  1. No one is still addressing my question, and it's not just looks and SUVs. Manufacturers continue to increase the diameter of wheels on performance vehicles. I did a search and found that a 2009 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano has 19" diameter wheels on the front and 20" diameter wheels on the back. This car is all about performance so if it would perform better with smaller diameter rims it would come with them from the factory. I'm also not talking about the aftermarket here which generally favors upgrading wheel sizes. Here's a site that talks about aftermarket reasons for getting 'plus fitments': http://www.toyo.com.au/tech_info8.htm

I think that as horsepower increases brake and wheel sizes can correspondingly increase as well. Since I probably have 3 or 4 times the horsepower my car had when it was stock, I think that running 18s isn't unreasonable. For those people that don't like it, I don't really care. I already have enough people that don't like that I have a Chevy V8 in my car - so get in the back of the line.

    ;)

Yeah, this car is all about performance. Thats why it weighs a full 1400lbs more than the F40 from over 20 years ago. Granted it has 150 more hp, a plush interior, more brakes and bigger wheels to slow all that mass down with. The point is every single new car has bigger wheels now, but they also weight substaintially more. It is just the natural evolution of the industry. Sure, the new Z has 18s or 19s. I don't see any of them getting down under 2000 lbs with out quite a budget though. It may be my personal rant, but I joined Hybridz and purchased my first Z because I don't want to push around 3000-3500 (or more) pounds of flashy wheels, plush interior, high power stereo, and multiple airbags! Even the 911, once the epitome of a stripped down sports car, has a ton of; unnecessary eloctronics, sound deadening, airbags, and cup holders. I'm not knocking anyone's automotive enthusiasm however it differs from my own. I have friends with 80hp minitrucks that run 20" wheels... thats fine, but if you like it only for the way it looks call it what it is. After all this is america where we drive our big fat a$$es around in our big fat cars/suv's and park them in front of our big fat houses. I'll keep my 10 pound 14's with 19 pound tires. Rant over.

  2. Trust me on this, we don't EVER want that thread started! Once you start THINKING about that, you start asking questions...

And that is dangerous! Right offhand, the first thing that comes to mind this year is '370Z Sport Package' :fmad:

Frankly, I'd much rather have the 370Z Sport Package than the 'deferred gratification promise' inherent in the....

    I'm stopping now...

    I'M STOPPING NOW!

QUIT MAKING ME THINK OF THIS! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

    :icon45:

Ah I can see it now. Our grandkids in school reading about how the last revolution stemmed from a bunch of guys with "beat up ole 70's sports cars" who where tired of being over taxed and under represented!

Now back to the parts thread (steps down from stump).

  3. Can you build a stroker for five grand, yes. Will it make and survive 250 whp for five grand, not likely. It's not imposible, I'm sure its been done. And if your as savy a junk yard searcher as your post sugests you are, go for it.

BTW the seach will be your friend. There is a ton of stroker and N/A information on this board. Look at BRAAP's head posts - that is where I suggest you start.

    Good Luck!

  4. Over the years there have been a handful of situations where I considered selling one or two of my Z's. She always helps me find another way to deal with it, and talks me out of the sale. Shes helped me; strip cars down, pull engines, clean and pack parts to sell, and even been on a few trips to the junk yard. She is a blessing and is so much more than I deserve. I finally made her a lady August 28th last year (after six years). Shes not going any where and neither is my 240z.

  5. My offer of a complete interior less; dash, console, seats, carpet, and tail light panel for $300 still stands. That means door panels, plastics, headliner for $300.. so, maybe negotiate with me and one of these guys who has the tail light panel and your done. Or I could refinish my tailight panel for $100 if you purchased everything else.

  6. I have 4 of them, ready to ship. Let me know and I'll get back to you tomorrow. PM's work best. Complete head - $225 shipping is usually around $60.

  7. If it is that short maybe you should look at the flowmaster "delta flow" or something similar. These things flow! They are short; mines about 8-9 in.. And are fairly cheap, especially if you can find one thats been crouding the shelf at a speed shop for 10 bucks like I did!

  8. We are currently testing 4 in mufflers on an 800hp srt-4. PM me if interested. Our 4in system with a muffler weighs substantially less than the factory exhaust with out a muffler (2.5 in). Shootme your demensions and I'll give you a price.

We will also be putting an s30 system together sometime.. if I ever get my car ready for it.

  9. I would reSEARCH if I were you. You may be setting yourself up for dissapointment. In other words; the 70-78z was neither a 280zx or a turbo. What you are looking for is likely the axles from a 81-83 280zxt, though they may have started the turbo in 1980, not too sure. But you do need to research your product further before you start posting.

    Good luck!
