  1. Today was my second time snowboarding and first time with the new board. the board felt good. My brother and I decide that for our second time snowboarding we should do the summit Run at snow summit. Even though I don't now how to snow board on my toes just did the falling leaf on my heels all the way down i believe is about 1,000 ft from the top of the mountain to the base. I might take a private lesson next time to learn the falling leaf but with my toes and learn how to do turns without losing to much speed.. An to start the day on my first run on the beginners lift my toe edge got caught on the icy snow and went flying falling flat on my face scratching my chin. But other than that it was a awsome day.

  2. I just picked up a M3 talon snowboard/morrow bindings/salomon boots.Just wanted to ask if there is any snowboards in this board that are familiar with this setup. I just started snowboarding and talking classes is this a good setup for a beginner. The board is 158cm long and im 5'8"tall 125lbs.

  3. I finished the 2 seat. I started to do the carpet this weekend its a pain in the ass. I cost $27 a yard and its pretty stiff so its going to be hard to take at little wrinkles on some spots. I doing the whole floor black carpet including the trans tunnel. Here are some pictures,also im still not done need to trim some the carpet sew some parts of it and glue it to the padding I should be done by the end of this weekend. I did it in six pieces everything will be sewn together. I still need to make a custom center console of modify the original.

  4. Its been a long 2 days of cuting fabric, foam and making patterns and sewing. I used 1/2 foam with backing, black vinyl with dot indents and some other type of fabric with a nice pattern. I did the center parts and headrest with fabric. and the rest of the seat with the vinyl. I don't want to be sliding around with the vinyl in the center also. I still need to do the bottom seats i just did the backs and headrest. I was a pain in the ass to sew the vinyl. These are z32 power seats. Here are some pictures

  5. I did double layers of RAAMmat on the floor today. I also started to install the carpet padding Im going to be using if the auto supplies store is open some padding with the double sides of aluminum. That is for the firewall padding. i stated to upholster the fender wells i cut the vinyl and added the foam and my dad did the sewing with a top stich on the band.

  6. I was in ensendad,Baja California today and my cousing told me a helicopter crashed.The helicopter crash during the 40th Baja 1000 race. It was covering the event. What I heard from my cousing Is that it was flying to close and it hit some power lines and crashed. Also that some narc got killed and they came to get that body from the ensenada morgue and they didn't give them the body. They left and came with about 50 narc guys and supposably stoled the body of the narc killing 2 of the officers of the morgue but they stoled the wrong body. We passed by the morgue earlier on saturday and there are police officers and a couple of mexican army soldiers in 2 humbies guarding the entrance. I think they also took some forensic scientist that work there.

     

  7. Regarding the rust on the arm its not done yet im going to paint them and going to buy bigger screws cause the ones i have are to short.I also receive the RAAMmat BXT I got 2 rolls of 60sq.ft. I just finished the other sunvisor i also finish sewing the rear wheel vinyl covers.

  8. I just finished upholstering one of the sunvisors on the 240z I decided to used some left over headliner since it has 1/4 foam backing.

    I used cardboard panel auto upholstery supplies stores have them. I cut 2 cardboard panels I used the sunvisor metal frame as a pattern. I upholster one of them with the sunvisor frame attached and the other panel I sew by hand. Here are the original pictures of the sunvisor and after pictures. headliner is black.

  9. I just purchase some 120 sq.ft of RAAMmat BXT for $237.01 total. Its a butyl base with asphalt for thickness. I was going to go with Fatmat extreme rattle trap which is cheaper thicker but it is asphalt base which i don't want the smell.. Im going to cover all of the inside of the car i want it as quite as possible. also i just got some carpet padding which is about 1/2 thick and some new auto carpet at $27.00 a yard it should be good. Since this is going to be a daily driver I want to be comfortable as possible. I also order a few weeks back ROSS 240z Aluminum Hubs with 0 offset with a custom chevy bolt pattern 5x4.75 i cant wait to receive them.

