280Z Fuel Sending Unit
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I'll be ordering the same pro comp gauge that you are talking about. You got the 73 ohm emptly and 8-12 ohm full correct? can you tell me the steps needed to make it work correctly instead of reading 1/4 for full. Thanks, wheres the sending unit located? on top or the side? -
I got a problem with my fuel sending unit. Above half tank and my gauge works correctly and fine. But anything below that its a guess. Sometimes it will start to work right and i'll read close to E. but most of the time it stays half way. I think my sending unit is broken..Any suggestion? I found a great price on a new sending unit. Only problem is it's for a 70-74 S30..mine's a 75..Will this still work? also i will be getting the pro comp gauge soo.....I don't know if i should get this sending unit which is OEM or should i get the Autometer one part # 3262...PLEASE HELP I AM REALLY CLOSE TO ORDERING MY GAUGES AND WANT THE RIGHT THINGS BEFORE I GET THEM.

Autometer Gauge Help
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Hey timbo1jz is your fuel cell inside the car or where the original is outside? I was thinking about a fuel cell but couldn't find one that goes where the original one went So, here is what i found out....The RB25DET NEO tranny has an electric pulse type VSS so theoretically i can use the electric speedo. However, the issue i have found but not confirmed is that the NEO tranny uses a push type tranny and i need a pull type? Or it can be the other way around not to sure i forgot lol. Can anyone confirm this? -
About to buy all new autometer gauges. Does the RB25DET NEO tranny have a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)? I believe that's what it stands for. I'm missing this info for my Speedo, don't know if i should get a mechanical or electric. This is the last thing i need to know before i can order all my gauges. Any suggestions of where to get them? JEGS is the best place so far from my research.

Well, I'm going to be putting in a RB25DET NEO engine in my 75 280Z. I was wondering what Speedo gauge should i get? Mechanical or Electrical? Also, what fuel gauge should i get? I have searched and so far have found out that i would need to so is calibrate the gauge other wise it will read backwards. I will be getting the Sport Comp series just in case you are wondering. I'm goin to order these gauges today if i can get the answer i'm looking for. Thanks

Hello, I am getting ready to do my RB25DET NEO swap and was wondering if anyone knew if GReddy intake manifold for the RB25DET fits the neo version? I have searched and every where I searched it's labeled for R33 and not R34. I have seen it done but wasn't sure if there was any mods needed to get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew where i could get my Wings West Turbo whale tail wrapped in real carbon fiber? Not the cheap o' carbon fiber look but the REAL DEAL. The spoiler is made of fiberglass and I remember there was a place that did it but that was like years ago. Since then i haven't been able to find a place but would be really interested to get my spoiler wrapped in carbon fiber. Thanks for the help.

Rear Disc Conversion on 75 280Z
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Tell me how you like the MM rear disc set up, I was planning on them too....but some things came up and i have totally changed the direction of my project....Not the brakes but i am thinking of getting rid of my full L28ET swap (Engine, Tranny, Wiring, Intercooler, pipings, Blow off valve) although it is goin to take some time since i don't have a garage and its in my car now....Doing a RB25DET swap...newer, more efficient, and parts are somewhat not over priced. I want to know how you like your brakes though....Seems like it goin to be teh exact set-up i will have. so your feed back would be awesome...Thanks again everyone -
Cooling Problem Need Help
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks for the info guys. its raining where i am at so i cant really take pictures in the rain. However, I am looking for a new head (p90), but i would like my head to last until i find one..thats the hard part. Where should i get a radiator from? I found 3 places that i want it from and only one has a electric fan bracket for the radiator along with an electric fan specifically for the bracket [MSA]...But they want to charge an arm and a leg for it...*sigh* $439.00 for aluminum raiator, $60.00 for bracket, $280.00 for the electric fan. ArizonaZCar has the aluminum radiator for $349.00 (I really like this price) but no brackets or electric fan. I asked if they made one but they said that i would have to fabricate my own..only down side i can see (I suck when it comes to fabricating). bandmzcars.com has an aluminum radiator for $275.00 (Cheapest I found) but doesn't look as nice as the other two. Also i have sent them an email about electric fan brackets and an electric fan but no answer yet.... Anyone know if i can use the electric fan bracket from MSA on the AZC radiator? Also do you knwo what brand and part # for the MSA electric fan. I'm almost sure that i can get the fan cheaper than they charge..So far i'm leaning towards the MSA setup but hate to spend all that money. Thanks again guys..if problem is not fixed when the rain clears up i will take pictures of my car smoking =D -
Well, i got some cooling problem....damn it...i was just about to get this car ready for some serious work...problems after problems.....OK, first i blew a coolant by-pass hose the one tht goes from the intake manifold to the throttle body about 6 inches long...had to fix it at the Carls Jr parking lot..lol that was pretty funny....Now, everytime i drive my car i can smell coolant. When i stop and turn off my engine i rear a sound coming from the radiator area...(sounds silly but the sound sounds like a long fart) almost like some kind of motor is trying to turn on but doesn't..When i pop the hood, smoke is coming from the top of the radiator by the cap...Can anyone tell me whats wrong? I changed my radiator like a year and a half ago at a shop. By the way i got a 1983 280ZX Trubo engine in there with a 280Z radiator and 2 10 inch electric fans maybe 12 not sure. if that helps..If my radiator is busted, any idea of where i can get a aluminum radiator with an electric fan that isn't goin to cost like a $1000 like MSA sells them for? please help, i am willing to spend about 500 bucks on my cooling system to get it to work properly and in good order.....my car will be maxed out for stock internals soon so i am trying to get the cooling system up to par. Thanks for all the hellp

