if possible...it will match many things under the hood...I'm drooling just thinking of how my engine is going to look when it's done....everthing should look nice..topped with a Nismo strut bar. Pretty awesome to say "I got Nismo Parts on my 33 year old car" Thanks for the reply
  10. NOOOOOO .....I already ordered an intake manifold from JGY....Why do you hate me God? Looks awesome...How much anyways for a RB25? If the price is right maybe I'll sell my JGY and get yours....
  11. Hello everyone, Well I ordered a crap load of parts so I can get my engine in and working....I was wondering, for the intercooler pipe size what should i do? Some say 2.5" and some say go 3" (because of the 90mm throttle body). I don't know what should I do...Please help. Here's what will be on my 75 280Z engine wise...keep in mind i will most likely upgrade in the future. 1998+ RB25DET NEO Nismo N1 Oil Pump Nismo N1 Water Pump Nismo Timing Belt Nismo FPR (will purchase real soon) Walbro 255lph fuel pump JGY Intake Manifold Q45 90mm throttle body Custom Intake w/Nismo Air Filter HKS BOV HKS Manual Boost Controller Custom 3" exhaust Once everything is in and done I'll be sure to post some before and after pics
  12. srbigbutt did you find the answer to getting the wheels to fit? I'm thinkin of using the same wheels but my car is lowered an 1" with tokiko springs and shocks. Also, I got the Toyota S12W up front and heard that RB-R's won't clear them (kinda sad)... If the RB-R isn't going to fit I might end up keeping my Sportmax 002 (16x8 - 0 offset)
  13. Thanks for the help so far, I'm going to do some searching and see if I can fit a staggered setup...16x7 (front) and 17x8.5 (rear) or maybe 16x7 (front) and 16x8 (rear). all the offsets will be +04. I'm going to see what I can find. Most importantly what fits without any spacers....I'm going to roll the fenders though so hopefully someone out there will chime in and lend a helping hand.
  14. Hey, what tire size are you running? And have you found out the offset yet? Have you done any brake upgrades to your ride? Thanks....Nice ride BTW
  15. I'm thinking about selling my rims (Sport Max 16x8) to another fellow Z owner who's working on his 2nd Z. I might be getting these Rota RB or RB-R once I sell my rims, but not sure which one yet. So, pics and specs of your car would be greatly appreciated. Okay, before you start yelling at me I have searched and searched and read. All info I get is mostly from people who are using coil overs so those of you that don't have coil overs can help me. Here is where i need help besides looking at your awesome rims to decide. I'm thinking about 16x8 +4 offset or 17x8.4 +4 offset. I know that the 16x8 does fit with rolling fenders, but will longer wheel studs be needed? Is it possible to run 245/50/16 in the rear and 225/50/16 up front? Or will rolling my fender would not matter as the rear tires of my choice will bug out? Also, what about the 17x8.5? All the people running them are using coilovers..I'm notm will be switching some time in the future. Will these clear my current set up? 1975 280Z (Finally pulled my engine and tranny out) Tokiko Springs (lowered about 1") Tokiko Shocks Toyota S12W Brake Calipers (front) I will roll my fenders!! BTW, Here's an update on my car. Getting ready to sand, cut, degrease and paint engine bay. After this will be my RB25DET NEO eninge and Tranny!! After some more searching tonight, I read that the RB-R (16x8 +4 Offset) WILL NOT CLEAR Toyota 4x4 Vented Brake Calipers..Is this Correct? Also there is a lot of confusion between the RB-R and RBs. Can some clarify which one is the straighter one?
  16. Well you can find air dams almost at any site that carry Z parts. MotorsportAuto, Zspecialties, and there was two more I can't remember right now. try doing a search for carbon fiber zg flares. you should get 2 sites Motorsport Auto and the other one. As for the grill they are JDM or custom grills from what i can see. MSA has JDM grills and there was a custom grill on ebay a week ago. It actually looked pretty good.
