  1. im saving the pic.. and if one gets made like what i requested in my previous post... im saving it... will be my inspirational photoshop lol... only im going to have 17" stock chrome lincoln LS rims via my sister that just got 20"s put on her lincoln lol. once i get the car running.. and get to the point of making it look good.... im going to REALLY give this a shot... i believe it can be done with very little problem.... but this is a datsun we're talking about.... lol little or no problem? i dont think so... *edit* and you're right steeltoad... with those mods it KIND OF looks like one of those futuristic concept cars... i'd buy one also *edit 2* and mine would have to have around a 4" cowl scoop on it.. that would prob look pretty mean.. plus its a must to clear my air cleaner
  2. a raked roofline like boodlefoof has would possibly look really good also... lol the mutant hybrid zx! i like it both with and without the vent.. if you are going for a more shaved sleek look w/o the vent is the way to go. w/imsa squared fender flares... the vent would probably be more trouble to mold in than anything.. but w/o the flares... i think it adds something to look at that catches your attention.
  3. LOL i LOVE it guys... anyway you can add some IMSA Square type fender flares?... if SO this is MY DREAM ZX! cant believe how you captured it so well... 'sniff 'sniff emotional moment... sorry. OH OH and what about a blue color... maybe electric daytona blue with some gunmetal metal flakes... now THAT is my dream ZX
  4. thanks for the info.. im just wanting info... lol want to ride on the engine i JUST built for a while.. havent even got to drive IT yet.. but if i'd known all this i DEFINATLY would have got some forged pistons..may be in the near future when i get more power hungry know the thrill of new speed doesnt last long.
  5. i need a zx front bumper and air dam. i didnt see a want ads section. i bought the car w/o one and was going to just buy a fiberglass one... stock or fiberglass is fine just wanting to know if anyone has one they are willing to part with fairly cheap.. trying to get road legal for sez lol
  6. i agree it looks better filled in... maybe a vent or SMALLER window.. like what has been posted.. just i think i'd try and find dif shaped ones or something... and instead of making that filled in area flad i thinkd i'd make it flare out a little looks pretty good modified though
  7. i've got flat top kb's with stock chevy heads... no idea what the compression ratio is... would i have to look at the casting number of the head to find the CC.. then be able to determine the CR?

  10. son of a !!!! lol.. when i had my exhaust manifolds turned upside down everyone thought i was stupid... never thought of mounting turbos to it... my first time seeing this didnt know silicone boy had a write up on it... makes me wish i HADNT got the keith black's now... you guys think they'd hold up with kinda low boost?
  11. you're really right michael... i contacted the closest member of hybridz ryan (rytherwr) he was going to come help me today but i didnt contact him in time.. he's going to come sometime within the next 2 weeks to try and help me finish up the car.. great people here on this forum.. dont know this guy from any other person on the street but he's willing to bust some knuckles to help get the car to SEZ. get the engine broke in and all i have left is finding a front bumper (PLEASE if anyone has one that they replaced for a fiberglass or carbon one PM me and ill buy the stock unit if the price is right -ZX front bumper-), shifter (thought i had bought one w/tax money but i didnt.. lol ordered so many parts forgot it), driveshaft cut (only costing 45 bucks) and just weld up some of my emblems and marker holes... dont care if the car isnt PERFECT... long as its there lol

  13. i asked this same question a while back about my 83 zx. if you can get a rollcage in and mount a seat or actually mount the car seat with the backrest supported by the cross member on the rollcage.. it would be safe in my opinion. i would DEFINATLY invest in plexiglass or some other synthetic glass for the hatch though. i feel pretty confident with the z and my 1 1/2 yr old in it once i get it running. dont have the rollcage in yet but it will eventually be in. thats just my 2 cents though.
  14. the carb was a reman. one from a ebay dealer in AZ that sells rebuilt carbs. they are said to have been tested (i bought this a YEAR ago so i HOPE not being on an engine in a year hasnt dried it up inside) and if they aren't running right then you arent doing something right is their claim. im tempted to just buy an edelbrock and throw on it... i've had so many people tell me holley's are REALLY picky carbs.. better carbs.. just REALLY picky.. i still have to check the float levels like what was suggested i've been pretty busy lately.. once i do that i'll post my findings.. thanks for helping out on this problem guys.

