  1. Does anyone have this picture available or can describe me which way you should put the chopper wheel? I have chopper wheel from z31 which has two holes in middle. Should I put the second hole to the right side or the left? The other one clerly goes to the clip...?
  2. My 3speed automatic transmission started to leak and took propeller shaft to see what's going on. I found out that rear seal was in pieces, but the didn't harm the rear part of gearbox(new seal is going to be tight). I was trying to figure out what caused that and noticed that the axle which is inside tha gearbox is very loose. Should it be like this or should it be tighter? Is there a bearing which holds the axle steady?

  4. I'm building a turbo conversion to my f54/p90 na engine(euro engine) and at the time I don't have any ECU or wiring harness for it. I'm thinking of putting 300zx ecu to my setup, but I was just wondering which would be easier to install to my car, 300zx ecu with my 300zx wiring harness only or the 280zxt+300zx wiring harness and 300zx ecu? Now I have L26 with carbs under the hood.
  5. Sorry frank, I misunderstood your comment totally wrong. I'm so sorry about it. As I now read the post again, it came very clear what you meant to me. Sorry, my english isn't the best of all and understanding of it, as it seems, isn't much better either. My apologies. I looked through the spark plug holes and the pistons looked like flat-tops pistons to me. They maybe can be domed, but certainly those aren't dished pistons. I'll try post pictures from the valve cover and engine, so your comment isn't based on my poor descriptions.
  6. Well, I started this thread just to make sure that I really have what I have been told. I presumed that US and Europe markets had the same engine variations. But now looks like that it isn't so. Im not sure why you posted this, but I just posted to get information on euro-engine. You are right that in Finland we don't have these cars so many and the information isn't available so easily. My engine has almost the same kind of valve cover that my L26 has. I think that your way of comment is unnecessary.
  7. I admit that I didn't remember that L-series engines were used in many different models, which Nissan made. But I still think that US markets meant more to Nissan that the markets in Europe. When s30 and s130 came US car markets were growing faster than in Europe and also with s30 Nissan got bigger pieces, so I think they focused to the USA markets. Alan, you are absolutely right that their domestic markets are far more important that any other. Maybe this sounds strange to you, but do you know why L28E later euro-version had P90 head and it wasn't turbocharged? I still think that two engines which we have here are original engines with turbo head. I would be also interested if you, alan or anybody else has more information about the euro-version's of s30 and s130.
  8. I wouldn't think that USA is far more superior than europe, but I think that main conseration was on USA markets and that's why there are different engine setup on europe. Datsun saved money after the turbo-model came by making one engine with different pistons depending if engine was N/A or turbo.
  9. I won't disaassemble the whole engine yet, so full confirmation I cannot give. But looking from spark plug holes it looks like that pistons are flat tops, so looks like that what Gareth said is true. Because I still believe that the engine is original...
  10. Cozy: That page just tells me that P90 was in the turbo engine. But now I euro N/A engine, which has P90 head. Also fellow z-devotee has has N/A engine with P90 head.
  11. I bought engine, which was originally from 280zx. Engine is with F54 block and P90 head. How is this possible? I think the 280zx was a euro-version 280zx. Also fellow z-devotee has found out that his newer 280zx na has P90 and older has p79. Has there been different kind of engines in europe than in states? I don't think that Datsun would have made two different head with same label.
  12. Sorry, my question was little bit unclear. I meant that I don't need to make any modifications to my intake manifold? Fuel rail side is obvious and clearly said in the beginning.
  13. So if I'm correct non-turbo supra's injectors doesn't need any modifications to fit properly?
  14. I looking for company to which takes my engine from largo to okeechobee, but I have no clue which company to turn in to. I have follow-up shipment from there, but I just have to figure it out how to get the engine there. Does anyone have good suggestion which quick, reliable and fair-priced company to use? All I know is fedex and their prices are bit high.
  15. I searched, but as a foreigner it's harder to find right info because here is so much talking going on. Don't shoot or anything, but I have one question. Can I use the 280zx na's 5-speed with L28ET and my driveshaft L26+automatic combo? I know that BW T5 needs different driveshaft, but does the na's 5-speed need that?
  16. What would be the best and easiest option, when I'm swapping L28ET to my 260z and I'm doing the automatic to manual conversion? I have searched that BW T5 would the absolute best option, but it requires modifications to transmission mounts and to the driveshaft. Also I can't use the original driveshaft. How about if I use 280z's 5-speed transmission? Will it bolt to the L28ET engine and then can I use the driveshaft which I have now and stock transmission mounts? Are the 280z'z 5-speed and the 280zx na's 5 speeds trannies the same?
  17. If I'm going to get a new engine, I'm going to ge L28ET as complete as possible. I had one seller, but I'm not sure what's going on with him. I asked from fourways engineering in uk and their prices were skyhigh comparing to getting the engine from states+delivery and taxes.
  18. Not much. I know few, but if I want to get a new engine I'll have to look from USA.
  19. Well, that's totally new thing to me. And obviously it makes sense, so then I have to forget p90 and n47. I'm surprised that you are the first one to tell me this. But now we are back to square one. Is there a EFI head with 83 bore? n42?
  20. But with this setup I counted 6,9:1 compression ratio with ozdat.com or did I understand something wrong? Or is there a mistake in ozdat.com?
  21. well, EMS is going to be updated also when building the engine. Megasquirt is most obvious choice, but other options haven't been ruled out. Megaquirts tune-up is the main consider. I going to use just normal gas and car is going to be daily-driven in the summer time. cantZme, are you serious about what you saying that L26 pistons, stock t3 and p90 head need racing fuel? Sounds bit of odd...(well, I new with these things so everybody can trick as much as they like). Also I'm going to put intercooler to the setup. I'm aiming for over 300hp eventually, but not yet. But I want to build everything from the beginning with that in mind. I know that before I going to reach over 300 hp, I should go for forged pistons. So the setup what I have quickly thinked of is that I'll use otherwise stock L26, but with changing head and adding EFi with l28et intake and exhaust manifold I could build a turbo efi setup. Of course I need other parts also, but this would be this winters idea to what I'm going to build.
  22. So your all saying that I should go with like n47 head than the p90. Compression ratio with n47 head is 8,3:1 and p90 with would be around 7,3:1 With which head would I get more reliable setup? which would be better for over 300hp setup?
  23. You mean the 280z l28 or the 280zx l28e? Or are those the same engine? What else do you gain with flattop pistons than the lower compression ratio?
  24. But when people are converting l28 n/a to turbo, people are suggesting to find pistons and rods to lower the compression ratio(l28 n/a close to L26 compression) and get a stronger setup. shouldn't this be done with L26 turbo conversion?
