in my case and i'm sure many others aswell is always the $$$$$$$. to get the power from an inline six that will compete with a nice v8 your looking at some serious dough. as stated earlier crate motors are getting cheaper all the time and are coming with warranties. that is hard to over look for me. i'll give the guys who run the high hp 6s the credit thats due, but at what cost did it come at. for under 3000 beans you can have a pretty nasty motor for the light weight z's. what i mean by that is in a 2500lb z 300hp is equal to 400+ in a camaro or muskrat. the v8 engines are cheap, easily modified, and have great parts avalibility. cost to repair them is usually cheaper aswell. for a drive train swap into a z just about any american full size truck or car is a potential sorce. your talking about millions of vehicles right there. thats just my opinion about it though

i have a ton of ?s about this one. i would love to talk to you sometime about it. in the last three months i've past on 3 of them for under 2500. email me please.

a better intake would surely help. i'd also consider a better exhaust if yours isn't up to the job. you may even want to go up on your carb size. on desktop dyno with a better intake and exaust it put on 50+ more hp. these two things could be had fairly cheap aswell.

if it for an ls1 it will have a different bell housing than the one for the regular small block. i don't know if you can swap out the bellhousing or if there is an adapter for it. sorry to break the news

this is a question for the guys running feul cells inside their hatch. do you have any problems with the fumes inside the car. i was wanting to put one inside my car when i get one and was wondering about this.

it may just be me but that looks similar to what terry o's car looks like. with a little work i think you could adapt some headlights to it. whether you used retractable light like those from a miata. or some like the ones on a new vw bug, porche boxter, or 2002 thunderbird. with some work i think you could mold them into the front fender area nicely

don't get very many sktlines here stateside. i think some of the westcoast guys may know a little more.intresting idea though. if you find out something on it please post it b/c i know i'd sure be intrested in it.

biohzrd replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
try jtr. just kidding. www.jagsthatrun.com. thats their sight. -
you might try looking in a kit car mag. i know i've seen ads in there abuot companies that use a 9" chunk and make the rest of it independent. just a thought

believe it or not it really isn't that hard to get as much as much as 400 hp out of a 350 with the stock bottom end and hyper. pistons. piont in case edelbrock performer rpm kit.the stock rods and crank should have no problems at that level as long as you put it together right and can drive it without putting your foot in it at every redlight(by the way this is very hard to do. TRUST ME).a set of descent heads with a gasket match can be had for about 350 bucks complete with guide plates, screw in studs, and 2.02/1.60 valves. as long as you don't spray the motor and set it up right it should last a pretty good time aswell.

just thought it would be intresting to see how much horsepower people are packing into these little land rockets?
-
would that be the front and back sets or just one of the two? also are you going to be producing the or is this a one time thing?
-
aaawwwwww if aluminium is strong enough for a piston or rod the i think it should hold well enough for this. i've seen it used for things that you would have never believed it would have been strong enough for ( boing 747 , triton missles , engine heads ect...). i look at it like this. it saves you a lot of weight. always a bonus. the price does seem a bit high for something that takes about 10 to 15 minuites to produce on a cnc machine

i'd sure like to find out. i'd also like to find out if anyone could or does make a front like that. the car has a nice clean look to it. the ONLY things i don't like about it is that it has a ford motor in it( not a biggy though) and that i think the wheel openings need to be opened up a tad bit more. still a n awesome car though

in my high school days i would work at a radiator shop in the summer. what we would do is go to home depot and buy about 3 or 4 gallons of muratic acid (i think thats how you spell it). 1: drain your tank 2: pour in about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons and let it sit for about 3 to 4 hours. 3: put some sort of plug or cap in the holes on the other side and just turn it over for the same amount of time. 4: pull one of your plugs and put in a high tech abrasive material aka: gravel,& slosh it around. 5: drian out all of the acid, rust, and gravel. 6: buy a friend with a pressure wash a 6 pack and proceed to spray it out for a while 7: make sure to dry it out very good " compressed air works good here but anything i guess will work". 8: put everything back together and say to yourself " why didn't i just buy a new one" it is really not that hard of a process but just please make sure you have good ventilation when dealling with the acid. it will knock you out if you don't. i know the guy who owns the old radiator shop i worked at would kill me for giving out the "secret"

on a street vehicle it is considered illegal.i know here in louisiana if you are found with it you are automatically given a ticket for whatever reason they want. i've heard everything from an exhibition of speed to unlawful vehicle equipment "whatever that one is". i guess it all comes down to how well you hide it or if the popo that stops you is really that much of a prick. i know in past cars i've set up with it, i hide it. less of a reason to draw undo attention to yourself, plus it makes you that much more of a sleeper. i look at it as a challenege. if i can hide it to were someone who works on cars a lot can't spot it, all the better. besides why advertise what i've got.

the guy who built it sure did put in the wrench time. who ever it is has surely worked on a z before to make it come out that clean

i'm not as good with the stock head issue as others but i believe that they are similar to the double humps. i know that they are open chamber heads and could have come with either 2.02 / 1.60 or 1.94 / 1.54 valves. they don't flow as well as the double humps but with porting can be made to put out around 400 to 450 hp. they do have bolt holes in the frount for your acc. i have them on my 406ci and i'm getting 459 hp and 483 lbtq on the dyno. they can be good. i've got tons of porting work into mine though. i think grumpyvette would be better to ask then me though.

that is one of all around cleanest looking z's i've seen. i would love to find those flares and air dam. a lot of time went into that ride. does anyone know if that guy s a member of this board?
-
holley blue with regulator. seems to work pretty good for my motor. had the red aand it could not get enough fuel to the carb at full throttle.
-
look at this car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=600493058 i love the way this car looks. were can you get flares and an air dam like that. thae stance and look of that car just screams" wanna play rice boy"
-
he should answer it. i can't tell you when though. he does get a lot of e-mails. if he doesn't just send it to me and i'll forward it.
-
i kinda like the kit, but i agree with you about the air dam. it looks like you could probly cut it and pull it back by cutting it off at the seam and cutting the wheel side. then all yould have to do would be glass it back together witch i don't think would be that hard. someone with photoshop could probly do it to see what it would look like.

i guess the only way to know for sure would be to ask the owner. i do like the way he mixed the modern lights but kept the stock appearence.
