  5. me too. the previous owner of my zx blacked out the stainless strips. I need to re-apply paint, as its looking real bad with scratches and dings.
  6. I would like to see what they had to do to the underneath of the car to get all that to fit.
  7. well that was nice of you to post the username and password to his ftp server You did not just beat that big ol bad muscle car!
  8. The z31 suspension is different from the 280zx, please dont kid yourself. The z31 has a spring sandwiched between the body and the control arm, and a shock near the outer part of the control arm. Its like the front suspension of old American cars. The 280zx has spring over shock. Its a complete different setup guys.
  9. Im picking up info here and there, and it seems like Kaiser or Packard were having their engines built in Japan and shipped over to the US. Nissan used the engine they were sending in the President. "January 9 1958 Japanese Cars Arrive in California The Toyota and Datsun (later Nissan) brand names made their first appearances in the United States at the Imported Motor Car Show in Los Angeles, California. Previously, these auto makers had sold in the U.S. only under American brand names, as part of joint ventures with Ford and GM." If this is true, then it will be easy to find parts to rebuild this engine. I need to put it in the back of the truck, and drive around to local v8 gearhead shops and ask questions.
  10. I scanned these last week. http://got-z.com/articles/paulnewmanv8280zx.htm
  11. My zx started dying on the freeway and rolling for 5-10 seconds also. I would step on the gas and you could hear nothing but the pistons sucking air through the intake. I havent fixed the problem yet.
  12. Alan T., Have you obtained any info on parts for this engine?
  13. I used a product called TR-3 and it did the job once i broke out the buffer.
  14. We took the 98 Plymouth Voyager. It was a smooth comfortable ride. I did enjoy the 8 hours there, and 8 hours back drive through nothing. $85 on gas from my door, back to my door.

  16. ALso, check out this TRICK custom tranny bellhousing. The previous owner before the guy i bought it from cut the president V8 tranny bellhousing in half, and then cut a Nissan Z bellhousing in half, and welded the Z half to the president half. Look at the welds. I can now slip off a 5 speed bellhousing, slip on the custom bellhousing, and bolt a 5 speed right up to the V8. Pretty cool huh?
  17. I got my Nissan V8. Pam and I left Saturday morning and headed up to San Francisco 400 miles away. It was a long ass drive, but it was very realxing to look out your window and see nothing for miles. I live in the city, so seeing all that space was like trying to imagine the universe before the big bang. It took us 6 hours of driving, and an added 2 hours for refueling, food, potty, etc....for an added 8 hours of driving going 70mph average. Got to San Leandro about 5pm. I went straight to the hardware store to pickup a pallet and a strap for the engine, then went over to pick her up. When we got to the house, i saw her on the side of the house. I ran over to it and started examining. Cool ass engine!!!! Handed $300 over to the guy, loaded it up, and hit the little hwy to Frisco! Ive never been to Frisco before. As soon as we got there, after going over a 4 mile long bridge, i realized Los Angeles is a country town compared to Frisco. We went down to Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, The Embarcadero, etc etc etc. We went back to San Leandro after driving and walking around for 3 hours and got a hotel room. We woke up Sunday morning and went back over to the city. We drove over the Golden Gate bridge and back, drove around downtown a lot, and checked out the scenes. We then headed out for hom, which was 7 hours away. We left at 3pm, got home at midnight/this morning. San Fransisco is an amazing city! We are going back for vacation for a week next year. Wait, where are the pictures of the engine you ask? And a few of my favorite pics from the trip.
  18. Im coming up to San Leandro to pick up an engine. We are leaving at 6-7am. We should be there by noon, or early afternoon. I would like to pick up my engine, and then meet up with anyone who wants to have a pizza or something. I might drive over the the city and check it out. Ive never been up there. My lady and i are getting a cheap room for the night, and heading out Sunday morning. I wish we could stay longer to check out the area, but we gotta get back to LA. My cell is 626-488-8016, call me anytime after 8am.
  19. Wondeful, and thats all natural talent, no lessons!!!

  21. My buddy and I are coming up early Saturday morning, hopefully be there by early afternoon. I want to pick up my motor, and then have dinner with the guys. Stocking up the Ford Econoline. Bring a TV, cooler full of stuff, power invertor, the works. We gotta leave late Saturday night, or early Sunday morning, so not too much horsing around, ok guys? 8)
