  1. I have one I need to get rid of, but I can't bring myself to throw it in the dumpster. The floors, doors, and normal stuff is rusted, but some how the bat. tray and other parts are good. I'm not that far from you so let me know what you need and could offer and I'm sure we can work something out.

  2. I have a 357 Mag by my bed. I won't actually shoot anyone other than in self defense but they don't known that. If I shoot way above their heads, the worst that can happen to me is a fine for discharging a firearm in public.

I would think the worst thing that could happen would be when they turned around and shot you. Next worse would be doing five years for terroistic threats (felony). Third would be having them take the gun your afraid to use away from you and make you regret even having it. No offense dude, but if your gonna pull it out you should be ready to kill, not just put a round off in the air.

  3. Back ground; my dad had a bunch of '55 chevy's, even a '55 Studebaker pickup, so I grew up liking cars. When I was 16 everyone was building fast hondas, but I couldn't get into the front drive stuff. When I expressed those thoughts to a local speed shop opperater he said "Get a z car and put blown small block in it; it'll be cheap, handle well, and really really fast". Ten years later, after owning several z's, here I am building a 240 with a blown v8 (albeit not a small block). Life is funny. I can't wait to finish it, look him up and give him a ride as thanks for the inspiration.

I would also like to thank the members and administrators of this site because the wealth of accessable information is what led me to purchase my first z. A black 110k mile 280zx I picked up at age 20, rip.

  4. As stated above, vacuum leaks kill these things. If you want to switch to the later and better system please let me know (shameless self promotion). I battled with worn out diaphrams and dry rotted/missing vacuum lines a long time and a lot of money ago. Then made the switch.

  5. Thanks Roger,

If I was slow right now I would be working on the patterns here and there but honestly I'm slammed. I have 3 V8 manifold patterns to produce and It's looking pretty good that I'll be doing a bunch of the restoration of disneys main street railings.

Really the main thing that kept these from going to market was the fact that they worked right out of the box. If I would have had to re cast them I probably would have made the revisions to the patterns.

Just add me to the list of people who have tried to talk you into selling these and failed. I'm sure glad to read that you are busy; though.

  6. I have two sets of door to choose from, and two hatches. All parts are in very good condition since they've been stored indoors for quite some time. I will negotiate on the price if you are buying several parts and shipping won't be too bad from NE Georgia; especially if you can wait a few weeks. PM if interested and I'll email pics.

  7. Thanks.

The manifolds work great but in this economy the amount of investment vs return is too iffy right now. When consumer spending starts growing again I'll be considering it. The patterns and core boxes need a lot of work before they would be ready for even a limited production.

I would like to encourage you and say take the leap now. You have a real tallent and the time to gain market share is when the economy is beat up.. even if it costs you a little. Keep the faith and turn some parts out, it will be more than worth it when cosumer spending comes back up. If not I'd drop my stimulus $ for one of those sweet manifolds!

  8. I have a pretty complete 1983 280zx T-top black interior. Basically everything is there; however, you probably wouldn't want the dash or the tail light panel. I would let the whole thing go (less carpet, seats and above items) for $300 + shipping, some trades considered. I could also refinish the tail light panel for $150. Let me know.

    Thank you

  9. IMHO revs are much more dependent upon headflow/cam and overall recipricating mass/balance. Look at the honda family, almost entirely undersquare rev-happy engines with technically horible rod/stroke ratios:

    borexstroke rod/stroke

    f22c 87x90.7 1.65

    b18b 81x89 1.54

    b18c 81x87.9 1.58

    k20 86x86 1.62

    k24 87x99 1.34

All of these engines will rev high and make unbelieveable power once properly modified. I would say spend the money and time in your head and turbo, then stick the longest rod that will fit easily in there... for most engines it is counterproductive to engineer around rod length.

  10. I would shamelessly pich to you my stock 280 fuelly system; however, I doubt that it will run well with that cam. My sugestion would be either the tbi mentioned above or some sort of stand alone efi. But imho a set of well tuned stock su's would be better than that down draft 4 barrel. I do agree with searching more... that will give you the chance to form your own opinion instead of just taking the advice of others.

    Good Luck!

  11. I did everything JohnC stated above and changed the air box to a "cold air" type, installed a 60mm throtle body (and matched the intake mani), and removed ALL the options, shy of power windows. I also dropped tire size to a 205/60/14, down from 205/70 to optimize gearing; though it added some revs on the highway. My car flew for a na zx.. it surprised a whole lot of people, and would smoke your average ricer on the street!

I did have a pieced together exhaust too, but that might not be legal in cali. There is always the "test pipe" option though.

I hope this helps, good luck.