    S13 coilover installation

     

    A coil-over shock design is desirable primarily for adjusting ride height, using inexpensive standardized springs available in various rates, and having appropriate shock valving. As you may know, there are no direct-fit coilover kits currently available in the USA for the Z31 300ZX, apparently, because there simply is not enough perceived demand. JIC did make front coilovers, but they were hideously expensive and I have not found them available for some time. Over the last couple years, while scouting Japanese online auctions, I found a few sets of coilovers for the Z31, all of which appeared to be either custom jobs or off-the-shelf adaptations.

     

    Not that the 88SS springs and Tokico 5-way adjustable shocks I had in the car were that bad at all, in fact they were very good. Unfortunately, OEM-type high performance replacements can not provide the same performance as a much more sport-oriented and well designed coil-over setup, with emphasis being on well-designed. simply don't buy the crap and you won't get the crap. When looking for performance oriented suspension components, consider Ground Control, Tein, Tanabe, JIC and other popular name-brands for quality components. Remember "garbage in garbage out" ... "quality is as quality does".

    When I started my research into coilover setup, I figured I would end up doing something like Brian's idea (link). Also, I would recommend reading his page, as it covers basic coilover information that will not be covered here.

    Cost being the primary factor involved, things really changed when Kris-86T let people on Z31.com know that S13 coilovers could be adapted to the Z31. Keep in mind there are 295 kinds of coilovers for S13 240SX's some have the same dimensions as mine, some don't. I can't vouch for the fact that most of the setups are like the Tanabe's I bought, so do bear this in mind if you do decide to go this route for coilovers.

    You can compare and contrast the S13 and Z31 all day and all night. What it boils down to is the fact that S13's and Z31's are "close enough" overall to use units designed for the S13 on a Z31.

    I found a really inexpensive group-buy on zilvia.net for the Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Coilovers for the S13. and decided to go for it. This being a cheaper set, it did not include upper mounts. I scouted around and found some cheaper S13 camber plates on ebay, which ended up being TEIN pilo units. Now came the quest to actually figure out what needed to be done to install everything.

    Rear Coilover Conversion: I used the lower sleeves from a set of old Z31 OEM shocks (I believe all are the same), and stock Z31 NA rear upper mounts. The stock jounce "pad" is cut off allowing the remaining plate area for the upper spring seat to rest on and enough of a lip to keep the spring seat in place:

    A few washers were used to shim the damper rod "down" and get slightly more travel and ride height. Assembled picture:

    The bushings and sleeves removed from the bottom of the old shocks are bonded together. That is, the rubber bushing has to be cut away from the outside of the sleeve. I cut the majority of the rubber off using a hack saw, and then a bench grinder to smooth it out leaving just enough rubber to provide a snug fit into the inside of the lower bushing on the S13 coilover. With the rears installed and adjusted all the way up, the car sits roughly an inch lower than stock:

    Some people have said that this rear location was not designed to support the weight of the car. I initially agreed, but upon closer inspection determined a few things: The stock jounce bumper is on the damper, and jounce bumpers are designed to handle at the very least the car's weight times gravity (M*G) in force (N) when the car bottoms out hard.

    The stock sheet metal thickness in this area is equal on the rear and front damper mounting locations.

    The Infiniti M30, which essentially uses a slightly revised version of the Z31 suspension, uses the same location for spring and shcok mounting, and has a similar rear shock tower design. Pic.

    Front Coilover Conversion: I used 87-89 strut tubes after determining that S13/S14 front spindles would fit the lower ball Joint and tie rod, but would alter suspension geometry and wheel placement if used on a Z31. In addition, 5-lug front hubs are expensive for S13 and 4-lug S14 cars. This route seemed entirely too complicated and expensive, so I stuck with something reasonable. In a sense, the new dampers were installed "into" stock strut housings.