  17. Well, after a hard a long night of thinking what to do with my car. Once again I might go with a different engine. I need your guys' input and opinion about what I should do...I'm really lost as what engine will be put into my car...Heres the break down of thoughts in short. RB25DET NEO- $3000 Shipped (with Tranny) Greddy RB25DET Intake Manifold- $800 Shipped Total of $3800 not including install or anything. Should I just go with a RB26DETT? Considering cost of the RB25 Swap...Reason I am going with a NEO is because it's rare and puts out the same BHP rating as the 26 not to mention its newer than the rest of the 25's...... Help me decide what I should do and what you think. I'm so lost and my head can't stop spinning......Damn ADD
  18. Do you know if these will fit without coilovers? I am using Tokiko Springs and shocks at the moment.....Might pick these up and sell my sportmax 002 if they fit....I don't mind rolling the fenders. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  19. There is a lot of good stuff here about the RB swap use the seach function and FAQs not to mention stickys. I had the L28et originally before I blew my motor. Here's my reason why I decided RB25DET NEO instead of rebuilding my L28ET Newer engine (At least by 10 years, in my case about 15+) Newer technololgy Reliablility Dual Overhead Cams Parts availablility Power gains Rareness <---Big Factor Personal goals Although an ITB L28ET would be SWEET. Don't really see one of those everyday. With the money you save dump it into supsension. Good luck with your project and which ever way you decide to go just make sure you are happy. Side Note- L28ET= 180bhp 6500 Redline RB25DET= 250bhp 8000 Redline? (Still can't confirm this) RB25DET NEO= 280bhp 8000 Redline? (Still can't confirm)
  20. With whatever engine you are going for don't forget about the drivetrain....The RB26 and 2JZ and some other engines can brake stuff because of the power..I'm personally will be going with a RB25 DET NEO once my back order parts come in...If you are on a budget L28ET is the way to go. You can get good power out of them and when fine tuned they run pretty well. My friend has a 73 240Z with the l28 motor running 13psi...Pretty fast and his supspension is really sweet too. Whenever doing a swap take fabrication, use of vehicle, performace goals, budget, and your personal likings into consideration. I rather wait a little and be happy with the end result then be disappointed because I wanted to save a few dollars here and there.
  21. The back rotors are not hard to find....The only problem is trying to find the front vented ones. I have found them but they are not Brembo. From my research, they seem NLA or discontinued....BOO!!. I will still look and see. Hate to use POS front rotors and Brembo rears.....
  22. Hmmm...Thanks for the help, looks like i will really consider getting 10" springs instead of the 8. Also, what shocks/struts should i use. I want to use Tokiko Adjustable because they are affordable. Although i hear Koni is better. Will the shocks/struts need to be shortened or anything? Can i use the struts/shocks right out of the box without problems? I hear i need to get the shocks customized because of the sectioned strut tubes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. This forum has been by far the best help with my project. I will post pictures of my progress.
  23. Well, I was taken for a ride in 73 240Z just a few days ago. The guy was running the L28ET with 13PSI. Car was pretty fast....But his suspension was really nice...coilovers with the z31 hub. not to mention 350Z rims...Makes me miss my car......Anyways, I was planning on getting the Modern Motorsport Coilovers for my 75 280Z. My questions is whats the advantages and disadvantages of having 8" springs and 10" springs? I'm not sure what to get. This car will be driven daily with a RB motor in it. I will probably switch out the rims every now and then too (16x8 & 17x7). I will probably take it to the track every now and then but i'm set on spring rates being 225 (F) 250 ®... BTW- If you are odering parts from nismoparts.com the Rear Sump oil pan needed for a RB swap is on back order for a month...(My Project is now DELAYED!!)
  24. The injectors you speak of are for the R33 & R32 Rb25DET. They are not for the NEO version of the RB25DET Deatchwerks only carry the 380, 440cc, 600cc, 850cc for the motor that i will be using. Although my motor is a RB25DET it's a different version. It came out of the R34 and not R32 or R33. most likely i will end up getting the 600cc one and rebuild my turbo. Currently looking for a shop that can tune my stock ecu..Once tuned i should be able to run 15psi safely (hopefully). Then it will be time for the interior.
  25. Whoo hoo, I got an answer. well...sort of but good enough. The reason why I am getting a 480cc injector is because Deatchworks has them as a direct replacement. so less work dealing with a new fuel rail and fuel lines. I'll consider bigger injectors though (Better safe than sorry). As for the ecu I agree. Without a proper tune it will only run at whatever the manufacturer has set it up for (it can't compensate for all the changes without a proper tune). Anything after that risks the chance of my engine going boom for the THIRD time lol. I guess i'll start looking around and see if there are any shops that can tune it with a dyno. Keep the help coming. More info is always better than none. Thanks for the help. Any chance you guys know what these engine redline at? I've been told 8500RPM but when i look at cluster pictures they are at 7000RPM. Also when looking at the specs max horsepower is at 6400RPM (Although redline averages about 1-2000 higher)
