  2. does anyone know of an epoxy that can be used to patch up fuel cells or gas tanks ? i have a small tiny leak and need to fix it any help will be appreciated
  3. Ok i'm not good with find out offsets or determining backspacing so help me out I plan on useing a 280z for my project and putting in a chevy LT1 i'm looking upwards of 500+hp and I'm thinking for traction i'll need a LSD and wider tires so i decided to go with victoria british 4" flare kit now seeing as i'll be going really really fast i'll need better brakes but to put good tires on i'll need 17" rims well you really can't find a 17x10 or 17x11 rim with this bolt pattern or hell with the correct offset i doubt so i'm thinking i'm going to have to convert to another lug pattern and hope i can find a wheel and brake that is can anyone help explain this to me and what i should do to convert ? and what type of brake should i look towards what rims and so forth I'd apprecaite any help you can provide Later Nick
  4. your right i will be out of cash but with that BIG MEAT i'll be able to put the power down to the ground a bit easier than with 7" or 9" which to be honest i don't care how much i'm out of, since this is a project car i'm going to put the best that i can.
  5. Thankz for everyones help and yea I plan on doing the conversion with a friend or two's help and no i wanna prep the body and brakes and suspension and get fender flares! i wanna run 10-11" wide tires to help put the power i wanna run to the ground however i'm not really intrested in paying $1000+ a rim for custom hre's or kenisis wheels! screw that! so if any of you know how or what i'll need to run something like that like should i do a 5 lug or stay 4 lug ? or what kinda confused as to wether that's stable or not or worth it i'm not a tire person so i'm really confused when ppl talk offsets and backspacing however i wish to learn that's why i decided to do the v8z Spotfitz thanks alot and your right by the time i finish the car it'll probably be exempt and thankz alot ppl i really appreciate the info you are given me
  6. mmm i might try and find a 280z then seeing as it should already have ac and the R200 already in it. now just trying to find a year to get any suggestions ? apparently it seems i can go 77 and older as 77 is 25 years old so that would put it in smog exempt status. correct me if i'm wrong please so anywhere from 77 and older would be a good canidate right 280z already come with R200 and have ac ready or easily put in. but 240's are lighter ? hmm but also harder to find
  7. don't go by my word alone but i do believe the LT1 will work with the T56 since a LT1 is basically a chevy 350 engine but with fuel injection as far as crate engine a LT1 crate engine will be purty expensive your best bet would be to find a used LT1 out of a corvette as the ac compressor was mounted on the Driver side and might work better there. due to camaro had the ac on lower passenger side and with the JTR setback method the ac would be in the way so you had to have it relocated not sure if the brakets off the corvette will fit the camaro or not but hey if it works dont' complain. not to mention the corvette had 4 bolt mains which made the engine a bit stronger and able to handle more power you should be able to find a used engine with all sensors and ecu and harness with trans for about 3-5k if there is anything you see wrong with this info please correct me as i'm still learnging about the V8's and the swap
  8. Spotfitz i'm in the watauga area off rufesnow and 820 and thankz for all the links and yes hybridz is very friendly not as trash talking as some of the boards i've been on tomorrow i'm going look at All Z's in Ft. worth to see if i can find a suitable 1970-73 240z one question tho! did the 240z come with ac originally ? was it an option ? or would i have to swap a 280z ac ?
  9. Hey ppl! seeing as i plan on doing a LT-1 swap into the new 240 i'll be getting I wanna fully build out the engine that i get before i put it in. So if anyone knows some good sites and places to get performance parts for the LT1 and T56 trans i'd really appreciate it. Thankz Nick
  10. yea i kinda found out threw the search feature. so now i'm going to find a 1970 240z and then get a LT-1 with T56 trans dunno if i wanna supercharge it or turbo tho but i'll keep it n/a for a bit. Later Nick
  11. OH MY GOD!! Thank you soooooo much that clears alot of the info up. but to be honest that's kinda goofy to me but hey if they wanna play like that i can play there game so it looks like i'm going to get a 1970-73 240z and do the swap with a LT1 and T56 trans thank you for all your advice. and I'll still call my emission ppl and talk to them to verify that it's the same in Tx before I start this project. Thankz Nick
  12. Ok i wish to get better understanding many ppl will say that 73 or older is smog exempt however some will say that it depends on the engine! however this is what confuses me for instance the L6 engine can be swapped out with just about any older or newer engine up to 1983 so how would you classify that ? say i have a 1982 L28 block but a 1972 head ? then what i have a mixed matched engine so how would you classify that within smog laws ? or better yet how do you classify any swaps in texas as i'm really confused and theres very little i can find on the net about it that states it very clearly. it's driving me up the wall as I plan on getting a 1970-73 240z and want to do the v8 swap but merely concerned as to what i need to follow for smog wether i will be exempt or will i need to get it smog legal! I want to swap with LT1 as i plan on staying fi and using a t56 trans. but dunno wether i'll need to keep the smog equipment on the engine or if i'll have to put on cats. if anyone in texas has talked to someone or knows the info can help i'd greatly appreciate it. Later Nick
  13. what about the fast burn heads (hope that's right) ? basically what engine will the mini ram fit on ? err what head Later Nick
  14. Ok, I'm thinking of doing a v8 conversion. I'm semi good working on cars, so I plan on doing the conversion with some help of some friends. however before I lay down 30-40 bucks for the jtr book I need some info answered. what engines does the jtr kit allow ? I'm looking into the minram intake as i wanna stay fi, but not sure on what engines it will actually fit. and what exactly is the difference of tpis? that kinda confuses me! also are most heads swappable ? for the 350ci ? like the vortec? I've searched this board for the miniram info and found little about it and what it works with. any info you can provide me with i'd appreciate it. Thankz Nick