I'm in the industrial hvac field for a division of Lenoxx International. build large air cooled condensors but i just got promoted (guess you'd call it lol just means more work) to a new job Utility Pool. fill in for anyone in the plant that is out because i pretty much know everything.. they say i've learned more in 5 years than people thats been with the plant 20+ years lol.. its not the BEST job.. but i learned some cool stuff like wiring and brazing and just general assembly.. guess the thing i learned that has been the most helpful is thinking on my toes.. learning to adapt to changes and i guess just alot of common sense (if you are one to believe that you can learn common sense lol)
  16. well she said she just needs a little time to get her head together.. she DOES want me to finish the car.. she said work and everything just stressed her out too much.. she spent the nite w/me for v-day which was nice.. guess we both might need a little time to think about stuff and maybe i need time to work on the car too.. finish it up since im so close.. just gotta work out a few bugs so i can get the engine broke in. so atleast shes comin back.. lol makes me feel a little better.. and she said if the car is running we're gonna go to SEZ. hope to see you guys there.
  17. i didnt check the fuel level yet.. i fired it up today it acts like its not getting enough gas... but i move the fuel pressure reg. screw it acts like the fuel pressure isnt moving.. (hard to tell by myself) but it STINKS of flooded fuel... smokes pretty bad too and if i dont keep on the throttle a little it wants to die. so its weird lol.. maybe a float IS stuck and just dumping fuel... that could be why im not getting a PSI reading for the fuel also?? im going to check the levels per your info tomorrow.. thanks for the help.
  18. i got your PM.. i'd suggest you buy the JTR book.. dont know if they have one for the ZX yet but the one for the z's is helpful still.. http://www.jagsthatrun.com they have radiator... mounts... alot of things you will need. as far as wiring.. find a wire that is hot when your key switch is on.. splice into it.. (thick gauge wire that is hot w/ignition on) belive i used white/black stripe wire.. that goes to distributor. fuel pump is wired to a pressure switch for a 78-80? dodge omni or a chevrolet monza... if you go to the auto parts and say you need a 3 prong oil pressure switch they can hook you up. try to get 1/8 thread as you will have to add 1/8 adapters and T so you can use the oil pressure sending unit and the oil pressure switch. splice into (mine is a green and i think black stripped wire) the fuel pump wire and put both ends going to the oil pressure switch.. the prongs that are opposite of each other far as alternator i have no idea.. used a one wire alternator.. any more info feel free to ask.
  19. lol its funny one of the few times i did that (this morning) and this happens.. just tryin to keep my mind off it... maybe she just feels like she needs a break.. hell... maybe i do too. dont feel like workin on the car tho... so i dont think anything will get done to it for a while... life is like a Z or ZX... throws ya sh** you never expected.
  20. i know no one really wants to hear my personal problems... but some of you who are into cars may have the same problem im facing today or you may eventually have it! my fiance and i get along ok.. we have our days as every couple does where we argue a little.. im the type person put it behind me the next day start out new... in short... she is not. we have a 1 1/2 yr old son that means the world to me.. he loves losing my tools and beating up the side of the zx with wrenches thinking he's helping daddy out. he's just... perfect. the past couple weeks my fiance has been in the worse mood. we got taxes back.. she told me GET THE Zx RUNNING for SEZ. i've been trying.. but then i get chewed out for spending time on the car... its a losing battle.. this morning she dropped me off at work and had some smart comment... i just got out the truck.. didnt tell her or my son goodbye. well i tried to call her all day at work.. no answer. tried to call her at home.. no answer.. i go outside at 2:30 for her to pick me up.. shes not there but my truck is. EMPTY at that.. no her.. no baby.. no car seat. i knew what the deal was.. get home.. only a few clothes are gone but everything else is still here. no note, nothing. the FREAKIN DAY BEFORE VALENTINES DAY!! it hurts bad... im ALWAYS with my son.. 2:30 till bedtime. she gets here at his bedtime.. and she just took him w/o a word.. sure she may be planning on coming back but.. what the hell... thats my kid she has and in my mind THATS KIDNAPPING i dont even know where she has him. i cant help to think that my Zx project somehow had something to do with today and if she does come back and we get back together.. i just dont know about the zx anymore.... and i dont know why but it makes me feel a little better to just write all this crap on here... sorry for the post guys. just dont know what else to do...
  21. as a matter of fact no... lol i have a ground to my tranny/engine bolt that goes to my fenderwell near the battery.. would it really make that much of a difference? i didnt know. forgot about it in the rush to get the car running.

  24. it did backfire once, and blew gas out the top of the carb across my shop... ANOTHER thing that could be wrong that is kinda.. daa is that my battery is dead and im trying to jump the engine off... not a good idea and im going to get the battery fully charged today. i checked plug wires... correct order. the engine specs are as follows stock chevy heads w/over sized valves 2.02 intake 1.8 exh comp cam cant remember exact specs but its around .510 lift 2600 stall converter keith black hyper pistons holley dp 750 carb edelbrock performer intake lol its getting aggravating... cant get the thing running long enough to break in...
