  1. o well Your soul is worth £7327. For your peace of mind, 87% of people have a purer soul than you
  2. I can picture it......lowered, 17" wheels,....sr20det....oh-my-god! I LOVE the sloping back look! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6056&item=2437306545&sspagename=rvi%3A1%3A2
  3. Alan, the main thing is knowing where the engine came from, and what design it is. My main concern is rebuilding it. My second concern is hooping up the internals for a little more power. I need to know what engine this is, hehehe. Im not sure if it was shared with Kaiser. I searched online and nothing is clicking in my head. Nothing looks alike.
  4. Hey Alan, YES! i would love more info on this engine. I called Pierre Z today, and spoke to Pierre. He was speaking to his mechanic and he said that Nissan shared that engine with Kaiser. Wooohooo every bit of info helps.
  5. Since im buying a rare Datsun/Nissan V8, i decided id scan my all time favorite article from an old Z Car Magazine issue, summer of '97. Bob Sharp/Paul Newman's 900hp+ Twin Turbo V8 280zx race car. Here is the entire article. Please enjoy, and feel free to save all the scans. http://got-z.com/articles/paulnewmanv8280zx.htm
  6. Im thinking if it is some kind of Detriot design, im going to find some fuel injection that i can run on top of this engine, find some headers, and open her up some!
  7. So little on this engine. Its probably some other make, and all the info in the world is right under my nose
  8. I cannot get over the lack of information i get when i search the entire net for this engine. All i know is that its a 3988cc 195hp V8. Some people i talk to tell me it looks JUST like a Ford engine, and others tell me im a fool for listening to them. All the helpful info i could find on the 'net is this: "NISSAN PRESIDENT 1965 - 1973 The President is HUGE by Japanese standards. A luxury car fitted with features that would put many modern luxury cars to shame. The Presidents I've seen have twin air conditioners, one for the front passengers and another for the back. They have power windows, electrically operated quarter glass windows, power seats, front and back radios, leather seats, and heaps of other amazing things. It was powered by a 3988cc 195hp V8 Y40 series engine." I know what the car looks like, all im interested in is the engine. Im picking it up this weekend, and i dont wanna get into removing the heads if i cant find a proper gasket set. Is this a ford/chevy design engine?
  9. I love a fresh start. Its comforting to know that you are in control and everything you put in the car is done by you. I like the feeling of ripping out old wires and rewiring. When i go to the dollar store, i get giddy when i see zip ties, electrical tape, and connectors. I always seem to buy about $20 worth of that stuff everytime i go to that store! Keep it simple, organize cleanly, and take your time, it will come out beautiful.
  10. Target trip days are Friday morning leave here, Saturday Morning leave there......or Monday morning leave here, Tuesday morning leave there. The gentleman isnt available Sunday because he is going to some auto parts swap meet in San Leandro? Maybe i can leave saturday morning, get there, pick up the engine, and then leave there Sunday morning, giving me time to meet up with everybody for dinner Saturday night?
  11. Yeah im going up sometime maybe this weekend or early next week. I alread spoke to the guy. He said it was on ebay once before and sold for $350, but the guy never showed up at his house when he said he would. Im driving from LA, ive never been up north before, should be a cool time for my buddy and I.
  12. Im coming up there to retrieve an engine. Any of the hybrid z guys wanna hook up for lunch, or dinner? Possibly sometime next week, or maybe this weekend even.
  13. Whoops, clicked the buy it now button, MY BAD lol. Looks like a trip to Frisco is in order maybe this weekend. Time to make a post to see who i can meet while im up there.
  14. You guys think it will go for more than $300?
  15. The pump will be my next project i suppose
  16. You are right, but thats with the little tiny stock spring. If we were able to find the perfect spring to fit in there, and make sure its a nice stiff spring, then maybe if the HLA decides to wear out and bleed down, it wont have such as an effect as a collapsed lifter. It cant hurt with rocker arm to cam contact either
  17. HLA with stiffer spring would probably keep those rocker arms in contact with the cam at high rpms. I went to the industrial supply warehouse a few hours ago. I was playing with all kinds of springs. They were all too long, but i was able to come out of there with what seems like the perfect spring. 2134 x .047 or 850 x 1.194 Those are what was on the bag, make what you can of them. They are only the width and thickness of the spring, not the length.
  18. No more bleeding down if we get stiffer springs for the HLA's. The piston in the HLA can only go down so far with a stiffer spring.

  20. Going to an industrial hardware store tommorow to find some springs. I dont see how it would hurt anything to add a little stiffer spring. If anything, its just securing the rocker arm to the lobe.
  21. Radiator 1-2-3-4-5-6 Firewall Firing order 1-5-3-6-2-4 Counter clockwise on distributor.
  22. I searched the internet for 20 minutes, and i couldnt find one peice of helpful info. How does CA work when it comes to smog exempt vehicles? Is it 25 years and older cars? Will my 79 be smog exempt in 3 years? Or is there a set year, and it stays at that year no matter how much time goes by?