Rear Disc Conversion on 75 280Z
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
well, i just got all the stuff i need for the front brake upgrade =)....Toyo calipers, spacers, vented rotor, brake pads......Now what to do with the rear? I got about 400-450 to spend on the rear. don't want to blow a 1000 on the brake system because i don't need all that yet. maybe in the future but not now. i want rear disc brakes that work and compliment my fronts. nothing crazy. From the help i'm getting it seems it would be better to keep my drum brakes...i don't want drum..=( i want to see my rotors behind my rims =P. Thanks for all the help. You guys have been great like usual. -
Rear Disc Conversion on 75 280Z
Midnight-280Z replied to Midnight-280Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
so are you guys suggesting that i go with the toyo calipers set up in front and stick to the drums in the rear? pay day is today so i can make purchases . i'm 100 % sure that i want teh toyo set up with vented rotors in front. not sure what to do with the rears.. -
My car will be goin to the shop next month to get some engine work done (88-99 300zxt ecu swap with the Z31 map sensor, 465cc injectors, Pallnet fuel rail, n42 intake manifold and 240sx throttle body upgrade i even might upgrade my intercooler, intercooler pipings and turbo...not sure yet). It now time to make the beast stop.....Well, I have searched and searched and searched. I have almost decided on which rear disc conversion i want but still confused about certain things. First question- With the toyo calipers up front with vented rotors isn't the rear disc upgrade from MM too much? The rears will be almost an inch bigger than the fronts...too much rear brakes? Second Question- Can I use MM rear disc brackets with different rotors? (Most likely i wil need to know which calipers will be goin with it) Third question- 82-83 280zx disc conversion have problems? I hear that people have been running into some issues after the install was completed is this true? Would it be better to run the 79-81 280zx set-up instead and if so can MM brackets work with this? Forth qeustion- With around 450 bucks what would you do for the rear disc conversion? Thanks so much. Hybridz have really helped my project moved along with all the help and info. you guys are great. I would like my brake work to be done at the same time my car goes to the shop to simplify things a little.

Intake Manifold Help with a 280Z-Turbo
Midnight-280Z posted a topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well a little info about my car before i get to the question. I got a 1975 280Z with the 83 L28ET Engine and 5spd Tranny in my car. My upgrades consist of: HKS SSBOV (blow off valve), HKS manual boost controller, custom 2 1/2 in intercooler pipings with an intercooler of course, Custom cold air intake. Okay now on to the question.....I just got all the parts needed to upgrade my current 83 ecu to an 88-89 300zx turbo ecu. Now my question is...Can I use a N42 intake manifold (No EGR) with the ecu upgrade?? Also, i have searched and searched for fuel injector upgrades and came up with the 2g rx7 being the best in my situation (anyone know of any nissan injectors that will work? i prefer high impedence to go with the ecu). Once i get the ECU upgrade running correctly with the fuel upgrade (fuel pump, FPG, and Injectors) I really hope to get close to 300HP. Does anyone if this is possible with the stock turbo and internals or is time to upgrade? Please help....Thanks for all the help in advance.... -
i will post an update on my car i'll try and have before and after pics of everything. thanks for the help. i am really pysched out about everything thats coming in (MSA type 3 body kit). not to mention the rims to top everything off. Now all I need are Fender mirrors and my body will never be touched again until i do the ZG flares sometime in the future. thanks again for everyones help.