    The housings or "tubes" as they are usually called, were cut off about 2 1/8" just above where they enter the spindle assembly:

    The lower part of the "tube" is expanded, but the pipe expander used could not go more than 2" or so into the pipe. Most explanders are like this, because they are only designed to flare a pipe to fit over another pipe. I did not want to weld the pipe to the actual outer tube of the damper, so another section of the strut tube was cut off. and expanded, welded onto the first part and then the coilover shock was inserted, lined up with the lower part of the bracket and slowly welded to the strut tube. That's the reason you see two welds here. Had the expander been able to reach farther into the pipe, it would not have been necessary. The strut tubes are THICK! At least 1/4" steel; tough stuff:

    Completed setup, quickly painted with Rust-Olium for that long lasting shine. For comparison, on the right is a stock strut with ST spring and Tokico Illumina damper:

    One of the upper mount holes on each side had to be slotted for S13 camber plate fitment. Otherwise, they fit and function perfectly:

    With the spring perch adjusted all the way up and the damper positioned as low as it can go in the expanded strut tube, the ride height is under 1/2" below stock. With my wheels, which are pretty close to the stock strut tubes to begin with, I can't drop the car more than 1.5" below stock without very slight rubbing between the tire and the lower spring seat. I think a small (3mm) wheel spacer will fix the problem. Keep in mind these are 87-89 strut tubes, so the problem could be worse with 84-86 units. I'm sure stock wheels or something with a slightly larger backspacing than mine (lower offset) would have no clearance issues. I don't think I have too much of a reason to lower the car more than 1.5" besides occasional autocross and track events.

    Impressions:

    This project turned out to be a complete success for me. The car handles better than it ever has, and ride quality is hardly (if any) worse than the former configuration. Ride height and camber are now adjustable, and now there is acceptable spring rate and damping force for track use. Front camber is adjustable from slightly positive to negative ~3 degrees (eye balling it). I set it at about -1 degree for daily driving. There is very slightly more vibration noise in the car from the front suspension, which is to be expected with pillow-ball upper mounts. When you consider the price of a set of ST or 88SS springs ($200) and good shocks ($400+), anyone can see why this is such a good deal! I can only kick myself for having spent the money on other kinds of springs and shocks before finally deciding to go this route.

    Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Coilover kit: $650 shipped, new.

    TEIN camber plates: $160 shipped, new.

    Welding: $50 cash.

    88T struts: Free from parts car, used.

    Z31 NA rear upper mounts: Free from parts car, used.

    LOS ANGELES—If Saturday's ‘live’ drawing for starting positions is any indication, November's 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race should be one for the ages. Garron Cadiente in SCORE Trophy-Truck and Richard Lancaster in Class 22 for open motorcycles drew the pole positions for the legendary granddaddy of all desert races. This year’s odyssey of nearly 1,300 miles will be a grueling and memorable adventure down Mexico’s mysterious Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Sur. It will be held Nov. 10-16.

     

    An amazing total of 326 vehicles officially entered in time for Saturday’s live drawing for starting positions, by class, held during the RACEfest at the Lake Elsinore (Calif.) Hotel/Casino and presented by the Cameron Steele’s Desert Assassins race team.

     

    This year’s memorable adventure will cover nearly 1,300 miles of the rugged and tortuous Baja California peninsula, starting on the Pacific Ocean side and stretching across and down the majestic peninsula to the Sea of Cortez side, back to the Pacific before winding down to the finish line on the southernmost tip of Baja.

     

    Over 400 entries from 40 U.S. States and 15 countries, competing in 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs will be part of this year’s 40th anniversary tribute to the world’s richest and most famous desert race. The granddaddy of all desert races is the season-finale of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series, the world’s foremost desert racing series.

     

    “The Lake Elsinore Hotel/Casino and the Desert Assassins race team hosted a great event to honor our drawing for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000,†said Sal Fish, SCORE CEO and President. “The place was packed and there was still plenty of food and refreshments to go around. It was a tremendous start for what promises to be another memorable chapter in the history of the world’s greatest desert race.â€

     

    With massive crowds reaching over 300,000 anticipated to again be spread out along the point-to-point race course, the race will start for the 33rd time in Ensenada and will finish for only the second time in Cabo San Lucas.

