Also, a RB25 has a beefier tranny than the RB20...Power is easier to attain on a 25 rather a 20...But a RB20 revs to 8K which is pretty awesome...If you're looking for 250-350 WHP (dyno) it might be cheaper going with a RB25 as you'll need less mods than a RB20 to get there. The turbo on both the RB20 and RB25 max out at .9 bar (13.05342 PSI) it is recommended to not run any higher than 11 PSI on that stock turbo some people even say 10 PSI is the max. If your looking for 250-350 BHP (Base Horse Power), than a RB20 should be fine to work with and you should be able to get there with some amount of work. Tuning plays a big role so find a good tuner.

The problem I do see is your mounts will not be easily replaceable and if they break, won't your engine just drop? How come you just didn't get a kit which comes with engine mounts and everything else? A good welder, can make a very strong and durable mount no doubt, but a person who doesn't know what he's doing can cause more problems than it's worth. Just my opinion

If you're trying to lock your doors when they're open, it's not going to happen. Classic Z doors lock only when the door is closed. Meaning if you are trying to lock your driver door, you'll have to close it first before you lock it.

@HS30-H I take it your alright with what I did? I see a LOL, seems like I got you to laugh pretty good. For future use, when I refer to the Spirit Garage S30Z I'll just post the link to Spirit Garage's website to reduce complications that may arise. Thanks for not beating the crap out of me about what happened. @signal34 Your daugher speaks japanese and loves Z....Her husband must be a lucky bastard lol....I might take your offer on the translation thing. Thanks

HS30-H is Alan Thomas, which is the owner of the images. Now, I did not remove or alter anything from the images because as you said, it's out of respect for his work. I'm not going or will take credit for something that I did not do or have any intentions of dis-respecting anyone. I did not know that posting his pictures would be any violations which is one reason I posted (mainly posted because it relates to the subject at hand). His signature is still there, the images are not edited, I didn't even think about making this picture mine or go around telling anyone that I took this picture. I'm not making any money off his work or did I not credit him for taking the pictures (if you read my other post, you can clearly see I'm REALLY jealous of him to see that car up close and in person). His image are great no doubt. I look at them everyday dreaming that my Z would look like that one day. I'm jealous because of the fact that he is the ONLY one I know besides Spirit Garage that has any photos of that car at all and he got to see that car up close in person. He may have even got to ride in the car while I'm here staring at a monitor just thinking what it be like to actually see, hear, and if I'm lucky enough in this life time to even sit shot gun in that beauty. Alan Thomas (HS30-H), if you are reading this and I have in anyway dis-respected you by posting these images, I'm truly sorry. Please contact me through PM or reply to this post and I'll be sure to remove all the images I have used that belonged to you. If you are super mad or offended that I have used your images without your permission, I'll take full responsibility even if it means banning my account. I'll man up to my mistakes and not make any excuses.

video of rear disk conversion
Midnight-280Z replied to big-phil's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Very nice work Phil. A little off topic, Just finish watching your Datsun Donut video and your daughter sounds so scared. It's very funny:mrgreen: and nice work on ALL your videos . -
Welcome to HybridZ. Nice find and those seats look nice:2thumbs:. You are correct on the offset of the Rota that you have selected...I have the same but I run a staggered set-up (16x7(F)RB & 17x8.5®RB-R. I'll probably be switching in the near future to 17x9.5 all around. Your engine bay is already pretty clean Nice find and you'll find a whole lot of info here. To save you from getting flamed, use the search function VERY often..search 2-3 times before posting questions. A lot of them have already been answered many times and some people go ape ♥♥♥♥ when they see it again. Running any kind of suspension upgrades on that bad boy?

