I'm in the same boat as you...I'm about to purchase a Reman'd Garrett T3/TO4E internal wastegate. from gpopshop....It comes with a standard Ford/Saab 5-bolt flange which can be swapped out for a V-Band...I'm seriously thinking about it...They offer a good warranty and are a reputable shop from what I found. They're price is good too.

thanks mtnickel, but I think I'm going to be sticking with the Garrett...I hear great stories about the Holset...that was my second choice of turbo.

Hello everyone, I'm going to be doing a turbo upgrade for my RB25DET while the engine is out and getting ready to get dropped in. My question is will the following turbo work on the STOCK turbo manifold without any issues like rubbing against anything or anyting else not related to tuning. I've searched and a lot of people are either running the GT2871R or the HKS 2540. haven't really found anything regarding the T3/T4 for the RB series. Garrett T3/T4 TO4E Compressor Cover TO4E 57 Trim Wheel Watercooled center section Stage 3 Turbine Wheel .63 Turbine Housing Internal Wastegate 360 thrust bearing and stepped gap piston ring *Edit* Ran into a problem already....the turbo which I will be purchasing from GPopShop has a standard Ford/Saab 5 bolt downpipe flange...So, now I need to find an adapter or flange so that the downpipe can be custom made....Any Ideas where I'll be able to find one?---NVM..Called GpopShop...They can do a V-Band so I can run a custom downpipe... Please help me fast as I'm about to make the payment for the turbo. Thanks again everyone

Hi again everyone, Well it's been a while since I've been back on Hybridz. Too busy with work and everything else in life...But thought I stop by and say "Sup" to everyone and give a little update of what's going on with my ride.... Well besides missing my car (Still in the shop for the RB swap), I've bought some new wheels at an awesome price. Or at least I think I did lol. Well Here's what I got, sorry no pics yet..I'll post pics of my car once I get it back. Hopefully soon....I've been dreaming of driving my car Front- Rota RB 16x8 (probably run 205/45/16) Rear- Rota RB-R 17x8.5 (probably run 225/45/17) Both rim's offset are +04 For the front pair, I paid $100 with tires (crappy tires) but the set is near new condition. there is slight scratch at the top of one rim but you can't see it unless you're really close..looks like the person who installed the tires scratch the rims. The rear pair cost me a whopping $300 BRAND SPANKIN NEW. Uhh...don't know what else to say. Oh yeah, no tires. Total Price $400 OTD...Same for what I paid for my Sportmax 002 a while back. The rims are next to my bed....don't have a camera anymore but I'll see if I can get one to post some pics. Did I mention I miss my car...Been driving this piece of poo Honda CRV around....WTF....I miss my car.....I demand my car....NOW!!!!....Give me give me lol. Hopefully my Nardi steering wheel which is suppose to come in tomorrow will hold me over till my car comes home. Well, nice to see everyone again.....

Midnight-280Z replied to stayTRUE's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well if you go to his web page, you can go to his Myspace page to check out some of his work. Look in his picture folder. My car is the blue Z that you see with the L28ET...that was before my air dam fell off on me on the freeway lol.....But great news...Some dude gave me a free air dam that has air ducts and its urethane.....better than the one I had before. Now my car has returned for a RB25 swap....I might be heading out there this weekend to check up on my car but not sure about my schedule yet. Just glad to help another Z enthusiast...(Is it just me or do Z owners show other Z enthusiast the utmost respect? This is a great thing not a bad one) -

No Problem, what are your plans for your car? Also to let you know. The guy who you will be talking to didn't want to be a Z mechanic...but it looks like he's turning into one lol...He doesn't really mind it though.....Maybe he does hahahaha -

Hey, My car is currently at Daft Innovations in Modesto not to far from you. I'm getting a RB25DET dropped along with some other stuff like Front Brake Upgrade, FMIC, Gauges, H4 Conversion with Dave's Harness and some other things. You can check out his website at http://www.daftinnovations.com/ This is the second time I have came to him. He's a one man shop. First time was a L28ET. He's done RB20's, RB25's, L28ET's, on our Z and has a LS1 240sx..He does all his own custom fab and his prices are cool too. I like him, but that's my opinion. -
Which Engine To Choose???
Midnight-280Z replied to 240z_808's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I personally go with a RB here's why- 1. Nissan and Nismo parts availability 2. NisTune 3. Reliability 4. Newer than most engines (depends on which RB you get) 5. Still a 6 banger 6. Preference 7. Potential 8. "I got a RB" I didn't do a rebuild but I spent about 6-7K on my RB swap. I do have Nismo Goodies too...It's hard to get Nismo parts for such an old car these days. A lot of people don't give credit to NisTune also, finding someone who can use NisTune is hard. I would keep everything as much Nissan as I can. V8's and 2JZ are great but I'm trying to go with a Nissan theme. Remember if you do the swap yourself you will save thousands of $$$$ to dump else where...Which will end up being cheaper. -
Finally....My Update
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well you can't see it in the pics but the paint ran a little in 2 spots, it wasn't that bad....My buddy who painted it is kinda like a perfectionist, he didn't like the run so he repainted the whole thing...then the paint started to web as it dried...Sucks!!!..We are goin to redo it again for the 3rd time today..As plans for the project here they are. Engine- RB25DET Polished Valve Cover JGY Intake Manifold New OEM Tensioner pulley New OEM Idler pulley Nismo N1 Water Pump Nismo N1 Oil Pump Nismo Strut Bar Nismo FPR Nismo Air Filter Nismo Timing Belt Q45 Throttle Body 3" Trust Downpipe (Modified) 3" exhaust goin to a Magnaflow muffler 3" Dual Pass Aluminum Radiator (PRC) HKS SSQV BOV HKS EVC III or IV (electronic boost controller) FMIC Interior- MSA Full Dash Cap Auto Meter Pro Comp Tach (electric) Speedo (electric) Boost Gauge (mechanical liquid filled) Temp Gauge (electric) Fuel Gauge (electric) Nismo Shift Knob Brake- New Brake Booster Modern Motorsport Front Brake Upgrade (S12W Calipers, 300ZX rotors, Goodridge SS Brake lines all around) Lighting- Hella E-Code H4 Conversion Hella 80/100W H4 bulbs Dave's Headlight Harness Kit (Dave is another member here in-case you didn't know. AWESOME HARNESS!!!) This will all be done at the shop. I have all the parts already too (Been piecing this project together), Car is goin to the shop on Saturday. If not, I'm gonna commit suicide.....JDM style lol Future Plans- (I have these parts in my storage waiting) Body MSA Type 3 Body Kit New JDM Fender Mirrors (They're chrome right now i'll paint them to match my engine bay) I think I'm missing something.....oh well Wow that's a lot of parts.....when I think about all my parts it give me motivation to push myself harder -
I think the "Greedy" manifold is overly priced....i settled for a JGY intake manifold instead....For some reason I trust the "Trust" brand over "GreedY" they are the same brand except that one is JDM...