     

    The motorcycle and ATV classes will start their journey at 6:30 a.m. (Tuesday, Nov. 13) with the car and truck classes starting at approximately 10:30 a.m., or three hours after the last ATV leaves the line. The starting line will be on Blvd. Costero in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. Vehicles will leave in 30-second intervals in the elapsed-time race and while the fastest finishers are expected to complete the course in approximately 22 hours.

     

    The finish line area in Cabo San Lucas will be inside the Campos de Futbol “Yenecamu†soccer fields next to the Villa del Palmar Resort, the official SCORE race headquarters. The SCORE Media Center and SCORE Race Operations will both be located at the Villa del Palmar. Passing times from all BFG Tires pit locations, of all vehicles, will be posted there as well to assist in monitoring the race progress.

     

    Cadiente, 31, of Mesa, Ariz., was the 2006 SCORE Rookie of the year and is third in this year’s SCORE Trophy-Truck season point standings after winning the recent SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 in the No. 38 G&R Racing Ford F-150. The drawing featured 32 entries in the SCORE Trophy-Truck, the marquee SCORE racing division for high-tech, 800-horsepower, unlimited production trucks.

     

    Lancaster, 29, Santa Margarita, Calif., will lead 22 entries (to date) in Class 22 for open motorcycles on the No. 2x Honda XR650R. His additional riders are Peter Hardy, Pozo, Calif., John Kaisersatt, Los Osos, Calif., Fred Jowett, Atascadero, Calif., and Chris Whalley, Topanga, Calif.

     

    Drawing the first start in the ATV classes was the championship team led by Danny Prather, 27, Ramona, Calif., who will ride the No. 1a American Honda factory Honda TRX450R in Class 25. His teammates are Mike Cafro, Bonsall, Calif., Levi Marana, Ramona, Calif., and Marc Speath, Warner Springs, Calif.

     

    NASCAR Nextel Cup team owner/driver Robby Gordon, Charlotte, N.C., whose roots are in SCORE desert racing, drew the fourth starting position in SCORE Trophy-Truck in the Team Gordon No. 71 Chevy CK1500. Gordon, , will again pull double-duty, driving the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 before flying to Homestead, Fla., to race in the NASCAR Nextel Cup season finale.

     

    Among the other cross-over racers who are entered so far include World Rally champion Armin Schwarz, former IndyCar star Danny Sullivan and actor/racer Patrick Dempsey, star of the ABC TV hit show ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’

     

    Pre-race festivities on Monday, Nov. 12, for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, including tech and contingency and the SCORE Manufacturer’s Midway will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. adjacent the San Nicolas Hotel, the official SCORE race headquarters in Ensenada. The pre-race mandatory driver/rider briefing will be held Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center. Racer registration will be held at the San Nicolas from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12.

     

    While entries will be accepted up to race morning (Nov. 13), late entries will be assigned the next available number and starting position within each class.

     

    The post-race Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Survivor’s Celebration will be held during the SCORE Fiesta in at the Playa Cascadas (adjacent to the Villa del Palmar) at noon on Friday, Nov. 16.

     

    Besides the Cadiente and Gordon, other entries in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck division include Las Vegas brothers Tim and Ed Herbst (No. 19-Ford F-150), B.J.   13. I make under 30K i think around $25,000. The thing that helps me alot is that i still live with my parents which i pay $500 in rent month. An my I work for my dad upholstery business. I get my check and some extra money on the side so i won't pay t@x3s or go over my t@x bracket. Also we just started this business about 3 years ago. Most of the stuff we upholster is for rich people with money to spend. The taxes my dad pays is crazy. Its a big suprise when you have to pay taxes for the stuff you sell, pay taxes for the employees and pay workers comp.

    Most of the money i make goes to the 240z car cant wait to finish this project.