RB25 here but the term "Street Legal" is very vague and iffy. Lets put it this way, if we had to smog our cars, putting in a RB would definately not be street legal. Because our cars are classics, it doesn't make the swap legal. It's more of a loop hole in a gray area where people are not as concerned as much as other cars. Lets use another example 240SXs common swaps are SR20s. Can you get it to pass smog with a SR20? Yes, but is it legal? No. BTW you can remove my vote for RB25 because I didn't see your post before I saw the poll, sorry...My car is in the shop coming out soon but not yet. Please everyone, be like the OP and post them pics of your engine. I'm sure some of us wanna see what you got Here's mine waiting to come out (just a teaser)

*New* Video with my Coilovers
Midnight-280Z replied to SkYBlue280Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Corner balancing implies that the vehicle is applying equally distrubted weight to all four corners. Having the distribution of weights off can mean you'll make better right turns than left or vice versa. This can also mean that you'll understeer/oversteer in one direction versus the other and again vice versa. More information about it can be found at the following link. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/understanding-corner-weights/ -

You make the intro hella dramatic........nice vid....makes me miss my car. HBZ apparel FTW -
The kit that zccjdm offers is not the same as that black car. The g-nose is the same, flares are diferent though. If you search more, you'll find side pictures of that black Z which you can clearly see that the flares are different

Post your favorite Z other than your own.

RB20DET Pros/Cons...differences between other RBs
Midnight-280Z replied to Tech@EPR's topic in Nissan RB Forum
RB25 Pros Newer Easier to attain more power in it's stock internal form N-VCT (Nissan Variable Cam Timing) Beefier Tranny Better head design than the 20 Stroker kits available More torque RB25 Cons More expensive Lame Turbo (Better than the 20 though) 7,000ish Redline Weak piston ring lands Harder to tune than the RB20 Side Feed Injectors RB20DET Pros 8,000 Redline Cheaper Easier to tune than the RB25 RB20DET Cons Head doesn't flow as well as we would like Lame turbo No N-VCT Harder to get more power in stock internal form Weaker tranny than the RB25 Older Makes almost the same HP as a SR20DET out of the box 270CC injectors (stock) Sure there's more to both engines besides the obvious, but this is a start. -

Midnight-280Z replied to SkYBlue280Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I was just there looking at coilovers and suspension parts hoping the coilovers was on sale (unfortunately, it's not)...Came over here afterwards to check out the supsension forum and BAM, I saw your post...watched your video and made me want coilovers even more now. Did you section your struts when you installed the coilovers? -

Midnight-280Z replied to SkYBlue280Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Did you section your struts and are you running adjustable KYB shocks/struts as well? I just finished surfing Modern Motorsport's webpage and saw this post...Makes me want to get coilovers even more now lol. Clean looking car BTW. Love the stance -
What year is it? That's a pretty damn clean Z in and out. Cheaper than what I paid for mine too....If that's a 75 I'll be even more jealous lol. Great find and good luck with it.
-
Looks like you're moving this project along pretty nicely. Great work so far and a lot of work done in the little time you owned the car . Love that black car (Supra) in the background in your garage....One day I might have to buy me one lol. Keep up the great work
-
ohhhh....now I know . Must have been awesome to see that car up close and in person
-
The name sounds familiar but I can't recall exactly who he is off the top of my head...I do know I'm very jealous that he was able to stand this close to the car and take those great photos of it. Just once in my life time I want to be as close as he was....hell, let me just sit in the car so I can check off my "Things Accomplished" in this life list .
-
I didn't mean to offend you or anything. If I did, I'm truly sorry. Just trying to prevent wrong info getting out. Some people might end up getting those flares just because they think it is the exact one shown and end up mad when they go to install it and find it slightly different. ZCCJDM has some great products and he's also a member here as well. He got a HKS surge tank that I want really bad and a ZG front available for those who are looking for one. I'm sure he has almost everything it takes or will have to make that exact kit one day. Once again, I'm sorry if I offended you. Just a couple of more pics about that Black Z And for reference to Montezuma's post (These are similar Works Flares) NOT Works Flares
-
Gotta agree with HS30-H here about those flares being different from each other. The flares on the black car are "original" Arita Speed flares. You can visit their website for more info about them if you can read japanese.

STOLEN: Blue 280z in Downtown San Jose
Midnight-280Z replied to Pennyman's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I'm in San Jose...I'll be keeping an eye out for you...Hopefully they didn't get too far with the clutch problem you are having. By any chance, you know what car they came in? Sometimes you'll find the missing car not to far from their car..It can be a "joyride" car for them so they might end up parking it close to where they live. I'm definately going to be putting an alarm on my car once I get it back. Hope it really turns up soon. Can you make out their race by any chance? Certain races will hang out in certain areas which this car may be at.