S1 RB25DET or Wait for S2 RB25DET
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Moderators, please delete this posting....Found out the engine is a S2 and don't want to have useless threads taking up space... Thanks Saturday could be the day it finally heads to the shop -
Hello everyone. Bad news for me.....Venus Motors ran out of RB Trannys....So, this is where I'm at...Im really close to getting my RB25 engine. I got all the parts to do the swap and will be taking it to the shop either this weekend or next. I have an opportunity to pick up a S1 RB25DET for $2,000 OTD. The engine is running and in a 240sx right now. The only mod that has been done to the car is a new clutch and the Neo6 Turbo. My question is should I pick up this set-up or should i get wait for the S2? I'm getting anxious and don't want to make a bad decision because of it. The S1 engine and tranny is all in good working condition with no problems, my mechanic said he boosted up to 10psi max and made about 275-280hp (pretty sure this is not dyno #'s) he has had this engine for about 2 years now too. Help me fast...... Thanks

should i paint my z with original color?
Midnight-280Z replied to srdub-t's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Save up for that perfect paint...Don't have a multi color Z.....It looks funny and you'll be a lot happier that all jambs matches the new color. Some people skimp out and the car looks cool when the doors are closed, but when open it doesn't look right and the owner is not happy....I'm going to repaint my car but I'm still undecided...Maybe i'll paint it like Austin's car since my original color is blue....Right now i'm working on my engine bay and painting it Satin Black... -

240z wavy roof a common issue?
Midnight-280Z replied to city hunter's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Over here in California some Z have wavy roofs due to being parked in a field and kids playing with the car (jumping on and off the roof)... Others are attempts at fixes but didn't turn out as expected. And some are cover ups of aftermarket sunroofs. Like Bartman said, some of these cars that have been damaged are a failed attempt to fix it or they just gave up and said screw it. Inspect the car in every angle if you can try to see if there was any other damages. Check wheel wells as its common to get boo booed. rear latches and open the door and try to see if any dents, bends, on the sill...Somtimes kids mess up these cars so bad that when they start slamming the door it puts dents everywhere.... -
Coolant Overflow Tank Question
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
ROFLMAO.....hahahahahahahaha it's more like 50 horses added..and for every sticker that's 20 more horses....I would really like to get a trusted brand...but I don't want to pay like 200+ for it... so I want a decent brand. Plus Weapon R's webpage is what really drove me in to think about it (All The pretty models)..ROFL I'm just an goof.. -
Well, I am about to replace my old plastic coolant overflow tank with an aluminum one. The question I have is....Which one of these two should I get? http://images.marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/fullView.asp?id=124686896&fc=0&img=http://sagelwwa.fatcow.com/826-111-101.jpg http://www.stealthwork.com/obx-high-pressure-universal-coolant-reservoir-tank-p-209.html?language=en&name=OBX+High+Pressure+Universal+Coolant+Reservoir+Tank The Weapon R one looks like it vents into the atmosphere while the OBX one looks like it is sealed. To me, I like the looks of a Weapon R but The OBX might be better.. If i am correct, shouldn't I get the OBX one because it's sealed and keeps the system pressurized? Thanks again for the help...One Step Closer to My RB Swap ()

Need help with identifing Pic Included
Midnight-280Z replied to surfsnake2's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Guess I'll chime in and help...... Picture on the left- Master Cylinder for your Brake Booster. Yes you can refill..Is it low? I don't know What is it for? Your brakes..fluids travel through your brake lines and pushes your brake caliper's piston to stop your car. Is there a process? Read the manual for proper process and cleaning, flushing, bleeding etc. Picture on the right- I believe it's your windshield washer fluid. Pour your windshield washer fluid in here to clean your windshield...If it works Those other sites are great to learn your car. Getting a manual it will do you wonders. If still confused, take up some auto classes will help you in the future. -
I got a 75 280Z and I love it. From a collectors point of view the 240Z was the one that started it all, 300lbs lighter, sexier bumpers all around, etc....but here's how I look at the 280Z...Technically speaking it's rarer than the 240Z..Why? because it was only manufactured for North America...meaning no one else has it. Also, it is the ending of the Z's before the 350Z came out. If you live in California you would also know that the last year for smog exempt was 75 meaning the 280Z just made it for one year. I've got a bad habit of collecting rare stuff, I'll post updates on my car once my engine bay gets painted. I've got quite a few Nismo parts in my Z () not too many people can say they got Nismo in their Z. In the end it's up to what you want and what makes you happy. Don't worry about what other people think, get what you want and makes you happy. Then you can build from their
